We stayed at the Bungalow for three nights. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Christel herself, but her partner was very friendly and helpful.
The place is remote and very lovely. It is surrounded by lots of plants and trees. You can hear the waves of the ocean at night and the roosters in the morning. All of the walls were screens so you get a very close feeling of being surrounded by jungle. That also means having to be aware of leaving food out. Otherwise ants could be an issue. Due to surroundings it is quite humid, but the fan provided helps. The walk to the beach is short and the beach itself is quite lovely.
We recommend the place for everyone who feels at home in nature.
Christel was wonderful! The bungalow was perfect, and the neighborhood was so relaxing.
We stayed for a few days and had a memorable experience. It is a bit rustic (there are some ants and Mosquitos) but that is part of what makes the bungalow unique. The beach down the street is nice and quiet, far from the resorts.
This place was really lovely! We sat in the wonderful back yard and read our books for at least a little bit of every afternoon. The sink in the bathroom did not work, but that did not bother us. The one down fall of having screens on all sides is that ants can get in easily. Even though we were vigilant about keeping all food in the fridge or tightly sealed, there were still quite a few around - including in the bed. However, they didn't bite and weren't too bothersome and it was worth the trade-off of being able to hear the rain all through the night. Over all, a great little place to stay.
We had a great experience at Christel's bungalow. Christel was a kind host, and the bungalow was very private and tucked away. Finding it was a bit of a challenge, because the street is so beautiful and lush. You will find it on the right of a fork in the road - there is a cute "Slow, mammals at play" sign right where the bungalow is.
Staying here is similar to camping - maybe "glamping". One thing I will say is that if you are afraid of bugs, you are in the jungle, and this place is all screens. The bungalow was very clean and no sign of bugs when we arrived. But, we attracted some ants during our time there, and saw a couple other bugs. But again - this is what you sign up for in a bungalow like this, so I knew what I was getting into! Just be sure you're not too squeamish about bugs or it may stress you out. :)
Again, the place was very clean and simple. We had a great time. The bed is super comfy! And the walk to the beach is lovely and very quick. The beach was probably the best we visited, and you're right in between Kapa'a and Princeville, which is a convenient location. We even made dinner one night, the kitchen has everything you need. It is quite private and romantic in the evening, hearing the ocean and waking up to the sound of roosters and birds. A unique and lovely experience that we will always remember.
