Set in 5 acres of land our property has the best of both worlds - close enough to the beaches to walk - Burgau 30-40 mins walk away or a quick drive into Lagos City 15 mins. We are on the outskirts of a typical Portuguese village (Almadena) with good links to the West Coast and A22 motorway. A car is recommended to see all that this area has to offer but there is a bus service from the village which will take you to a number of local beaches including Lagos

The space

Set in 5 acres of land our property has the best of both world - close enough to the beaches to walk - Burgau 30-40 mins walk away or a quick drive into Lagos City 15 mins. We are on the outskirts of a typical Portuguese village (Almadena) with good links to the West Coast and A22 motorway. A car is recommended to see all that this area has to offer but there is a bus service from the village which will take you to a number of local beaches including Lagos

Guest access

From the 1st floor studio apartment you will see the surrounding countryside and have views to the pool and gardens. You also have a large private terrace with sunloungers for your sole use.
The pool is shared by our guests only, we have accommodation for 18 people in total and with a 14mtr x 7mtr pool you will have plenty of space. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen with oven, dishwasher, fridge and washing/ironing facilities. There is 2 large grill plates for Barbecuing. The gardens are yours to explore and parking is secured within the gates

Interaction with guests

Living in the double storey house next to the apartments we will be on hand for any question or advice but we will not interfere with your holiday enjoyment. You may see us pottering about gardening or pool cleaning, if you need us you just need to knock:)

The neighborhood

Almadena is a beautiful village, was originally on the beach until the great tidal wave of 1755 washed it away. Sensibly they relocated this to higher ground where it has sat without any problems. Life is at a much slower pace here, with villagers happy to take time out to chat. There is a small mini market for essentials, the nearest supermarket about 5 klms away

Getting around

It would be a shame to not have a car here as there is so much to see and do. This corner of the Algarve has some of the most amazing beaches but most can only be accessed by car. There is however a local bus service which will take you to some of the local beaches including Lagos City Centre, from there you can use the public network to go anywhere including Lisbon or Seville if you fancy a trip further afield

Other things to note

Although we are in a sleepy village there are 4 resturants with a further 2 bars for your enjoyment. The village has a produce market where all the local farmers bring their produce to sell. There is also a communal laundry (Not the paying type with machines) a true old fashioned washboard and tub type but you have to be up early to see the villagers using it

Originally from Wirral (not far from Liverpool and Chester)

It all started in 2010, we were looking for a change and along came the opportunity of trying something completely different. We have always enjoyed travelling and experiencing different cultures, the timing was good for us to do something for ourselves. Our kids were now adults and we couldn't think of a reason not to give it a shot. Having years of experience in accounts and customer services this was the perfect area for me to transfer my skills. Alan, my husband has spent his working life in engineering so we really feel we have all bases covered. We rented the property and ran the business for 5 years. We took great pleasure in completing the purchase of the property in September 2014, so it looks like we are here to stay:)
