We have been told that our house (our pride and joy) is like living at a Resort in the suburbs. We are proud of what we have achieved with our renovations.
Feel free to contact us and we look forward to sharing our home and the wonderful surrounding area with you.
Guests have access to the whole house but in particular the beautiful deck, swimming pool and Outside kitchen/bbq area.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to have as much or as little interaction with our guests that they would like. We can help with your tour bookings and directions around town.
Our neighbourhood is usually quiet. One can wake to the sounds of the native birds chirping in the mornings. We have Kookaburras laughing regularly.
Come visit us and you will soon see why we love our neighbourhood.
We have a good transport system e.g. regular buses to and from the city. If you don't wish to use the bus service a taxi will do.
If we are going your way we would love to take you to your destination.
Other Things to Note
We have great coffee shops, bakery, butcher and restaurants close by within walking distance to enjoy at your leisure.
Smoking outdoors only. PLEASE NOTE: Make sure you are not near any doorways as the smell of smoke wafts into the house. Please be mindful of the other occupants of the house. It would be appreciated if you would empty the ashtray daily and before checking out.
The pool can be used anytime but please be aware of other guests and neighbours with noise.
When using the pool DEFINITELY NO GLASS past the glass fence. There are plastic glasses and plates in the bbq cupboards which can be taken beyond the glass fence.
Please DO NOT hang wet towels or clothing over the furniture in your room. There is a personal clothes line outside the Sunflower Room, another in the back yard or in the carport for your clothing. A towel rack(made by Tony) is in your room for your wet towels.
Thank you for your understanding with this matter.
Your comfortable Queen Bed with a small desk for writing your postcards or using your computer.
Lynn and Tony are great hosts, very friendly and helpful. They picked me up at the airport and dropped me off to the dive boat I was going to in the morning (and let me leave some things while I was on the boat). The cottage is beautiful and the room very comfortable, I would happily recommend to anyone going to the Cairns area.
Lynn and Tony were amazing! They really made us feel welcome and went out of their way to help us out (a few times). They picked us up, they took us to the airport and they even dropped us off to a rental car place so we could rent a car for the day. The room was very clean and we had easy access to everything we needed during our stay. Overall we had a wonderful experience!
I cannot thank Lynn and Tony enough for their hospitality during my recent stay.
The house , garden and my room were spotless and very well maintained.
The outdoor kitchen and eating area was a great bonus.
Tony and Lynn went the extra mile to make sure my stay was stress free and enjoyable, even dropping me at the airport.
I will definitely stay here again when I am in Cairns next.
I had my first two nights in cairns here and it was a great way to start my tropical holiday
Staying in the Hibiscus Room for 5 days 4 nights, was one of the best experiences my boyfriend and I had in Cairns.
Firstly, Lynn and Tony are very endearing and kind-natured people who never failed to make us feel welcome in their place and helped us out by giving us a lift to town, even at 7am for the Seastar Great Barrier Reef snorkeling tour. We really appreciated that! The warmth of their home could also be felt from their 3 pets, Xana a ginger cat, Kira the white dog and Sonny a pink-cheeked bird. We absolutely adored them, especially Xana who was nonchalant about everything except having her chin scratched.
Secondly, we stayed in the Hibiscus room which was conveniently located next to the outdoor pool (which you can use whenever you want) as well as the outdoor kitchen and dining area (which are both sheltered so it's has a quaint alfresco feel). We enjoyed cooking and dining there on a few occasions!
Thirdly, the room itself was cosy and nice, a queen sized bed with a study table and chair in the corner, as well as a wardrobe. The room was located at the rear of the house and the shared bathroom was just 3metres away from the room, giving us ample privacy.
Fourthly, we wanted a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the town area. Edge Hill was perfectly balanced, located near the serene botanic gardens with shops nearby e.g. a well-stocked supermarket i.e. IGA just 700metres away from the Weeping Tree Cottage. There were other excellent places to eat e.g. a Thai takeaway place, Noa and in the Botanic gardens itself, we recommend brunch at the Wild Bean Cafe. Moreover, the Weeping Tree Cottage was the ideal place to base ourselves, as we opted for activities such as the AJ Hackett bungy jump and the Down and Dirty ATV ride that were located closer to the Edge Hill area.
We genuinely thank Lynn and Tony for giving travelers like us such a lovely home away from home. You guys are the best!
Our stay with Tony and Lynn was short but sweet. They were there to welcome us into their home when we arrived, offered to drop us at the airport, and even got up to say goodbye at 4 a.m. The room was clean and spacious, with very tasteful decorations and a helpful information booklet about the b&b. The house is located within walking distance of some very tasty restaurants and we especially enjoyed swimming in the pool! It should be noted that to do laundry separately from the household washing, there is a $5 fee.
Tony and Lynn made us feel very welcomed! We had a really nice and comfortable room as well as a big bbq place/kitchen area with a lot of space to cook:) We enjoyed to spend time at the pool and just relaxing at this nice place! Thank you very much for help and just great 9 days!

We are a fun loving retired couple who love sharing our home with family and visitors alike. I (Lynn) have been hosting international students for the past 24 years. Tony is new to hosting (only 7 years) and is loving it too. We enjoy being ambassadors for our region of which we are very proud.
We enjoy rock n roll dancing and entertaining guests. We often have friends and family visit for bar-b-ques or dinner parties.
I (Lynn) love cooking and trying new recipes.
Between us we have travelled extensively. Some of our favourite places are Canada, Uluru (Ayres Rock), Japan, Tasmania and cruising the South Pacific.
We love going to musicals especially those produced by our Local Choral Society.Tony (being a bit of a revhead) loves attending the local speedway. I am learning to enjoy this sport too. We enjoy watching any sport (mainly on television) which includes our local or Australian Teams e.g. Tennis, Basketball, Cricket and Football. We have recently attended the Brisbane International Tennis. What an amazing time we had. 50's 60's music is our favourite dance music. You will often hear this music played throughout the day.
While staying with us you can enjoy as much privacy as you wish or you can join us at anytime including mealtimes to share your days activities or just talking.
Chatting about our beautiful country is something we enjoy immensely and we love hearing about your countries too.
