Interaction with Guests
We strive for great communication. We respond as quickly as possible and like to be clear on what to expect. Communication is key! We like to meet the guests after arrival, give a tour, answer questions, give recommendation, and exchange the keys.
Explore the historic West End neighborhood- the Victoria Mansion is right around the corner or take a 15 minute walk to the Old Port area which is full of shops, galleries and amazing restaurants. The Portland Museum of Art is just a short walk away as are many small restaurants, cafes and bars.
While there is a bus stop directly outside our door, Portland is very walkable with most destinations no more than 20 minutes away.
Please check-in before 6PM. We ask that guests respect the following common sense house rules: lock all doors (including the balcony) and shut windows on departure, don't eat our food (this is our home. if you need some salt or pepper, go for it.), no additional guests unless arranged prior to arrival, no smoking in the apartment (balcony okay), do not use the grill, and be respectful of our neighbors concerning noise.
From Aug 21 - Sep 7, 2015 the minimum stay is 5 nights.
Apartment is within walking distance to most things. Easy to find parking on the street. There is no A/C, but not a big deal since there are ceiling fans in every room. Apartment is clean and comfortable.
Ian and Cliff were such wonderful hosts, responded to all my emails prior to my arrival, gave very clear instructions as to check-in procedures and check out procedures. The place is beautiful, convenient, and very tidy. It's close to a few state parks that's good for hiking and sightseeing as well. Their recommendations were also great in terms of restaurants we should try, and things we should do in Portland. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that wants to have a good time in Portland.
Ian and Clifford were excellent hosts. The apartment was clean and as advertised. They left us helpful information about the Portland area. The location is very charming and within walkable distance to everything you need in Portland. We would stay there again I would highly recommend a visit.
Ian met us at the door and made my husband and I feel very welcome. The apartment was beautifully decorated, and the views of the bay are incredible. My favorite part was sitting outside on the balcony at sunset - sipping on some champagne that Ian kindly left for us when he found out we were there for our first anniversary. Highly recommended!
Listing description was very accurate. The apartment was beautiful and really gave an authentic feel to our visit to Portland. Our goal using Airbnb is to create an experience as if our visiting town was our home, and this place fit the bill. Beautiful views from all rooms and the balcony, and definitely within walking distance of all the city has to offer. Ian was very pleasant and accomodating, and I would recommend this place to any couple visiting town!
Ian was very helpful and accommodating, he waited patiently for me even though I was late! The apartment was perfect, such a great space. And the view from the balcony was stunning! Great location too, perfect for exploring Portland by foot.
What can I say that hasn't been said by other guests about this perfectly located, immaculately clean, beautifully decorated apartment and welcoming, helpful, lovely hosts? Balcony is great for morning coffee. Mattress is firm and comfortable. Cross breeze makes for a great sleep. Apartment itself is quiet. We walked everywhere in town, including the farmers' market in Deering Oaks Park on Saturday mornings and J's Oyster (best lobster roll of the weekend) -- I would highly recommend a visit.

About the Host, Ian
After living in Berlin, Germany, we chose Portland for all the wonderful things it has to offer- walkability, the arts, friendly people, fantastic restaurants and the ocean. I am an interior designer and my partner an architect. We hope you enjoy our place and Portland as much as we do.
