Pure relaxation - without phone and internet - in a side valley of Glencolmcille, Donegal. Here is our "Old School House Meenacross" dating back to 1920, the house has downstairs a large kitchen and a living room with fireplace. The floors are the original wood floors from the former school. Upstairs thera are 3 double bedrooms and one bathroom with shower. Hiking, fishing, cooking, reading, sleeping ... given the spectacular, wild landscape of the Irish coast. There is no place in the world in which we can recover better from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The house is owned by 3 people who all live in Switzerland. It is in our possession for more than 20 years.

Other Things to Note
There is no mobile phone signal at the house. Next access is 200m up the hill behind the house or in the village of Glen.
It is an old, special house. Please take care and behave like at home :-)
We spent 2 days in this charming little cottage in Donegal. It was quite a bit removed from the village of Glencolumkille but if you don't mind remote I would certainly recommend it. The house was cosy and clean on arrival with a lovely note from Monica, a bar of Swiss chocolate and a fresh bunch of daffodils in the vase on the kitchen table. The fire was set and there was plenty of turf, coal and kindling left inside for us. A great welcome. Oil heating via a Stanley range in the kitchen which you also cook on. 3 twin rooms - no doubles in case that matters to you. No TV, wifi or phone coverage! But lots of books and games to keep you amused. Kitchen is very well equipped with pots, pans and cooking tools - better than any rental I have stayed in before. If you do stay here take the time to go to Port - a long and very windy (sometimes scary) road to the most amazing seascape I have seen in a long time. While we are not particularly outdoorsy this house is an ideal base camp for hikers, bikers and fresh air enthusiasts.
Seele baumeln lassen
Perfectly beautiful house in a phantastic area, clean and tidy, a place to relax, to enjoy nature and explore one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland. Warm welcome with a sweet suprise from the owner (no, I won't tell more, otherwise it would not be a surprise for the next guests anymore), and very friendly service by Monica - thanks a lot, we will definitely recommend this house to everybody travelling to Donegal!
The house is old but charming and typical. The place is quiet, the neighbours, cows and sheeps are really friendly. Laetitia gave us very good advices to discover Donegal area and Monica is very nice. You can relax in this area, go hiking and go the beach. Our favorite beach is trabane. In addition, the redcurrant berries are very good.
Laetitia could not have been more helpful. She was delightful on the e-mail and went the extra distance to help with a particular query about emergency phone contacts (as the house is in a signal-free area!). The house was exactly as it looks on the photograph and was just how we expected (and hoped!) that it would be. The area is wonderful and there was so much to do and so many places to visit. The house is very remote (which we wanted) and incredibly peaceful.
Laetitia owns a little, pretty house in the mid of nowhere but close enough to the next villages to get gas & groceries and without feeling lost. On the other hand this small, charming hut connects you to one of the most beautiful places in Ireland (perfect description provided by Laetitia). We had a wonderful time up there and although the house's facilities being pretty basic (but exactly what we were looking for) nothing is missing! The kitchen is always warm & cosy! Adding to the "must-do-list" comes that Laetitia has been highly approachable and responsive (pre-/post-stay), so was her friend Monica. You will never feel alone if you really need a hand.
