  • Our stay was absolutely fantastic! About the place, it was very comfortable, cosy, and there was more than we needed, we would definitely stay there again! You will never find a place like this for this price, stop searching and wasting your time and book this room right now! About Brooke, she the most adorable person, totally easygoing, very friendly and funny, she is also a very interesting and intelligent woman, we really had a great time with her. She taught us a lot about NY and we had lovely dinners together. And that's we highly recomend this place.

  • My husband and I had a lovely experience @ Chez Brooke. She is a great soul, so the period of time when she too lived on premises was particularly nice. The property is, in all respects a home, warm and comfortable. Our room was large and cozy. A shared bathroom with entry from each side of two rooms with different occupants takes some getting used to, but we knew the deal and it was manageable. Recommended!

  • Brooke is a fantastic host! From the moment I entered I felt right at home. I was greeted with coffee, an english muffin, and deep conversation. She provides a kindness that is above and beyond what is called for in a host, and I truly appreciated it. Her space is clean and incredibly cozy. I was in the larger room which is a writer’s dream with a huge desk, loads of great reads, and plenty of adequate lamp light. Did I mention the books?! Brooke’s book collection is truly amazing and worth pursuing during longer stays. The bathroom is shared with the adjacent room, however there are individual entrances with locks as to avoid any awkward surprises. There is an alternate entrance downstairs (where the rooms are located) which proved very convenient for all the running around I had to do for the event I was covering. The house is ideally located with access to buses (at the corner), subways (a few blocks), and if you’re adventurous gypsy cabs that will get you around for pennies on the dollar. Her block is quiet and safe, and the best part? It’s in Brooklyn! If you’ve been wanting to check out BK you couldn’t find a better space or host. In short, I had a blast and would definitely book with Brooke again.

About
Published author, snow bird, retired stockbroker and financial analyst who loves to travel, go to movies and shows and cook. India is my favorite country since I have been there seven times. China is my next stop. Gourmet food is my hobby and I will be glad to share my favorites ethnic restaurants, cookbooks and "foodie" shops where you can freak out over the hundreds of varieties or meals, spices, teas and herbs that can tingle your tastes buds in this city. My life motto is from Patrick Dennis' book Auntie Mame, "Life is a banquet and too many poor suckers are starving to death." In New York, that's only possible if you ignore the world around you.
