About this listing
A beautiful house from 1920 in a very nice neighborhood, powered by solar electricity.
You will find yourself comfortable in our wonderful basement apartment which features a lovely bedroom (queen bed), living room, and bathroom with shower. The bedroom has an entrance from the back yard so you can come and go as you wish. We have a spare twin mattress which can be put on the floor for guests who do not want to share the queen bed.
From the bedroom, you can walk outside and enjoy our beautiful back yard. The bathroom with shower is accessed directly from the living room. There is also a laundry room in the basement which you are welcome to share with us. In the laundry room there is also a refrigerator and microwave for your use. Please note that we occasionally walk through the living room to access the laundry room.
Our 1920 home was recently completely restored including the basement which is cozy, comfortable and cool (especially in the summer months). We are powered by solar energy from panels on the roof so you can feel extra green when staying with us.
We are a two minute walk away from Porter Square and the Red Line T (subway) which takes you to downtown Boston in less than 20 minutes. Harvard Square is about 20 minutes away walking or one stop on the T. Davis Square is about 10 minutes away walking or one stop on the T. Porter Square has a shopping area with a grocery store open 24/7, coffee shop, book store, restaurants etc. You can't find a more convenient location than this. We have guest parking permits for street parking in case you plan to arrive by car.
With the private entrance you will get the feeling of an apartment rather than a private room. We welcome international guests. Besides English, we speak Swedish, Danish and Chinese.
Interaction with Guests
We are a family of four living in the house and we enjoy meeting new people, in particular our children Albin 3 years old and Linnea 5 years old.
Porter Square Red Line subway stations is only a few minutes away.
We'd be really happy if you take off your shoes and leave them on the shoe plate inside the door. We like to keep our house clean and that is a lot easier when everyone takes off their shoes.
Anders, his wife and children were warm and welcoming hosts. We had some special needs; they were sensitive and very accommodating. This was a big plus for us. The apartment was spotless, aesthetically pleasing, spacious and comfortable. The location couldn't be better--five-ten minutes from the Porter Sq. T station and the Porter Square shopping center.
The only issue for us was the unusual shower--simple and elegant in its design, but we needed to place towels on the floor to absorb water that didn't slide down the drain.
I had a lovely stay at Ander's apartment in Somerville! The apartment was just as pictured, although probably actually larger than it appeared. Very nicely decorated, very clean, and everything that I needed! The location was perfect - just a short walk to Davis Square restaurants, etc. The apartment is very private, and I would highly recommend it!
We had a very nice stay at Anders home. It was nice and clean, had the things we needed and Anders and his family were welcoming and happy to have us there. They left us with the feeling that if there was anything we needed they would have gone out of their way to help. The Parking was pretty easy with the permit and for us this location was great as we were in Somerville for a seminar. We would stay here again !
We had a wonderful time - mostly thanks to this wonderful place! The little basement apartment was spotless and the hosts incredibly kind and easygoing. There's plenty of space and a lot of privacy. There's a tiny kitchenette with a fridge and microwave which is super nice. There are kids in the house so there can be some play noice in the mornings, but it didn't bother us a bit. The subway station is a five-minute walk from their place and it was also super easy to get an Uber in the neighborhood. This was our best AirBnB experience by far and I only hope their lovely place will be free the next time we come to Cambridge. I cannot recommend this apartment enough!
Andres is a great host. He was responsive before and during the stay. The room is comfortable. The location is excellent. Easy for commute and there are a lot of shops around for grocery, food, drinks etc.
The lodgings were exactly as advertised. the Bengtsson family is extremely nice and most hospitable. the location was good: near a 24 hour market, plenty of on street parking and 3 blocks from the red line into boston. Apartment is a little overstated as it doesnt have a workable kitchen, just a refridge and micro, and morning coffee!
All in all I highly recommend this to anyone else.
The place was nice and clean, and was accurately portrayed in the introduction. The metro station is a 5 min walk, and there are grocery stores, restaurants and bars around it. Overall, it was very comfortable and convenient.
