The Space

I am offering a private room in my Arts and Craft bungalow. The room can accommodate two. The room has a closet, a queen air mattress, chair and table. Please feel free to use the kitchen, living room and dining room while you are here. The full bathroom is next to the bedroom. There is also free wireless internet available, and cable TV in the living room.

The funky neighborhood of Bayview is full of great restaurants and bars. It is easy to get to from downtown, the lake (about 1 mile), Summerfest/Harley Festival Grounds (about 3.5 miles), the airport or Intermodal (about 3.5 miles), and the I-94 (about 1.5 miles). Feel free to ask me any questions about the neighborhood or Milwaukee.

I can provide some great suggestions in the neighborhood or in the city. On Tuesdays, one of the biggest free outdoor concerts occurs just a couple blocks from house -- Chill on the Hill at Humboldt Park. And one of the best beaches, South Shore Park, is about a 1/2 mile away. This is the location of the local Saturday farmer's market, and it is a lovely walk.

About me, I am laid back, and am enrolled in graduate school full-time embarking on a new career in architecture. I enjoy meeting new people and ensure that their experience in Milwaukee is a positive one.

If you plan to arrive by car, please be advised that you will need to register you car with city for night parking only (this is true throughout the city, Sunday night - Friday night). There is plenty of street parking in the neighborhood and there are no time limits (except that the car must be registered at night). Once you book, you will receive a link to register your car.

Here are some of the things to enjoy around the neighborhood. Bayview is a neighborhood, it is not dense. The walks or bike rides are very pleasurable through the mature, tree-lined streets.

Check out the Guidebook I have created under my other listing (same property), Vintage Upstairs Private Flat.

Two convenience stores about a block away. Walgreens is about a five minute walk.

Tenuta's (Italian -- including outdoor seating, 2 blocks)
Gyros and American/Custard (two blocks)
Canfora Bakery (two blocks -- one of the highest rated bakeries in the city)
Classic Slice (NY Style Pizza -- one of the best in the city, about 5-6 blocks)
Sven's Cafe (6 blocks, outdoor seating and pet friendly -- yummy and pretty inexpensive)
Also for coffee and light meals, Alterra Bayview and Antodine are very close as well.
Pastiche (French -- about a five minute walk)

There are also numerous other restaurants a few more blocks away! Bayview is known for its excellent restaurant scene.

Outpost: Natural Foods Grocery Chain in MKE, similar to Whole Foods (about 5 blocks away or cut through the park)
Pick and Save as well as the Pig (AKA Piggly WIggly are both about a mile away)

Straight Shots (Northwoods Feel, kind (email hidden) with a good vibe, 1 block)
The Palm (5 stars on Yelp, voted one of the top 100 beer bars in the country, known for its eclectic selection both beer and liquor, about 5 minute walk)
Blackbird (Pinball, Hipsters, and good beer selection-next door to Palm)
Lee's Luxury Lounge (cool but clean dive bar with skee ball and pool table) across the street from Palm and Blackbird)
Roman's and Sugarmaple are both about a mile away (both considered to be two of the best beer bars/taverns in the country.

Downtown attractions

Milwaukee Art Museum, Harley Fest, Summerfest, Polish/Irish/German Fest, about 3.5 miles, take the 15 or Green Line by bus. A pretty easy bike ride as well. The 15 is about a five minute walk, and the Green is less than 10.

Historic Third Ward (about 3 miles) You can take either bus to get there (Green or 15)

Bike Rentals (Unfortunately, there are no bike rental facilities in Bayview, despite Bike Shops. You would need to go downtown to rent one. If I am available, I can assist you with the pick up and drop off of one.

There is ample parking in the neighborhood with no daytime parking restrictions.

5 miles to Marquette University.
8 miles to UWM (green line bus)--a beautiful drive along the lakefront (almost the entire drive)
12 miles to the Medical College of Wisconsin/Froedert.

There are two large parks within walking distance (Humboldt and Sijan are about a minute).

  • Mike was a great host. He took plenty of time to help us navigate the city on bike, gave us some great meal recommendations, and even cooked a full breakfast for us on Saturday which was unexpected. We would certainly recommend staying with Mike if you are able to.

  • Mike was an absolutely wonderful host for our quick trip through Milwaukee. He had insight on lots of places to go and things to see, restaurant recommendations, a nice cool bedroom, and he even made us a delicious breakfast on the day of our departure. Mike has AirBnB down. I would highly recommend him to anyone passing through Milwaukee.

  • Mike was a great host. He was so personable and easy to talk to and his laugh was infectious. We unfortunately didn't get to stay for his famous breakfast but he offered homemade banana bread and other quick options that we could take on the road. He left us some brochures detailing local events and gave us great recommendations. We planned our night out in his neighborhood and had a great evening. We feel like we gained a friend in Milwaukee.

  • Mike was kind, engaging, welcoming, and an ideal Airbnb host from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. He gave us some great recommendations of areas and attractions to check out, including Leon's Frozen Custard, the most delicious desert I have ever tasted!! His recommendations made our stay in Milwaukee so much better than it would have been if I relied on online sources. Mike's home is beautiful and well kept. Our air mattress was not incredibly comfortable, but I didn't expect a luxurious bed considering what we paid, so no complaints here. Thank you, Mike, for a wonderful experience!

  • Mike's house was located in a great neighborhood in Milwaukee, a quick trip to everywhere we needed. The room was clean and quiet, and there was ample street parking. He offered us breakfast one morning, but we had obligations and had to decline, but the gesture was nice. We will stay again if we return to Milwaukee.

  • This was our first Airbnb experience, and it surpassed all expectations. The house is beautiful, comfortable and clean. Mike is an excellent host, his help on getting around the city and suggestions of places to go was priceless and made our trip much better than it would have been. It was so good that my girlfriend wants to move to Milwaukee.

  • I stayed at Mike's house for 2 nights while visiting Milwaukee. He's a great host and the house is extremely clean. I would recommend him to anyone visiting Milwaukee, especially for those with access to a car. There are great coffee shops within walking distance, and the location is accessible by bus from downtown, though it runs infrequently.

  • Mike is so friendly, responsible and helpful host to let us feel like at home. I strongly recommend his nice house!

Hi, my name is Mike. I just recently completed my M. Arch and am looking for full-time work within the field of architecture. I am well-traveled in Wisconsin, North America and Europe. I'm easy going and love Wisconsin during the summer. Take advantage of all that Milwaukee has to offer and the wonderful neighborhoods. I love cooking and pinball. A lot.
