Surrounded by views on one side and a garden oasis on the other, this is truly a unique property close to the hustle and bustle of Capitol Hill. Enjoy a private bed & bath on the lower floor of our hillside single family home with shared kitchen.
Update: We're proud to be AirBNB Superhosts! Enjoy a private bedroom and bathroom in our home, nestled between the Howe and Blaine stairs on the quiet north end of Capitol Hill. While we're both well-traveled, we take great pride in our beloved native state and are happy to help you find the best spots and experiences in the city and surrounding mountains and Puget Sound. We’re in a great location for public transit (served by Metro 49, 25 & 70-series) from Sea-Tac airport and Washington State Ferries, and offer 1 free reserved parking spot (upon request) and plenty of free on-street parking. There is easy access to and from I-5 and a Car2Go is almost always within walking distance.
Your private room and bathroom are on the ground level of our early 20th century house, which is perched on the northwest slope of Capitol Hill, with sweeping views to the west. The bedroom includes a queen bed, plus an additional queen hide-a-bed couch and has private entry through the basement or shared kitchen. Linens are provided, and we have most necessities on hand in case you forget anything. Our sweet, older dog will gladly greet you, but is also happy to keep to herself when needed. The back door off our sunny shared kitchen and breakfast nook opens up to a private garden, sitting area, and BBQ patio, but you'll likely want to spend your time on the front deck overlooking Lake Union, the downtown skyline, Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains. In addition, we're right next to one of the best kept secrets of Seattle’s park system, Streissguth Gardens, which is a woodland garden with walking paths, specimen plants and striking views.
When you’re ready to venture out from the quiet garden retreat, we’re an easy walk to the cultural heart of Capitol Hill, with some of the best dining, nightlife, and of course, coffee, in the city. Just up the hill is historic Volunteer Park, designed by the Olmstead Brothers, which includes a botanical conservatory, Seattle Asian Art Museum, 1906 brick water tower with 360 degree views, and Lake View Cemetery, where Chief Sealth, many of Seattle’s founders, and Bruce Lee are all buried. The Eastlake neighborhood, home to Seattle’s famous house boat community, is a short walk down the Howe or Blaine stairs, and downtown, South Lake Union, Wallingford, Fremont, University District, Montlake, Madison Park, and Central District are all within minutes by car or public transport.
While respecting your privacy, we’re happy to share tips about our beautiful city over a cup of true Seattle coffee and are happy to be your home away from home. Come enjoy a retreat in the city!
This is a smoke-free household. We are child friendly. We are pet-friendly on a case-by-case basis- let us know about your pet when requesting the room.
Interaction with Guests
We often get a chance to chat in the shared kitchen and breakfast nook. If you prefer privacy, we do keep the sliding door to the stairs closed most of the time. Our pup, Zari, loves to visit if you want to invite her down.
The 49 Metro bus stops a few blocks from us! Uber, Lyft and standard taxi service all are generally minutes away. In addition if you are a Car2Go member, see their terms of service to confirm you'll be able to use them here!
Pricing is based on 1-2 guests + children and cleaning fee is waived if you leave our home as clean as you found it. Additional adult guests (up to 2) are $10/ night/ person extra. Access to our home is by stairs only. Free car parking in our carport by request and there is abundant free parking on our street with no time limit.
We are happy to share the kitchen, breakfast nook, deck, and surrounding landscape with our guests. As we have a toddler and dog in the house, we keep our living area upstairs separate- let us know if you'd like to visit with our dog as she loves guests. There is room for gear storage in the basement near the (free) laundry.
If you're doing a large dinner, etc. we can make the large living room and dining room available by request and for a fee.
The ideal place to stay in Seattle. The room with nice bed and nice couch was very comfortable to spend time or sleep, clean and totally private. The bath room was also comfortable and clean. Kyle, his wife Nicole, their dog, and their boy were friendly to me and nice. She let me use their detergent when I wash my clothes with their washer. I visited by car and the parking space was not enough wide on the road in front of the room, and sometimes I couldn't park my car in front of the room, but it was easy to find another space on the road not in front of the room. That was very helpful for me. In the day time, in the room, I heard some noises when their kid were playing himself with a ball on the floor above the room, but it made me feel happy and I didn't mind it at all. From the deck, I saw the sun went down behind Olympic Mountains. That was so amazing sight! There were some books and maps about Seattle in the room, it would help other guests. I miss the room and I hope I can stay there again and longer.
great host with a great house in a great location. Kyle was very proactive in making sure I was good to go after setting my reservation and made sure I was able to get to his house without problems. once there, Kyle was very accommodating and provided a nice rundown of the neighborhood. the house itself is great with amazing views of Lake Union and very conveniently located in Capitol Hill. overall, great experience!
We had a very nice at Kyles stay. The room was clean and the bathroom too. Kyle and his wife were very friendly. Also the stay was near to the 49 bus. So going downtown is no problem.
I wish I could give a 10 star review!
Kyle and Nicole were extremely gracious hosts. Their home is located right by the lake, with breathtaking views of the water and Seattle skyline. The neighborhood is very peaceful, and there is a beautiful public garden close to the house. If you like dogs, they have a very friendly dog named Zari. She is absolutely adorable!
Overall, the house is very well-maintained. The room is perfect -- spacious, cozy, and clean. There is a big closet with hangers, extra blankets and linens, a portable heater, and other useful items. The bathroom is spotless and has a heater that is perfect for those who are afraid of the cold. The shower also has great water pressure. Best of all, the bedroom and bathroom are both very private. We basically had the floor to ourselves! The room is accessible through a (pretty much) private entrance.
The house is in a prime location, with easy access to public transportation. It doesn't take much time to travel anywhere. Whether it was during the day or later at night, we felt quite safe walking around the area.
Kyle was easy to communicate with and very accommodating. He answered all of our questions and made sure that everything worked out. For example, because we had a later flight, Kyle arranged for us to leave our luggage at the house after check-out so that we could explore Seattle some more before our flight. He and Nicole also prepared a helpful sheet of paper with house rules and tons of recommendations/tips. They made everything so easy and carefree!
Aside from being a great host, Kyle is also very kindhearted. My mom got major motion sickness the night before our flight. Because she was worried that she would get sick again on the bus to the airport, we decided to check-out earlier than planned (to allow for more travel time). When Kyle learned of this, he actually rushed back to the house to meet us. Not only was he so understanding about the whole situation, he actually offered to drive us to the airport. We felt so bad!! Since we still needed last minute gifts, he ended up driving us to Pike Place Market and gave us directions to take the LINK light rail straight to the airport. My mom and I deeply appreciate his kindness and hospitality!!
This is the best Airbnb experience I have ever had. I will definitely be coming back to stay with Kyle and Nicole for my next Seattle trip!
This was my first Airbnb experience and I feel so fortunate that it was at this property and with this family. I can only echo all the positive things others have said. I would like to emphasize the responsiveness and excellent communication with Kyle. The beauty of the location was just as
pictured. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The only thing I might offer that was not mentioned anywhere, that initially surprised me, was the freeway noise down the hill. However, I quickly realized it was like white noise and I could easily imagine it as the ocean. I found the family to be delightful; friendly and welcoming, though considerate and respectful regarding privacy. I just don't think it gets much better than this!
Thank you for the kind review and I'm so glad you had a positive first AirBNB experience! Unfortunately in the city the trade-off for such views is the freeway noise. We try to mention that in the listing but I'll be sure to pull that further up into the description. We do have disposable ear plugs for the light sleepers too- all part of the supplies provided in the bathroom cabinet.
I stayed at Kyle's place with my wife for two nights. The place is clean and private. The location is perfect - next to highway ( it's close to everywhere in Seattle), and we got the great view on deck. You can easily find the coffee shop and restaurant within 5 minutes drive.
Great place to stay!
Kyle was there to welcome us into his home when we arrived, and gave us a tour of the place. The views were amazing, and the gardens in the neighborhood were beautiful as well. Lots of privacy, and it was very easy to get in touch with Kyle whenever we needed to.
