  • Very friendly and helpful hosts with flexible check-in and check-out time. We arrived Taipei around 1230am and they have waited patiently for our arrival. We have 7 adults and 2 kids. They are very kind to arranged the additional mattress for us so we can rest immediately when we arrived! 你们的细心真的让人感动!

We stayed there for total of 6 nights, with an interval of 2 nights to visit Hualien. They let us keep our luggage and stuff in the apartment during the 3 days away which is a plus point so we can travel light to Hualien.

Water dispenser with hot & cold water supply is great, especially we have kids that need to prepare milk/drinks very frequent.

Location is great, and you may want to try the 手打面 (hand-made noodle) right in-front of the apartment's entrance. The udon noodle is very tasty!

All the beds are very comfortable, even the sofa is very comfy too! The extra blanket (the blue/white one) is particularly very nice and warm for the cold weather.

We don't get the gift which others mentioned, but that's not an issue. Something to take note, there's only 1 bathroom with toilet and another one is only toilet (although in airbnb mentioned 2 bathrooms). So if you have a big group like us, you may need to wait and take turn for shower. The separated toilet do not have a proper door, it only has a curtain to cover up but that's not a main problem.

Overall we all enjoyed our stay very much and definitely recommend this place to everyone!

  • Quaint, rustic, and huge apartment with best location. ill fit 4 person easily and up to 6 pax comfortably. It is in the middle of Xi Men Ding yet situated in a quiet alley. I stayed here for 9 nights and my family was very impressed and happy. Most importantly, Ah Dong is the perfect host. He will message me daily to make sure I am comfortable. He will also drop by once in 2 days to help clear the bins and replenish the towels and water for free. He even bought my family some Taiwanese Street snacks :)
Heaters are available on cold days and wifi works.
    Do not hesitate to book!

  • This airbnb is actually run by 2 folks fyi ( 川, and 東) so instead of just talking to 1 host, you get to talk to 2 (although I believe they use the same airbnb id, and I imagine, LINE id as well). Unless they have some sort of communication problem, this is actually a pro.

2 hosts mean that we had 2 people bring us around the apartment at check-in, and orientate us to the space. And also help us with luggage during check-in. And also attend to our queries afterwards.

Check-in timing is flexible; we were able to check-in in the evening, instead of the standard 3pm. We were able to check-out early as well (they trusted us to lock the door behind us. Checking out late wasnt possible, unfortunately, because there was another guest coming in).

I also like that there is a water dispenser, so you can conveniently top up your bottles before heading out. Beats having to worry about boiling and storing clean water!

The gifts that others have mentioned we got as well. For us, it was a set of Chinese New Year gifts.

Several things to watch out for:
    1. for impatient folks, the water temperature might be a problem for you. I myself had no problem; I've wrestled with similar systems like this before. Just tap the lever gently, and wait for the temperature to adjust! The same can't be said for the tap water, though (when u just want a quick wash!).
    2. I personally had no issues, but my sister told me about a layer of dust in one of the rooms, which caused some issues for my nieces. Nothing that a good clean won't fix, though.
    3. We stayed over for 2 nights, and I remember hearing some occasional noise coming from downstairs late into the night. A scooter starting up, some other noises (they sounded like metal containers being moved about). It wasn't a big deal for me though, because they weren't that loud, nor persistent.
    4. I appreciate that they provide disposable slippers (which wasn't something that I'd expected; it felt like they really took care of us!), but you need to be aware that they can apparently be a fall hazard on the tiles when either the slipper or the floor is wet. Just don't wear them into the toilet when they might possibly get wet and you should be fine.

So would I stay here again? Yes. The problems I've highlighted I find to be not insurmountable; and I definitely prefer a home-like environment (I was travelling with my family) to that of a hotel.

  • The apartment is in the prime location right in the heart of ximending. We looked forward to going back to the apartment every night because it is just a 50m walk out to all the glorious food that ximending has to offer. The decor of the apartment is exactly the same as the photos. The homely and warm feel of the apartment made us feel right at home. Host Richard and Bradx were very helpful and are very sincere people. They kept intouch via whatsapp to make sure we were ok. Thank you guys! Will definitely come back here when we we are next in taipei!

  • I found Richard and Brad's apartment on Airbnb when I was planning a holiday to Taipei in Dec with my parents and brother. For the first time, we decided not to stay in a hotel. And we were not disappointed. True to the photos on the Airbnb website, the apartment is tastefully furnished and well-appointed. Upon arrival, one may be fooled by the old narrow stairs leading to the apartment but beyond the door was a cozy and comfortable little haven that was our home for 7 days. The little doorway to the stairs with its warm orange light spilling into the alley became a welcome sight for us every night as we returned from our romps around and out of the city.

The apartment is well located right smack in the thick of Ximending action. Cafes and mouth-watering Taiwanese street fare are literally right at our doorstep (there are 2 just downstairs). Shops, cool back-alley boutiques and cinemas abound. Ximen MRT station is just minutes away so traveling around (and out of) the city is a piece of cake.

Richard and Brad were awesome hosts and the very embodiment of Taiwanese hospitality. Warm and super friendly, they did all they could to make us comfortable, from facilitating our early check-in, dropping by a few days into our stay with fresh towels when we requested for it, to sending SMSes to remind us to dress warm as the weather turned chilly. On our last day, they even brought us gifts.

This is my first trip to Taiwan and staying at Richard and Brad's apartment in a local neighbourhood gave the entire trip a homely charm no hotel could give. If you want an authentic slice of Taipei, a home stay is the way to go and I strongly recommend this apartment as your home away from home :).

  • My kids needed to go to beitou for competition but we're glad we chose to stay with Richard' place at ximending even though it is 35 minutes away by mrt. His place is situated at a small lane at the bustling ximending shopping area. Although the staircase leading to his unit looks old, his place is pleasantly decorated and huge enough for a family of 6. The place is lovely and felt just like home. Cheap and tasty food are available downstair itself and shopping is 2 minutes walk away. Ximending mrt station takes only 5 minutes walk.
Richard is a warm, sincere, friendly and hardworking guy, not to mention his good looking. He will make sure you are comfortable at his place and forwarding his assistance any time of the day. I wondered whether he ever sleep or rest!!!!
Both of my kids won the 2nd runner up for world congress mental arithmetic 2013 at Taipei last Sunday. Richard is equally happy like us.
We highly recommend his lovely 2 bedrooms to anyone who wish to travel to Taipei. It's the 4th time for us to come here for holiday and we used to stay at hotel. This time we chose to book through airhub and turned up to be the most enjoyable and memorable one. Thank you Richard and Brad.

  • The excellent place for shoppers and food tasters. The location is only 3 minutes from Hànzhōng Street (汉中街) which is central street in Ximending Shopping Zone.
The rooms are nicely decorated by the owner who is trained in Interior Decoration. So you would feel very much at home. The stairway to the unit may seemed old but you would be pleasantly surprised when you step in to find a tastefully decorated modern home.
The Ximending Station is the best option to travel and explore Taipei. (It is not advisable to drive as the surrounding lanes are mostly one-way traffic and crowded with merchant vehicles and motorcycles). This place is highly recommended for people who wished to indulge in shopping and food. Using the room as a base to explore Taipei.
The host is helpful and carefully attend to our queries. He is easily contacted through LINE app with the free WIFI provided in the room. He is accommodating to allow my group of 10 persons with children from 5 to 13 years old to rearrange the furnishings for maximum space. It is great as the typical hotel only allow maximum 4 persons in a room. We are two families who do not wished to be separated into 3 rooms. Hence it is wonderful to have a whole unit of 2 rooms with the living room included for our stay.
The only suggestion I have is to standby a electric heater during winter season for guests from the the tropical countries. We are from South East Asia with children who are not accustomed to cold. If the host is concerned that the guest may forget to switch off the heater before leaving, consider using a timer controlled power plug.
Thanks to the hosts for the wonderful stay in Taipei. We will recommend this place to our acquaintances.

  • If you have no idea where to stay at Taipei, 悠活居 YUHOO will be your best idea!

悠活居 YUHOO is located the heart of XiMenDing, minutes away from XiMen train station, cinema, pubs, shopping malls, restaurants and street side eateries.

In short, the location is freaking amazing!

The interior of 悠活居 YUHOO is tastefully designed and decorated by the owners, it's spacious, peaceful and makes you feel right at home the moment you steps in. Ah Chuan and Ah Dong have put in so much love into every aspects of YUHOO, which makes this my favourite AirBRB stay till date.

Ah Chuan and Ah Dong are very friendly, helpful and attentive, they made our Taipei stays with YUHOO hassle free and extremely enjoyable! Please be nice to them and YUHOO, so that they will continue to list their place on AirBRB!
