Walker's Paradide score of 97! Short walk to W hotel, Trader Joes, Hollywood Farmers Market (Sundays), Ameoba Records, Arclight, many restaurants, coffee shops and the best night life in Los Angeles. Great bars, and eateries all walkable.

Apartment offers view of interior courtyard and trees outside in a very clean, old world style registered historical landmark 1920’s Hollywood brick building that's also amazingly quiet.

If renting a car - save the 22% airport tax fees and rent near by. I have a corporate account set up for guests with set rates at Enterprise just 3 blocks away. They do pick ups. I recommend taking an $8.50 bus/subway combo to get to and from airport. More info provided to guests.

Getting around

The Metrorail, which is our subway, is just 4 blocks away with direct access to Universal Studios, Koreatown, Downtown LA and more parts of LA. Bus route on Santa Monica blvd is just 2 blocks away and goes all the way to Santa Monica beach with stops along the way in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood and Santa Monica.

  • I really liked staying in this appartment. Very convenient location, the appartment was cosy and neat and the courtyard was very pretty. We had no problems finding free parking spaces close to the appartment. Self check-in was perfect for us since we arrived really late. Would stay again!

  • The location is excellent. The room is nice, neat and lovely, the entire building is very nice and the courtyard is just gorgeous, wow.
    It's located in a very convenient area - easy to find parking, which I was worried the most about.
    Matt & Sheena were always available and responded very quickly. Self check-in/out makes everything very simple.

  • Matt's place was great and within walking distance to everything I needed. The deli downstairs is awesome (try the thanksgiving sandwich!) and the apartment itself is really nice. Matt was extremely accommodating when I needed to extend my stay at very short notice. Would stay again for sure!

  • Matthew was polite and answered all our questions promptly. We stay for 3 days at his Vine place. It was a 5 min walk to the subway and 15 min to the walk of fame. The place was probably built around the 1950s so it has an older look to it but it was comfortable and quiet. Thank you!

  • Matthew was a very accessible host. The apartment was tidy with great closet space, and the space is just as described and shown in the pictures. Super quite for a good rest.
    We could not access the Netflix service during our stay but he reset it afterwards. WIFI did work fine.
    Great dining and drinking spots nearby, good access to street parking, and Trader Joe's Supermarket.
    I would stay there again!

  • Hiccups at the airport, car rental and traffic caused us to arrive quite late. The easy entrance wasn't so easy but eventually we made it through the locked gates of Villa Elaine, the historical apartments where Matthew's studio lies.

    The entrance was breathtaking. The entry, foyer and gardens were lovingly attended, it is clear to see the magic that was planned when the Villa was built ~ whenever that was... Orson Wells, Frank Sinatra and a host of others lived there once upon a time.

    Reaching Matthew's apartment in the back side of the 106 or so apartments wasn't as breathtaking. Once inside the halls it feels like an old dormitory with shabby carpet and echo-y walls.

    I didn't know what to expect, the difference between the grand entrance and the seedy-feeling halls was enormous but his studio is clean, comfortable and straight out of a black and white 60s television show. It's a studio, with a kitchen and a dressing room. It has so much potential ~ I wanted to attack it with a paintbrush and show off those high ceilings, throw open the curtains and windows and make it come alive. At the same time, I appreciated the retro look and feel. If you want an experience of Hollywood, this is a great place to start. It's old, it's funky and it suits the purpose beautifully. It's hard to find parking on a busy Saturday night, I spent $36 at a parking garage a few blocks away, but on Sunday night it was easy as pie.

    Matthew was an absent host but attentive and helpful.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Matthew's apartment!

    The location is great. It is very close to shops, attractions and nightlife. Parking is street parking and we never experienced any difficulties finding a parking space. The apartment in itself is as shown on the pictures. It was clean, quiet and nice - it also felt really safe. There is not much cooking equipment, but the basics are there (and there are so many nice places to eat out or get a take-away). Check-in/out was hassle free.

  • No conocí a Matthew personalmente pero tampoco hizo falta, el fue super eficaz con el tema del check in y el check out y se mostró disponible por si llegará a necesitar algo, lo que no hizo falta. El departamento es bastante cómodo y tiene todo lo necesario. Está en un edificio muy lindo y con gente muy amigable. Por ahí lo único que juega en contra es el tema que en determinados horarios es realmente complicado el tema del estacionamiento en la calla.
