The space

This beautiful cabin is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. There is a private deck overlooking the year-round creek. It's quiet and secluded, but only about 5 minutes from Calaveras Big Trees State Park, and a short drive into town. There are several good restaurants in the area, and wine tasting is available at award winning local wineries. Area attractions include hiking, skiing, outdoor sports, caves and caverns, and several historic gold rush towns and small museums.

The cabin has an updated, fully equipped kitchen. There is wireless internet. Although there is no television reception, there is a small television for watching DVDs.

There is a queen size bed in the upstairs bedroom, and a full size futon in the living room. We provide linens and towels.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture or beds. We provide a dog bed. We do charge an extra $25 (per visit, not per night) if you bring a dog.

Other things to note

We have a 3 night minimum during holiday periods.

The cabin is very lovely. It is easily reached from hwy 4 and only 30 minutes drive from Bear Valley. Our hostess, Sandy, was very helpful. There are houses very close to the cabin, so it's not exactly secluded. However, we didn't see any of the neighbors. We enjoyed sitting on the deck by the roaring creek. There is no snow there (early April 2017) but still lots of snow closer to Bear Valley. The cabin was well stocked with everything we could have needed (dishes, pots & pans, spices & oils, towels, books & games) and the wifi was great. There is even a small TV. Comfy queen sized bed and comfy seating downstairs in the living room. We enjoyed our stay.

Sandy was fast to respond to any questions I had. We arrived in winter after a LARGE snow dump, and had a difficult time finding the home. Also, 4wd would have been a must for our visit! Neighbors told me this amount of snow was unusual but luckily we were prepared. Cabin had all the basics and was very clean. Only 30 minutes to Bear Valley for skiers. Very quiet and peaceful!!! We would come back if we ever return to B.V. for more skiing.

Lovely quiet cabin in the woods 20-25min drive from Bear Valley. The night sky is spectacular.

Our stay at the cabin was exceeded our expectations! It was absolutely perfect for a private getaway for the two of us and our dog over Christmas weekend. Coming from the city, you feel like you are a million miles away, but you are only a couple minutes off the main road and a half mile walk to a very good bar with solid food and drink..The Lube. Although we didn't have to use our tire chains on the Prius while we were here, we would have definitely needed them had it been colder or snowing. The cabin is about a 15min drive to a supermarket, 40min drive to Alpine Lake/Bear Valley Ski resort. Inside, the cabin itself is stocked with basics in terms of cooking equipment. The bed is quite comfortable and the rest of the home is very simply a cabin should be! Wifi is strong, but cell signal is spotty. There is lots of room behind the house to wander through the snow-covered trees. Sandy was able to accommodate a last minute booking and was very communicative. Her suggestions and hikes were all very appropriate and we are grateful and we are already thinking about a summer trip.

Thank you Sandy for a wonderful stay we had right. We made the reservation in the morning of the trip and Sandy answered all of our questions. Sandy even provided detail driving directions when we were about to arrive late. She responded to every single email I sent in a very timely manner. When we arrived, the fireplace was already turned on and it was so welcoming to us. Our family of three wanted to have a quiet snow retreat with our dog and we had a wonderful one. We got to walk in the snow in the forest nearby. The cabin had everything we needed for two days' stay. Thank you Sandy for sharing your cabin with us and we will be back for sure.
