The Space

We are in the heart of if all and yet secluded.

We offer discounts for multiple-month stays. It's a great place to stay when you come to Portland to work or are moving here!

Your home away from home is fully stocked with all you need to get started. Just bring your toothbrush.

This is the garden level of our well-loved 1925 Vintage duplex. With complete privacy, your entrance through the gate. As daylight lower level of duplex, this sub-terra apartment has large sun-kissed South facing windows in the Living Room and the Bedroom. Cool in the Summer. Warm and cozy in the Winter.

You have your own private entrance. Your home away from home is completely self-contained with your own kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom. Enjoy the shared backyard. During the season, graze from the vegetable garden, read a book, hang out. Enjoy your own BBQ!
We're on N. Michigan Ave at N. Shaver and are on Portland's Bike Greenway Grid, so area is super bike friendly!
A super healthy grocery store “New Seasons" with an abundant array of food choices, housewares, etc is a leisure 15 min walk from here.
Walk, jump on a bike, bus, light-rail or car!

Sleeping arrangements:
Private bedroom as pillow top Queen bed. In the Living room: there is a full sized sofa bed comfy futon. Posted rate is for 4 people. $50/night for additional adult guests for up to 5 guests.
Pets are welcomed with owner's prior approval & completed Friendly Furry Friend Agreement.

Welcome & thank you for choosing Mississippi Fun District. Once you've booked, go to Airbnb chat box & pop us a note:
1. Check-in is at 4pm or after. Let us know your arrival time as we like to welcome you, show you around & answer questions you may have.

Sorry, no early check-in or late check out. We do not store luggage before check-in or after check-out. Be sure to make provisions accordingly.
2. Check out is 11am or before. What is your departure time?
3. Names of other guests that are with you & their contact info?
4. What sleeping arrangements do we need to have ready for you?
5. ACCESS- Your home away from home is through the gate to the left of the house. Lockbox is mounted to the right of your entrance, the red door. Passcode is updated with each stay. If we aren't there to great you, we'll either text or Airbnb chat you your personal code. Please text us to let us know you arrived and are getting settled alright.
6. Bring with you print out HOUSE RULES below as it's stuffed with essential details.

Interaction with Guests

Depending when you arrive 4p or after, we will let you in, show you around, help you get settled and answer any question you may have. If we are out of town or you arrive let, we will give you lock box code . Let yourself in and read Welcome Letter. If we're traveling, there's back-up person's number on fridge. Please let us know if you need anything or have any requests while you are here.

The Neighborhood

This is a super fun destination location on N. Michigan at N. Shaver. With eats treats and beats right around the corner, you have a full array of restaurants, bars, shopping. There's a full-on healthy grocery store “New Seasons" 0.7 mile, a leisure 15 minute walk. Public street parking. No time restrictions, no permits and no fee required. Urban setting so use common security precautions, like lock doors when you leave.

Getting Around

We are on a bike path. Portland has great bike lane system. # 4 bus is around the corner on Mississippi Ave. The Max Light rail is West on Failing St, over pedestrian bridge. Walk a block and there's the tracks. I5 access: Drive north, then left onto Skidmore, over the bridge & follow signs. See House Rules (Manual) for directions from PDX Airport. Our street is city bike path. Walk score is >88. Healthy food store about 8 blocks. Convenience store just behind us on Mississippi Av. Lots of restaurants, lounges and shopping on Miss Ave too!
Public street parking requires no fees or permits. Plenty of parking during the day. At night with the restaurants around the corner, parking gets busy.

2.3 miles to the center of downtown
2.4 miles to Portland's Convention Center
8.5 miles to the airport.

House Rules

Please read & print this out. Familiarize everybody with you about the following. You are responsible for them. :)
Please let us know how we can help you make the most of your stay while you are here! My phone number is posted on fridge & in your reservations details.

INTERNET ACCESS: network- traveler14. Password- See Welcome Letter on fridge. If you have trouble getting on, we can confirm internet is live.
KITCHEN: Explore around. Feel free to use whatever housewares you need while here. If you don't find something you would like, please let us know. We might have it for you! Trash is in blue cabinet door. Recycling is under kitchen sink. Compost bin is on the shelf to right of kitchen sink. Please no meat, dairy or paper in compost bin.
•Washer & dryer- To avoid damage or injury, keep both doors closed when not actively loading or unloading. Do not place anything in front of these appliances. Keep clearance, so can doors open & close freely.
BEDDING- We'll have your beds ready, however if you need to expand your sleeping arrangements, please let us know.
TOWELS are in bathroom towel rack. TP is in vanity drawer. If you need more, let us know!
CENTRAL HEATING- Thermostat is pre-set for entire building, upstairs and downstairs apartment. Thermostat for accessory wall heater in living room is at the far end of the room & bedroom thermostat is near light switch. Please turn off heaters when you leave for any period of time. TOILET- If toilet continues to run, jiggle handle. Once in blue moon, the flapper doesn't come down.
BACKYARD- Feel free to hang out in backyard. Have a BBQ. It's a share space, so be sure to tidy up as you leave area.
TRASH & RECYCLING- Go outside, go to your left & will be on your right at the gate. Portland recycles glass bottles by themselves in yellow bins. Plastic bottles, tin cans & paper in blue bins. Please flatten boxes.
Thanks for taking good care of the place for your enjoyment & continued enjoyment of others. A few heads-up items…
o Don't hang wet items on any furniture. Use hooks & hangers.
o Don't cut/chop on counter top. Use cutting boards. Use coaster provided for drinks. Wipe up your spills.
o Please no shoes on furniture or beds.
o Do not tamper with smoke detectors, lockbox or window screens.
o Enjoy your hootenanny! Please observe 11p-9a quiet times. If you enjoy the backyard, and please do, please clean up right when you are done.
* All well-mannered children, and well-mannered adults for that matter, are welcome!
* No bikes allowed in house. There's bike racks in back yard. If you have special needs with your bike, please inquire.
o Please keep track of your key. Losing your can can be an unnecessary expense. Tip- put in lock box when ever you go out. That way it doesn't get lost when you are out to dinner or on the bus... ;)
o Put your cleaned dishes pots and pans away.
oToss your trash & recycling into labeled bins in side yard, to right of gate. Put compost-no meat, dairy, paper- into labeled bin.
o Keep towels hanging in bathroom. Toss sheets & pillow cases used into washer. Leave mattress pad, comforter and shams on beds.
o Return key to lock box & text us as you are on your way! Thanks!
