The Space

This 1 bedroom Suite is spacious & straightforward, allowing for one to unwind in all its anti clutter glory. This is a place to think, to create, to write, to read, to power down from all the usual daily distractions and just be.

It is located only a minute from the village of Topanga, but you'd never know you were anywhere near Los Angeles--- it feels like you are staying in a remote mountain village.

There is a full kitchen with a new fridge, full bathtub and shower, comfortable queen bed with bedding and the option of an additional mattress or futon in the living room, high speed wireless internet, parking, coin laundry, on a lovely property with ancient oak forests and sculpted creeks.

There are lots of windows for an airy feeling or you can close the curtains and for your privacy. You can keep to yourselves or be part of the community feeling here, as you prefer.

Surprisingly we are only about 10 minutes from the beach and less than twenty minutes to Santa Monica (10 fwy), Malibu or Calabasas (101 fwy).

This property is situated on 12 acres of land with an artistic and bohemian feel, minutes from the center of Topanga, CA.
The location is idyllic, in the mountains with access to nearby hiking trails and creeks. This property is a paradise for dogs, but if you bring a dog it is considered an extra guest. Cats are not allowed because of the danger in this wild canyon.

We have lots of other cottages available on the same magical property:

The world famous Inn of the Seventh Ray is just down the street, with fine dining next to a flowing stream. They have a wonderful Sunday brunch.

Cell phones may not work here, but there is total coverage of wireless internet and we can provide a landline with unlimited calling for a small daily fee.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • This is a unique spot. We stayed in the Creative Suite, which is cozy and comfortable - just room for two, but plenty for us. The setting is very Old School California, an amazing nook in the Canyon with spectacular views. The funky little accommodations are charming, and convenient to everything.

  • I booked the creative suite at the last minute, and David got back to me right away. Great location, quiet and serene! Would definitely stay again!

  • Loved The Creative Suite! We also stayed at Topanga Mountain Storybook Cottage and Topanga Mountain Fairy Tale Cottage. David and his assistant were helpful from the start, and the entire cottage in the forest was very peaceful and relaxing. It is not too far from the beach or the city if you need to go there. Will be coming back in the future!!

  • David's collection of cottages is in a lovely mountainous ranch area within Topanga. Very secluded and has a very laidback vibe. Loved all the artistic, unique decor and layout of the place. If you're looking for a hotel-like experience, this is not the place for you but you'd be missing out on some very nice people and a very different experience. I loved how open it was, how friendly the people staying there were and you cannot beat that feeling of getting away up in the mountains. I'd definitely stay here again.

  • Though we actually never met David, this place was indeed quite lovely and magical. The location is outrageous- you're in the mountains, fifteen minutes from the beach, and just outside of the very small but charming village of Topanga. We were certainly expecting rustic; I would just note that this place does not have much internal or external privacy. There is no door to the bedroom; it is really an extension of the living room. Also, this apartment is somewhat attached to the main house. Because there were a lot of people coming and going from the various places one can stay on this property, it sometimes felt like people were having conversations right outside our bedroom window. This place definitely has a community feel, which is part of its allure. However, do not go expecting a silent retreat from humanity.

  • I have stayed a total of three times in the Creative Suite in Topanga Canyon. It has been the perfect place to stay while working a contracting gig in Malibu. It is close to the office, but off the beaten track in a beautiful quiet rustic area. You'll hear owls, frogs and the occasional coyote. Everything you need, including parking right outside the suite (email hidden) for coffee. (Don't forget to bring your coffee!) And nothing you don't (no T.V. or microwave, but I those certainly aren't "needs" and I personally like not having a T.V.) So I would highly recommend and will be staying there again soon, I hope! Happy Travels!

  • Great place to stay! This was my first Airbnb experience, and these guys set the bar pretty high. The cabin was amazing, the community was great, and I'll definitely be back again at some point. Thanks for making my fist Airbnb trip such a good one!

  • This was my second visit, and just as great as the first. Stayed in a different cottage - also very comfortable and cosy. David's a very nice man, and everyone there is super friendly. I'll definitely stay again.

  • One of the best Airbnb experiences i have had so far. (email hidden) to get away from city noise and enjoy the nature! 20 min drive from Santa Monica beach, surrounded by cozy restaurants, cafe's and cute little stores, this location is a must see. On top of that, David was such an amazing host, always helpful and reliable. Me and my sister enjoyed our stay greatly and we are definitely coming back soon.

  • I love this mountain community nestled in 20 minutes from santa monica, malibu and the entertainment venues of the valley. I'm organic and green and prefer the nature - the outdoor hiking and trees right outside my doorstep. As well as having a full kitchen, bedroom, livingroom... it's just so cozy. And the staff couldn't be more helpful and understanding of any need no matter how out of their job structure it may be! What could be better than the peace and tranquility of the beautiful mountain scene there, the home-style living, a social vibe of all kinds of great people and access to all the fun of the area at your fingertips? David is a people (email hidden), will go out of his way to make your stay a fantastic one. I'm very thankful for this little community in the mountains! Beats the heck out of any hotel!!! no comparison!
