Really enjoyed my experience. The host was very helpful, kind, and accommodating. The other guests were a joy to get to know. The location is convenient to campus. The room accommodation was a bit under-construction, but comfortable enough for my one night stay. If construction of the were complete and the results of the construction were nice, I would have given it 5 stars. Overall I was very satisfied. It was a nice experience.
Matthew was very accommodating to my random schedule of the day as I was driving across the state and hadn't a clue an exact ETA. He left instructions through email on how I can enter the house if he was out, and he made a point to come back from a pretty hectic day to greet me.
My stay at the house was primarily for sleep. On my first visit in Madison, I wanted to drink in everything the city had to offer. So the house suited me well as it is in an ideal location and the bedroom is "just right" for these types of needs - to sleep.
If you are on a romantic getaway where you want more indoor time, it may not be the most suited place - but who stays indoors in Madison, anyway. Oh, and in the morning, I ate one of the bananas from his kitchen because I really needed to take some medication and not on a full stomach. (This is very uncharacteristic of me) and he still gave me a nice review ;)
The house and the street are really beautiful, I highly recommend this accommodation.
No major complaints. Matt's advertised "semi-private" room is exactly that, a partly closed-off sleeping space in the basement near the furnace, water heater, washer and dryer. This wasn't an issue for me since I just needed a place to crash, and the queen-size bed was very comfortable. An adjacent, comfy couch gave me a place to read and work on my laptop without disrupting the household. This all suited me just fine, but this is not for those wanting absolute privacy (for intimate moments, say) and lovely views. Matt said he has a more private lodging option upstairs. And since Matt was a fantastic host (even giving me coffee and a bagel with cream cheese in the morning, plus sightseeing tips), I recommend you consider him as an option. The price certainly is right. Though the house is not adjacent to the university campus, State Street and so on, these are easy to reach by bus, or it's a very pleasant 30-minute walk in the spring, summer or fall. Matt's neighborhood is attractive and quiet. All in all, just what I needed.
I was in for a four day seminar and Matthew was a helpful host in several ways: he was flexible with my check-in time and gave me a ride to the class. He also gave me really helpful advice for getting around the city. He's in a great part of town and the other roommate I met was friendly too. It was great to have such generous house privileges.
Matt is a good dude and great host. He accommodated me on short notice. Great location, would stay there again.
A+++ Great host! As advertised place, flexible, and a ton of fun to hang out with. Nice neighborhood with lots of Options nearby including restaurants bars coffee and Public transportation. Great value too.
Matt was the perfect host, friendly, informative and very understanding as my plans changed from day-to-day. I can certainly recommend the room, the house and Matt's hospitality.
