The apartment Mondrian is an exclusive holiday accommodation which stands out for its well-cared decor inspired in the 50s-60s. It is situated in the Gros neightbourhood, next to La Zurriola beach and just two minutes away from the most commercial area in San Sebastian. It faces a large block courtyard with trees so it is especially quiet.
Mondrian is located on the third floor of a building with a lift and, as it is next to the Giacometti apartment, it is a very convenient option for those travelling as a group. Both apartments have been recently refurbished (July 2013).
The apartment Mondrian has a spacious open plan day-time area including a lounge-dining room and a modern kitchenette. It is a very bright room thanks to a large window facing south. In the lounge area there is a comfortable Italian designed sofa-bed,a beautiful sideboard 1950s style, two armchairs and a flat screen TV set. At the back of the sofa, there is a practical dining table and chairs where you will be able to enjoy delicicous meals before going out to visit San Sebastian.
The modern kitchenette is perfectly equipped with top of the range electrical appliances and complete kitchenware.
The bedroom at Mondrian is quite large. There is a double bed of 150 cm, a big wardrobe and a spacious en-suite bathroom equipped with a shower.
The vacation apartment Mondrian also offers air-conditioning and the possibility to hire a parking space in a nearby car park, which is very convenient if you come to San Sebastian by car.
Mondrian, together with Giacometti constitute the perfect holiday combination for a group of friends or two small families travelling together.
Parking available 2 minutes walk from the apartment for 13€/(website hidden) description:
The Urumea River separates Gros from the Old Town and from the City Centre by two different bridges, giving it an obvious closeness to them. It borders on the Bay of Biscay at North, on the Ulia Mountain at East and on the Urumea River and the Kursaal Convention Centre at West.
La Zurriola Beach, the newest of them all in San Sebastian, is located in this neighbourhood. It is very popular among surf lovers and professional surfers and it is also just a five minute stroll away from La Concha Beach. At the end of the promenade along La Zurriola, at the side of the Ulia Mountain, there is an area of houses, pintxo bars and pubs called Sagües. It is a favourite spot among young people. There is also a great esplanade and leisure activity area here.
There are lots of shops all around Gros and in the last few years, it has become a very popular area for those in search of good quality pintxo bars and pubs. However, if what you are looking for is to follow a complete route of typical pintxos, it is a must to finish in the Old Town, just a 7 minute stroll from Gros.
There are some wonderful walks to be enjoyed from Gros to other parts of the city. For instance, starting at Sagües and walking all along La Zurriola promenade until you reach the Paseo Nuevo, a magic place when the Cantabrian Sea is rough. From here you can go up the Urgull Mountain, a mere 15-20 minute climb, then come down to the harbour and from there back again to the Old Town and Gros. A trully enjoyable all around walk.
The Gros neighbourhood has several supermarkets and other grocery shops for those of you who prefer to enjoy a more intimate dinner at the apartment. If you are visiting the city by car, you should know there are three large public car parks in the area: Plaza de Cataluña, Kursaal and Txofre.
Thanks to a modern and wide network of public transport, the Antiguo is very well connected to the other city neighbourhoods. For more information on public transport you can visit the official webpage: (website hidden)

This is a great apartment for 2 people, but will fit 4 with the very comfortable sleeper couch. Unfortunately it is a one bedroom and the sleeper is in the living area so if it's out and in use, there's no room to walk at all. Beautifully done, great bathroom, but NO HOOKS ANYWHERE! No hooks for wet towels in the bathroom, only outside on the small terrace (really small) and if it's raining, nothing will dry soon. If you need anything, someone will come within hours to help you (towels, pillows, etc.). This was the best service of any of the apartment rental services we used on our trip. Location was great, 10 minutes tops into the Old City. Also had a good supply of closet space and HANGERS, thank you, and not the crappy metal hangers you get from the cleaners or flimsy plastic one. WOOD! HOT WATER FOR DAYS AS WELL!
All in all, a great stay but be warned, if you have two small kids no problem, two adults, it's just too small...
Apartment is in a great location, a short 10min walk to the old town and looks just like in the photos. Comfy bed with all the necessary amenities included, and nicely decorated. The apartment is free from any street noise, but the air well where the bedroom/toilet opens out to does transmit a bit of noise from the neighbours on occasion. So the windows need to be closed when sleeping. I did not meet Juan, but a gentleman from the rental company met us at the apartment. We were a bit early and they kindly allowed us to leave our bags at the office which is in a little square about 100m away on the same street. There is also a friendly and convenient breakfast place just next to the apartment block entrance. All in, I would highly recommend this place.
Very nice apartment, good location, 10 mn walks from the beach, and the old city.
Quiet place, totally refurbished and beautiful, very clean.
Juan ra is such a nice person, very helpful, and available for customers.
We have 2 kids, the cot and high chair were clean, brand new.
We spent 5 wonderful days in San Sebastian.
Very stylish flat - all very clean . Great bed. Great location. A few niggles meant we felt it was over priced (quite small and a bit dark)- but we did book at the last minute. Communication could have been better - didn't get responses to my emails before arrival so this was disappointing. Could have better info on what to do locally. But the response to problems was very good- he was there in 5 minutes when we couldn't get the air con on.
We loved this apartment. It was very clean and comfortable which made our stay in San Sebastián so great! The apartment felt fresh and pretty much brand new! Juan and his team were efficient and very professional. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting San Sebastián! Thank you Juan!
