  • Hester's home is beautiful and very peaceful. It is tucked away in the trees and is a welcome distance from some of the hustle of the downtown Chiang Mai area (a real benefit if you happen to come during the smoky season). I would definitely recommend staying (plenty of space both inside and outside).

  • Really a great place, close to everything but far from the noise and pollution. The house is really enjoyable and charming, and Hester is a great host with a good spirit. Highly recommended.

  • Our stay at the cottage was pleasant and very peaceful. It is located outside the center of town in a quiet shady gated community. Hester and Teun where very helpful and oriented us to the area. The place is a little out of the way and requires some kind of transportation. With the help of some bicycles we borrowed, we were able to get around pretty well. We would bike to Canal Road (outer ring road) and park it in a secure parking lot with a guard and from there hail a red bus to get to the center of town.
After a day in this bustling city, it was nice to get back to the peaceful cottage.
You can rent a scooter for 150 Baht/day,which probably would be your best option for transportation.
The place was comfortable if you don't mind simple living. We felt very safe and enjoyed reading books in this peaceful cottage.

    Thanks Hester and Teun.

  • We had a wonderful stay at this place- Hester and Taun were fantastic hosts and a great source of info... The neighbors are friendly and the bamboo forest gives the experience a very authentic feel.

  • The house is spacious and lovely, a super shanti space w a great kitchen, garden and energy. The community is friendly and kind.. a great shady green location outside the city with nice people and nearby village. Hester and Teun did their best best to accommodate our needs from a distance.. even though we did not meet, we really enjoyed communicating with them and were happy to be staying in their home. We rented their motorbike to get to and fro.. highly recommended! otherwise I'm not sure how you would get around? I wish we could of stayed longer.. Such a great place. Thank you.

  • Hester and Teun are really kind and helpful. The place to stay is quite, amazing, in the middle of a nice neighborhood and at the same time in a bamboo forest. For a couple or a family is perfect. Alone it was difficult to go to the city because I don't ride moto, but if you can ride, that place is absolutely perfect to enjoy Chiang Mai and to relax. Enjoy!

  • Hester and Teun's place is a truly peaceful and quiet getaway; yet it's still close enough to all the things that make Chiang Mai a great place to visit. The house is located just northwest of the city close to Chiang Mai University, Doi Suthep and the new convention center. You'll definitely need a motorbike or bicycle to get around, but Hester and Teun graciously allowed me to borrow theirs. On Saturday, their neighbor sells fresh baked bread, croissants and other homemade delicacies that are absolutely delicious! There are also dozens of fresh produce stalls and street food vendors in the village near by. In short, if you're looking for a quiet and authentic visit in the Chiang Mai area, Hester and Teun's place is perfect!
