This beautiful cabin is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. There is a private deck overlooking the year-round creek. It's quiet and secluded, but only about 5 minutes from Calaveras Big Trees State Park, and a short drive into town. There are several good restaurants in the area, and wine tasting is available at award winning local wineries. Area attractions include hiking, skiing, outdoor sports, caves and caverns, and several historic gold rush towns and small museums.
The cabin has an updated, fully equipped kitchen. There is wireless internet. Although there is no television reception, there is a small television for watching DVDs.
There is a queen size bed in the upstairs bedroom, and a full size futon in the living room. We provide linens and towels.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
This Dorrington cabin is such a treat, both inside and the surrounding areas. We had a great time swimming in Lake Alpine during the day and coming back to the cabin to work on one of many puzzles available at the cabin.
We had a lovely time at Sandy's place - like other reviewers have mentioned, the pictures don't do it justice. It is roomy, updated, and in a beautiful setting. We loved sitting on the deck sipping coffee and listening to the birds. There are lots of fantastic movies, board games, and puzzles for cozy evenings. The location is great - close to Murphy's for wine tasting, Big Trees SP is down the road, and a 30-60 minute drive to Lake Alpine, Bear Valley, and several high elevation hikes. Our dog had a wonderful time as well - the dog bowls and bed are a plus!
The red cabin was great. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful and relaxing time.
Proximity to Big Trees park is amazing, and the gas/grocery stores are close enough that you don't feel too isolated.
Our dog loved romping around in the woods around the house. The forest behind the cabin is great, and the creek on the front side is nice as well.
There is a bit of a trick to finding the place, as it looks like you're going into the driveway of the neighbors' cabin, which threw us off. Just be sure to arrive with plenty of daylight. I don't think the neighbors were home, so we had a very high level of privacy for the duration of the weekend.
Thanks Sandy for a great stay!
Sandy's cabin was amazing. The cabin was clean and spacious and the surrounding area is extremely quiet and serene. We brought our dog and he loved it.
Make sure you bring flashlights because it does get really dark at night. There are no streetlights and you are pretty much secluded from everyone else outside of the people in the neighboring homes.
It was a bit tricky finding the place, but just look for the yellow fire hydrant!
Super clean home, stocked with everything we needed. Definitely best to arrive here in daylight as the area is dark. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We LOVED staying in Sandy's cozy cabin for our 19 year old daughter's birthday weekend! The location is beautiful, down a country road and very private. Our dog ran around and loved the creek just outside the door. The cabin itself is very nice, with a new kitchen, great living room with pull out futon, and a private upstairs bedroom with great views. Nearby Alpine Lake is 30 minute drive and GORGEOUS! Great for swimming and fun hikes for the entire family. Sandy leaves plenty of bottled water for people and pets to drink. Look for the big tree off Frontage Road, that's the turn for Meadow Lane.
The Cabin was great. We had a great time and the cabin is located right near to everything, but is still removed enough to have a private get away. All the amenities were clean and cozy. There is wifi and a land line if you want to make connection to the outside, but I was fairly relieved when I couldn't get any signal on my phone. Thanks again and will hopefully get to visit again sometime. Sandy is a wonder communicator too, and was extremely helpful.
Lovely little cabin nestled in the woods, but with a lot of light because it's across from a huge pasture. Extremely quiet and quaint, but close to everything -- Calaveras Big Trees state park, Arnold, Bear Valley. I particularly appreciate Sandy's willingness to host well-behaved dogs. Mine had a blast. We will be back.
Such a great little cabin, Sandy's pictures don't do it justice. The cabin must have been recently updated, the bathroom looks practically brand new. The bedroom is super spacious with a nice comfortable bed. The place is equipped with the necessities for entertaining yourselves once it is too dark to go outside, such as board games and an eclectic choice of books and movies. Sandy also provided brochures for the main attractions in the area. The location couldn't be better, 5 minutes from big trees park, and 15 minutes from town. We also heard there are some other great hiking trails just a bit north of the cabin but ran out of time to explore. Overall we had a great weekend. We are already talking about coming back this winter to try some snow shoeing or cross-country skiing.
This place was not only perfectly named, but really exceeded my expectations on all counts. The cabin was nicely appointed and had everything we needed for a quiet few days in the mountains. Very comfortable and out of the way, yet close to the main road, and nearby to Big Trees State Park. The market in Arnold is very well stocked and we were able to make gourmet meals for little cost. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a small, cozy space for two people.
