You’ll love this quaint cottage (solo travellers only) because of its rustic charm, quirky and artistic nature. It was built with love & song in our all natural garden (up-cycled art, worm bin, compost, garden pond, fruit trees, veggies 'n vines). 7.5 miles from PDX, 5 minute walk to stores, restaurants, public transport, EV charging and 10 miles to great hikes/gorge. Must be happy using composting toilet and on demand outdoor shower. PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION BEFORE BOOKING.

The space
Posey's Pozzi is strictly a 1-person space, please don't enquire if it can be for 2. It was built entirely by volunteers wanting to learn how to build with cob (earth) and repurposed products (even Posey's bed is made from old reclaimed pallets ) as part of the Village Building Convergence to honor a deceased neighbor, Posey. His police badge is buried into the walls. And 'pozzi' in South African means 'place.' You have your own private deck to sit on under a grape canopy. It is socially distanced and nestles into our eco-friendly little homestead which has been featured twice on Clark county’s annual natural garden tour. Think.... 11 fruit trees, multiple vines and berries, raised veggie beds, flower garden, water storage tank, up cycled art and garden pond. Posey's has no indoor plumbing but you'll have plenty of drinking water and water to do minor ablutions and water is easily replenished. You access your shower and composting toilet via a tunnel of foliage. You'll be sleeping and showering close to nature and while Posey's is always swept, vacuumed and wiped before every visitor, there are some areas that will never look totally clean because of the repurposed products and also because we have chosen to leave some of her plasterwork exposed. If you ever wanted to experience living in a small space where everything has multiple functions - this little earth cottage will give you that. Posey's is screened from our home by trees and from our other airbnb, our vintage camper Bella, by foliage. She has a microwave, induction stovetop, toaster, fan and refrigerator, as well as basic amenities such as crockery, cutlery and utensils. She also has things like coffee, creamer, sugar, tea, oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper. There is also a shared iron. We're a bit paranoid about fire as we have had a place burn to the ground so please be careful to unplug it. Posey's is not your typical accommodation but she oozes rustic charm and she is extremely quiet to sleep in - because of the thick walls she has great acoustics but this also means cel reception can be impeded so, especially if you're planning on streaming movies this won't be a good spot for you. Posey's isn't well insulated, nor is she completely sealed - we do provide a heater and a fan. Our garden isn't the manicured kind - it's totally organic and whimsical with plenty of nitrogen-fixing dandelions, with lots of hidden sitting spots and tiny bits of art (often of a repurposed nature) tucked into unusual spaces.

We're a 5-minute walk away from two strip malls (with plenty of food options from sushi to McDonald's); a Safeway (with a Starbucks inside it) a great organic grocery store, Chucks; a Walgreens and a Rite Aid pharmacy. It's also about a 5-minute walk to the closest bus stop, a mile from a cinetopia, right on a bike route and a park nearby and if you have an electric car there is an ev charging station within a 5 minute walk. You'd never know that suburbia is so close. Our property is surrounded by huge old trees, and we have great neighbor's. We also have loads of bird life. We're a 7 mile drive to the Portland Oregon airport ...we're just over the Columbia River from Portland, only 1.5 hours to great skiing at 'Mt Hood' and to get there you get to drive along the fabulous Columbia River gorge which has dozens of amazing hikes and biking trails.

I'm a passionate up cycler and natural builder and I love my garden and palette knife painting. In summer I love to walk, hike and cycle and in winter it's skiing...and I play pickle ball and do yoga year round . My hubby, Corby, is a mad marathon runner, pharmacist and makes magnificent pottery. Our work is in a few galleries locally. I'm South African and he's Zimbabwean - so we are transplants to the USA. During your stay

My interaction with guests is dependent on their needs. Whenever I can I like to welcome them and show them around. I do potter in the garden, but won't disturb my guests with more than a hello wave and possibly a casual enquiry into how you're finding your stay. As I work from home, I ask that if it's at all possible I'm not disturbed from 8-5pm - although I am always available via text to attend to any of your needs. Over the weekends, you'll often find us in our ceramic studio, feel free to pop in and say hi.
