Centrally positioned for exploring Cornwall, The Apartment offers comfortable accommodation for up to four people. It is on the top floor of the old Mill building but is all on one level with only a couple of steps to the door.
A cosy space in a central position - ideal for exploring Cornwall. The Eden Project, which is only a couple of miles away, can be reached by car, bicycle or on foot - there is access on to the trails which lead to Eden and the south coast at Pentewan and Mevagissey, through the grounds of The Mill House, and Heligan Garden is only a ten minute drive.
The Apartment is part of the original corn mill - now The Mill House - and over 200 years old, in a valley setting yet less than 2 miles from the mainline railway station and shops and about three miles from the coast.
Although The Apartment is part of our home, it has its own entrance and parking area offering complete privacy to our guests.
It is in a perfect position from which to explore the surrounding area, the south and north coasts, and the many interesting houses and gardens of the County. The world renowned Eden Project is close by, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock House are both within a short drive. Visit the Maritime Museum at Falmouth, see Lands End or even better Cape Cornwall, or take the train to St. Ives for the day (very busy during peak holiday time) and see the Tate Gallery, St. Ives and the wonderful beaches there - enjoy the many other spectacular beaches - watch the winter storms, or walk the beaches and coastal footpaths - Spring is the perfect time for visiting the County if you wish to visit the great gardens of Cornwall - Cornish Gardens open to the public are at their best with magnolias, camellias, azaleas and many other spring flowering shrubs and trees in glorious splendour - or bring your dog and enjoy the deserted beaches - plenty of space! But the beaches are even better in the summer when you can surf the waves on the north coast or have more restful swimming on the south coast.
Visit the EDEN PROJECT or HELIGAN GARDENS or LANHYDROCK GARDENS - so many places to visit and so much to do - you will be spoilt for choice!! Tintagel, Mevagissey, Fowey, St. Michaels Mount, Lands End - all places made famous by a variety of authors and all within about an hour's drive of The Apartment.
Tintagel Castle is a popular destination, Padstow and Rock, Polzeath - so many wonderful beaches to choose from.
The Apartment is warm and cosy and is ideal for up to four people but best suited for either three adults or two adults and two children. There is a sitting room and kitchen/dining area plus two bedrooms, one with a king size (5') double and one with a single bed (a further bed can be added if four people are staying (but this second bedroom becomes quite small when being used by two people) The Kitchen area has a small oven with two hobs plus a large grill/combination oven.. There is a toaster, kettle and crockery and cutlery plus mugs and glasses, in fact almost everything you might need for holiday catering.
The bathroom has a bath with electric shower over.
There is parking for one car and the Apartment is approached by a few shallow steps and over a bridge and is then all on one level. Because the Apartment is approached by a bridge it is not ideal for small children unless they are closely supervised.
Please note: There are no laundry facilities available at this property.
Guests staying with us in The Apartment are welcome to explore the grounds of The Mill House - you might spot a deer or two, or perhaps a fox and certainly plenty of wild birds and a family of otters were spotted by the river. You might even be tempted to stay in the railway carriage which is on the old railway sidings - a brand new renovation and conversion which offers accommodation for up to six people in three bedrooms.
We are happy to offer suggestions on places to visit, places to eat - bike hire, train and bus times. Otherwise you probably will only see us when you arrive!
The Apartment is yours to enjoy for the duration of your stay. There is access on to the miles of surrounding trails (leading to the Eden Project and to the south coast at Pentewan or St. Austell town centre) through the grounds of The Mill House. The Apartment does not have its own garden area, but there is an adjacent parking area for one car.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to assist with ideas for exploring the County, places to eat, directions to the nearest shops, where to buy fuel and, of course, to help with any problems which might arise. Otherwise you may not see us for the duration of your stay!
Please note: MINIMUM THREE DAY booking during holiday periods.
Public transport is not brilliant - Cornwall is a rural area and to explore the County properly you really need to have a car at your disposal.
We are normally happy to accept pets but would point out that there is no outside area for your pet to run although pets and their owners are welcome to use the grounds of The Mill House which lead onto miles of adjacent trails. However, The Apartment is certainly not best suited for large dogs. A small daily charge is payable but please let us know prior to booking if you will be bringing your pet as very occasionally we regret we may be unable to accommodate a pet.
No smoking indoors.
Wifi is provided.
We really enjoyed staying at the cottage. We arrived after midnight and were welcomed by Joanna and Chris with a lovely card and biscuits. The place was lovely, quiet and private, just as on the pictures, and perfect for (website hidden) facilities are a bit limited but it's perfectly adequate for cooking simple meals for two people. It was winter and cold weather, and unfortunately we only found out on the last day that actually it's really cosy and warm, if only we had kept the door to the hallway closed! The location is ideal, in close proximity of lovely coastal walks, shops, Eden project etc. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
The accommodation is as described, although much nicer than in the pictures. Old, cute cottage with original features. Very clean and cosy. We didn't meet Joanna and Chris but they were in regular contact with directions and to check everything was okay. The cottage is well placed to travel all over Cornwall. Would definitely recommend!
The Mill house was a warm welcome and a fun trip for us, we were traveling to Eden Project and it was close by.
We loved our stay here! The Apartment is a great base to explore Cornwall, it's cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. Chris and Joanna were fantastic hosts and gave us a great recommendation for dinner (Sam's on the beach). We only wish we could've stayed longer!
Thank you for your warm welcome Joanna and Christ - The Apartment was perfect as a place to rest our weary heads after an enjoyable day and evening visiting friends in Fowey.
Everything was clean, The Apartment was warm and all our needs catered for ... even down to lovely fresh ground coffee in the jar. Perfect. When my daughter left stuff in the drawers in her bedroom - Chris was good enough to call us and we were able to return to pick the things up. Thank you so much, it avoided a lot of stress.
The apartment was really good, very easy to find and a great location for the Eden Project. The apartment was perfect size for us (2 adults, 1 child and 1 baby). Everything we needed was there and suited us perfectly. The apartment is right on the road but this was not an issue as we drove everywhere. We missed Joanna and Chris but they left the keys out for us and we had their number in case of any problems. Thanks for a great stay!
Thank you for the review, Kate. Glad you enjoyed your stay and found the information folder/maps useful when planning excursions - and found the beds comfortable.
Luckily almost everyone who stays travels by car and The Apartment's situation is great for exploring the local area and the rest of the County. Public transport really is not very good!

We live in Cornwall with an assortment of much loved pets - two mad dogs, JCJ and Millie, Big Grey Cat or BG, various ducks, chickens, some sheep and an assortment of equines, mostly quite aged.
We really enjoy hosting through Airbnb and want to share our home with our guests and help them to enjoy and love Cornwall as much as we do, having been born and bred here.
Our favourite place is St. Just in West Cornwall but due to business commitments we actually live for most of the time just outside St. Austell in Mid Cornwall.
We are always happy to help with any problems, give advice, suggest beaches to visit, where to buy fresh Cornish produce (and the best Cornish pasties!) and, hopefully, ensure that you have a wonderful holiday or break in Cornwall.
We hope to introduce you to some Cornish food: in addition to pasties there is saffron cake, Cornish clotted cream (with scones and jam) wonderful, freshly caught fish, Cornish gingerbread biscuits and so much more!
Our household is a busy one: so many animals, family coming and going, and our home to prepare for each and every one of our guests - we hope that every guest will enjoy their stay and return with happy memories of their stay in this beautiful County.
