About this listing
Our charming house was built in 1915-we have four bedrooms, a formal dining room, chef's kitchen, living room with working fireplace, cozy/sunny breakfast nook, large backyard with garden and large trampoline. Perfect location for families or other!
Single family home within walking distance to Golden Gate Park and all that it has to offer, including the Japanese Tea Garden, the DeYoung museum, and the Academy of Sciences museum. 1 to 4 blocks away from many restaurants, markets, and coffee shops on Geary Blvd, including Peet's Coffee, Joe's Ice Cream, Gaspare's Pizza, a great wine shop, and a great food market. Also about 2 blocks away from a great park, and about 6 minutes drive to the Golden Gate Bridge. You get the idea - centrally located. Perfect for a family of 4 or 5.
The house is a beautiful, 1915 Edwardian with Craftsman elements. Great for families with kids. Backyard with barbeque and a newer trampoline. Open, gourmet kitchen (fully stocked - my wife is a trained cook). Beautiful living room with working fireplace, and formal dining room.
We also have 3 cats - so, if you are open to taking care of our indoor/outdoor cats during your stay, all the better (but not necessarily required)!
Our neighborhood is close to easy city transportation-walking/biking distance to Golden Gate Park and the Presidio, the neighborhood has every kind of food imaginable within a few blocks!
There are 3 main house rules:
1) Treat the house as if it were your own
3) see #1 and #2
We had a great time in San Francisco. We immediately felt at home and loved the house and the garden. Golden Gate Park is at walking distance, just like Presidio. The rest we did by bike, bus, car and taxi.
While we were staying in the house, there were fleas. Terry was supportive in dealing with this problem and reacted quickly.
This is a lovely spacious family home, with a lovely garden and a great kitchen (which alas I didnt get to use on this short trip). The area is quiet but has some really nice restaurants (great sushi!). An early morning trip to nearby Baker Beach was lovely.
The house was exactly what we expected and all that we had hoped for. It was beautifully furnished, the kitchen was well supplied for cooking which we did every day, and the bedrooms were very comfortable & suited our needs, although a bit more room for our clothing would have been appreciated. The neighborhood was great offering plenty of food stores for shopping, restaurants for eating out & easy transportation for getting around. All in all the house was great & Terry was readily available for helping out, certainly made our stay in SF a memorable one.
This has been a great experience for my family and me. Terry and his family shared their house with us!
The house is actually better than the description and surpassed all our expectations. The instructions were on point, the support was unbelievable, Terry even went out of his way to meet us and give us all the help we needed.
Overall, we loved SF and we loved the house
House was SOO charming, just as the description, great neighborhood. Terry left a great "instruction / recommendations" guide, with hints to domestic house stuff, as well as to recommended restaurants and bars.
All went perfect and it was a great spot to enjoy SF at its best with the family.
Terry was a wonderful host and ensured me and my family have the best time in San Francisco. The house is absolutely beautiful and is stocked with the most thoughtful supplies. The option to drink wine was an additional bonus:)
My family and I had an amazing time at the Whalen home. It was myself, my husband and my four year old son and my mother eventually joined us for a few days. The house was roomy and had a great outdoor space and trampoline for my son. It had all the necessary amenities plus being able to get in and out of the city as needed. We also really enjoyed how relaxed we felt in the house despite being just a block away from a major thoroughfare. Would definitely recommend.
About the Host, Terry
I am a 46 year old husband and father. My wife and I live in san francisco with our 2 kids, and I like to play tennis, kayak, swim and paddleboard in the ocean, and I do internet marketing. I love the TV series Nash Bridges, is that weird?
