If you're looking for an oasis in the middle of Toronto's most vibrant neighbourhood, you'll find it here.
In addition to location (location, location), the apartment itself is a one-of-a-kind gem - a private walk-up in a brand new building set back from the bustle of the street. There is a full vegetarian kitchen, air conditioning, a laundry machine, and Wifi internet. There is a city parking garage about 20m from the apartment and there is 24-hour access to the apartment keys on the day of your arrival.
This listing is for the entire apartment - in that, if you book it here, I will lock up my room + stay elsewhere during this time. Unless you'd like me to stick around to offer more active hosting - in which case, I can do that, too :)
Since I'm usually here when I'm hosting, you'll find more reviews of this space under the individual room listings: https://www.airbnb.ca/users/reviews_new/569339
Kensington Market (this place is located right in the heart of it) is one of Toronto's most interesting, eclectic, and friendly neighbourhoods. On most visitors’ list of places to check out when in Toronto, the area often ends up being the highlight. Home to a diverse community of artists, musicians and activists, Kensinton fosters a unique sense of community for locals and tourists alike.
Its variety of cafes, restaurants, boutiques, and vintage stores are worth checking out, whether you're here for a month or a weekend. Just outside the apartment you can find all kinds of specialty cheese stores, dried goods, bakeries, fruit and vegetable stalls, and food from around the world. You can walk around enjoying the atmosphere or hang out in nearby Bellevue Square Park. Chinatown is right around the corner and the University of Toronto, Art Gallery of Ontario and other attractions are within walking distance.
The market is always bustling with tourists and locals, and on summer weekends you can often find live music and performers on the street. If you happen to be here on the last Sunday of the month for Pedestrian Sunday (May-Oct), the market will be closed to cars and there will be a variety of musicians and performers lining the streets.
I am a queer/friendly Torontoian open to hosting considerate guests of any nationality, sexual orientation, etc., who are willing to respect my home and "house rules" (including not smoking tobacco indoors, eating/preparing meat at home, or making excessive noise). I will try to make accommodations for your comfort and abilities where possible, but for those with mobility issues, please note that the apartment is on the 2nd floor and accessed via an outdoor staircase.
Thanks for checking out this listing - looking forward to hearing from you :)

Cara was simply a fantastic host that I would not hesitate to recommend. She was highly professional, friendly, and responsive during the booking process, which included a phone call to outline some of the important factors for making my stay as smooth as possible. Cara sent me a comprehensive welcome package by e-mail, replete with photos, maps, and restaurant and tourist recommendations. I am from Toronto, and know that out of towners would truly appreciate the materials and engaging nature of this wonderful host.
Cara was also highly accommodating. My stay at her apartment had a unique purpose and I needed the flexibility to remain in the space a bit longer than the typical check-out time. Cara coordinated this favour seamlessly to accommodate my needs and be fair to the new guests who booked one of the bedrooms for the night following. That was truly appreciated. Cara even followed up after my stay to connect with me further.
In addition, the location is wonderful - you're in the heart of the market, and the place was very clean.
I'm sure you will enjoy! Don't hesitate to book.
Cara was very helpful in orienting us at her flat. She is kind and caring. The flat was a bit noisy but then it's location more than makes up for that.
This place is highly recomendable! Cara's flat has got nice light, a full kitchen to cook and space to sit and relax. Being in Toronto center we could enjoy of all activities around. You can reach many places easily by public transport or on walking. The many little cafés and shops around made us adapt easily to day and nightlife but without noise and stress.
Cara is an open minded host and finds solutions for every need! Thank you!
Cozy, Comfy, Hospitable! Great location, great neighborhood, and close to some of the best nightlife in the country. I will be back! Check Cara's place out!
Great location--Excellent host--easy check in and fast communication.
Cara is very welcoming and eager to help. Thanks for your hospitality
Cara is a wonderful host, woman, and human being. She was kind, respectful and very accommodating when we stayed at her place. Her place in Kensington was unique and with so much culture and was definitely a top notch area to really experience Toronto. I would highly recommend staying with her!
Staying at Cara's apartment was fantastic! Her place is really comfortable and clean, and the location is absolutely perfect. Kensington Market is my favourite area in Toronto, and her apartment is right in the middle of it. Her apartment is a bit farther back from the street with a private entrance-way, though, which makes it quieter and more private than if the entrance had been right off of the street.
I booked her place for me and four of my friends two days before our stay and right as Cara was about to take off to Poland. Even though my booking was last minute and she was a bit rushed to get out the door, she was still super accommodating, friendly, and answered all of my questions so that I could still make the reservation.
We booked knowing that there were only two double beds and that Cara's air mattress had recently broken, so we expected to have three people squished in a bed or one sleeping on the floor. I would definitely say that this place is ideal for four people - it was a bit hot and squished for three to a bed, so that might have been the only slight downside (though entirely our own fault since, as I said, we booked already knowing about the sleeping space). Also, if you're coming with three or more people, there won't be much comfortable common space to spend time, since the couch turns into a (very comfy) second double bed. Made it a bit less ideal for hanging out and playing games, but that was only a minor thing.
All in all, it was a really great stay. My friends and I all agreed that the next time we take a little weekend trip to Toronto, we'll be booking with Cara again.
Aw, thanks so much for the review! I'm so glad you had a good stay - I heard from the friend who came by to check in after that you guys were great guests and left the place spotless! Unfortunately, the time limit seems to have passed for me to write a return-review, so please let me know if you know a way to link this to your profie, or else feel free to quote me - look forward to meeting you in person next time :)

I'm an interdisciplinary graduate student, holistic mind-body worker, community facilitator, and multiligual communicator living in the heart of Kensington Market (in my opinion, one of the most fabulous neighbourhoods in the whole wide world).
-Focusing (holistic mind-body wellness work -> if you're interested in booking a facilitated session while you're in town, please get in touch!)
-Banethi (or staff-spinning), on fire or not
-Words(mithing): English, Español, Français
-Being outside (especially when it's summery out)
-Playing in a fabulous community-based percussion (Samba) band (yes, I will invite you to shows, which are often free and wonderful)
