My stay with Carol was great. The airbed was a large (tall) one so it was very comfortable! There was a lot of room in the living room for my things and to not feel crammed. Carol is very nice, helpful and understanding!
Had a great time staying with Carol during my visit to SF! Had never done the Airbnb thing and was apprehensive initially. Leading up to the trip, she was very helpful with questions I had regarding transportation to her place, what to pack, etc. When I arrived, she showed me the space, which is actually a living room with a very comfortable full sized air mattress, and curtains for privacy from the foyer and dining room. The private half bath on the main floor is very small, sink is a little awkward to get to, but overall it serves its purpose. Kitchen is available, fridge, microwave, coffeepot. Showering was the only reason I needed to go to the 2nd level of the house. No scheduling conflicts there, Carol was courteous about making sure guests were able to shower when they needed to.
Although Carol's place is only about two blocks from the ocean, on the far western end of the city, public transportation to other areas was easy. There are bus stops for 2 lines within a couple blocks of her house. She had all kinds of maps to get around, and suggestions on where to go and what to do, whether you wanted the tourist trip, or wanted to see SF from a local's point of view. For arriving visitors, I highly recommend taking BART from the airport to the Powell Station downtown. Go to the Visitors Center there and buy a MUNIpassport, for 3 days or 7 days, depending on how long you're staying. This is good for pretty much all public transport around the city, except BART. A 7 day passport is $28. No dealing with cash fares for every ride to go where you wanna go. A warning, tho, it's EASY to get from Carol's place to downtown or wherever, but it IS NOT QUICK. If time is a concern in your plans, allow close to an hour for a one-way trip. Maybe a little exaggerated, but better to leave early than arrive late! I had more time than money and just explored the city at a leisurely pace. A lot to see on the bus rides, too, different neighborhoods, etc. Another warning, walking is great, but the terrain may change, literally, from block to block. LOTS of hills!
In a nutshell, staying with Carol was a very pleasant experience. She absolutely respected my privacy, but also expressed interest in my plans for each day, and would provide any helpful information she had about what to see, where to eat, etc. Her dalmatian, Leo, was sweet to have around too. You were just aware that he was there, very well behaved, loved attention, and stayed by Carol's side most of the time. I would definitely stay with Carol and Leo again if the opportunity arises for another visit to SF.
I loved the location and the house and Carol was most friendly and helpful.
The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Carol is the most considerate host, is very knowledgeable about San Franciso & environs, is a virtual font of information, and best of all, makes you feel at home. Really at home, right down to the morning coffee or tea. Her abode won't be a secret very long, nor should it be. Find out about the best corner of San Francisco through her. Thanks again Carol.
