I stayed for a week over July 4th and everything was really smooth. The room and place was as described and Matt made me feel really welcome. We had to meet early on check-in day and I had to move the appointment one more time, and it was not a problem. Matt was also responsive to questions via text and cell phone.
Mathew was welcoming. Fast responses. The room was as listed except that I was not aware of other four tenants in the house. I shared the bathroom with two other tenants. The neighbourhood is very quite and very pretty.
p.s. No bedbugs were found (in case you've read Yahoo Travel October 23, 2014).

I stayed with Matthew for two months and he made me feel welcome from Day 1. The house is in a lovely quiet neighbourhood and really a perfect location for everything.
Matt & Sabra are super friendly and the location couldn't be better. I had a cozy room upstairs and full use of the kitchen and downstairs area for hanging out. I felt completely at home from the first day I walked in the door. Thanks guys!
Really enjoyed my experience. The host was very helpful, kind, and accommodating. The other guests were a joy to get to know. The location is convenient to campus. The room accommodation was a bit under-construction, but comfortable enough for my one night stay. If construction of the were complete and the results of the construction were nice, I would have given it 5 stars. Overall I was very satisfied. It was a nice experience.
Matthew was very accommodating to my random schedule of the day as I was driving across the state and hadn't a clue an exact ETA. He left instructions through email on how I can enter the house if he was out, and he made a point to come back from a pretty hectic day to greet me.
My stay at the house was primarily for sleep. On my first visit in Madison, I wanted to drink in everything the city had to offer. So the house suited me well as it is in an ideal location and the bedroom is "just right" for these types of needs - to sleep.
If you are on a romantic getaway where you want more indoor time, it may not be the most suited place - but who stays indoors in Madison, anyway. Oh, and in the morning, I ate one of the bananas from his kitchen because I really needed to take some medication and not on a full stomach. (This is very uncharacteristic of me) and he still gave me a nice review ;)
The house and the street are really beautiful, I highly recommend this accommodation.
