Surrounded by views on one side and a garden oasis on the other, this is truly a unique property close to the hustle and bustle of Capitol Hill. Enjoy a private bed & bath on the lower floor of our hillside single family home with shared kitchen.
Update: We're proud to be AirBNB Superhosts! Enjoy a private bedroom and bathroom in our home, nestled between the Howe and Blaine stairs on the quiet north end of Capitol Hill. While we're both well-traveled, we take great pride in our beloved native state and are happy to help you find the best spots and experiences in the city and surrounding mountains and Puget Sound. We’re in a great location for public transit (served by Metro 49, 25 & 70-series) from Sea-Tac airport and Washington State Ferries, and offer 1 free reserved parking spot and plenty of free on-street parking. There is easy access to and from I-5 and a Car2Go is almost always within walking distance.
Your private room and bathroom are on the ground level of our early 20th century house, which is perched on the northwest slope of Capitol Hill, with sweeping views to the west. The bedroom includes a queen bed, plus an additional queen hide-a-bed couch and has private entry through the basement or shared kitchen. Linens are provided, and we have most necessities on hand in case you forget anything. Our sweet, older dog will gladly greet you, but is also happy to keep to herself when needed. The back door off our sunny shared kitchen and breakfast nook opens up to a private garden, sitting area, and BBQ patio, but you'll likely want to spend your time on the front deck overlooking Lake Union, the downtown skyline, Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains. In addition, we're right next to one of the best kept secrets of Seattle’s parks system, Streissguth Gardens, which is a woodland garden with walking paths, specimen plants and striking views.
When you’re ready to venture out from the quiet garden retreat, we’re an easy walk to the cultural heart of Capitol Hill, with some of the best dining, nightlife, and of course, coffee, in the city. Just up the hill is historic Volunteer Park, designed by the Olmstead Brothers, which includes a botanical conservatory, Seattle Asian Art Museum, 1906 brick water tower with 360 degree views, and Lake View Cemetery, where Chief Sealth, many of Seattle’s founders, and Bruce Lee are all buried. The Eastlake neighborhood, home to Seattle’s famous house boat community, is a short walk down the Howe or Blaine stairs, and downtown, South Lake Union, Wallingford, Fremont, University District, Montlake, Madison Park, and Central District are all within minutes by car or public transport.
While respecting your privacy, we’re happy to share tips about our beautiful city over a cup of true Seattle coffee and are happy to be your home away from home. Come enjoy a retreat in the city!
This is a smoke-free household. We are child friendly. We are pet-friendly on a case-by-case basis- let us know about your pet when requesting the room.
Interaction with Guests
We often get a chance to chat in the shared kitchen and breakfast nook. If you prefer privacy, we do keep the sliding door to the stairs closed most of the time. Our pup, Zari, loves to visit if you want to invite her down.
The 49 Metro bus stops a few blocks from us! Uber, Lyft and standard taxi service all are generally minutes away. In addition if you are a Car2Go member, see their terms of service to confirm you'll be able to use them here!
Pricing is based on 1-2 guests + children and cleaning fee is waived if you leave our home as clean as you found it. Additional adult guests (up to 2) are $10/ night/ person extra. Access to our home is by stairs only. Free car parking in our carport by request and there is abundant free parking on our street with no time limit.
We are happy to share the kitchen, breakfast nook, deck, and surrounding landscape with our guests. As we have an infant and dog in the house, we keep our living area upstairs separate- let us know if you'd like to visit with our dog as she loves guests. There is room for gear storage in the basement near the (free) laundry.
If you're doing a large dinner, etc. we can make the large living room and dining room available by request and for a fee.
Had a great stay here! The photos accurately represent the listing, although one thing to note is that the beautiful view is primarily from the upper deck (not from the room itself). Kyle was extremely welcoming and made us feel very at home with lots of suggestions for things to do in the neighborhood. The bathroom was fully equipped with amenities, and while we never used the kitchen it looked quite nice. Their is a really nice garden just down the street, and a long set of stairs that are great for running up!
Lake Union is a good neighborhood as it's not far from capitol hill, and also in striking distance from Fremont, Ballard, etc. Perfect if you're planning on doing a lot of exploring. You do need to do some walking or take a car to get to the nearest coffee shops / bars though, so if you want to be able to walk out the door and be in the thick of things probably not for you. I definitely recommend renting a bike or using the Pronto bike system (there is a station very near this house).
Great space and location. Capitol Hill is a lovely area. Go check out Top Pot for a donut, walk down to the water front and at night wander over to 15th and hit up the Smith for a lovely drink and bit to eat. Thanks a bunch!
Kyle and Nicole have provided a really nice "oasis" in a great Seattle location. The quiet north Capitol Hill location with easy access to Eastlake and South Lake Union was exactly what I needed for my stay. The separate lower level entrance made coming and going simple and private. The downside was that I didn't get to know Kyle, Nicole, Jack and Zari better.
Kyle always responded quickly to every message, even from the airport waiting for his flight to board. I had to extend my stay and Kyle accommodated the extra days available. He then sent a quick recommendation for me to another host nearby ensuring another reservation.
I highly recommend Kyle and Nicole's Oasis and would gladly stay again.
Kyle and Nicole were great hosts! They were very accommodating, the neighborhood was beautiful, and both their son and dog were absolutely adorable! I will definitely plan on staying here again if I plan to come back to Seattle!
I couldn't have imagined a more perfect place for my visit to Seattle. The location is spot on and the view of Lake Union is spectacular. Thank you Kyle and Nicole for being such wonderful hosts. I will definitely stay here again and recommend to ppl I know!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our five days at Kyle and Nicole's Capitol Hill Oasis. They were both so very warm and welcoming and provided us with very helpful recommendations re: getting around and seeing the sights in Seattle. The accomodations were exactly as described, very clean and comfortable. The garden and the deck were so enjoyable and the views from the deck were stupendous! the immediate neighborhood is very interesting and enjoyable, with plenty to do and see in the Capitol Hill area. This is a great location, lovely accomodations and friendly hosts---we highly recommend Kyle and Nicole's place!
