  • We booked roberts spatious 7 man tent for a single night. He recently relocated the tent to a public campsite outside town, so it was different than we expected as our advertisement would be next to his house. Upon arival, Robert seemed a kind and helpful person, and the provided tent was very adequate. But do not expect a real shower, its all very basic.
However, at our stay, some youth terrorized the campsite and made noise all night, a litlle scaring even. This might be just be our bad luck though...and is not due to Roberts fault..,
If these people were not annoying all night long, i am sure we would have a wonderful camping experience, but now we had a less positive experience; could be just our bad luck though...

  • We much enjoyed our stay. Robert was very nice, treated us to coffee and small breakfast in the morning.

  • Robert welcomed us with a nice tent with a big airbed and a lot of blankets. The kitchen area with BBQ is nice and makes the camping experience (since we werent planning on camping when we arrived in the US) a comfortable one. Be prepared to face a cold shower (which is warm but not hot) but hey, you are in the mountains!
Roberts place is a 1-hour drive from Yosemite Park so a good place to stay if you plan on going there.

  • I reserved Robert's spacious tent for one night. However, due to some last minute personal problems, I was unable to actually stay the night.

But, I did meet up with Robert to explain my situation to him and he was very gracious and nice about it. I saw the tents too, and they indeed do look spacious. I would definitely try to stay here if I ever come up to Yosemite again.

  • The facilities stated in Robert's description is exactly what you'll get. However, I highly recommend arriving in Midpines while there is daylight, if not it'll be really easy to get lost in the area.

  • We had a great stay with Robert, who was a fantastically welcoming and outgoing host. The large teepee we slept in was perfect, with soft pillows and comfortable sleeping bags and mattresses which he provided upon request. Robert's property is located just outside of the park entrance and requires a 30-45 min drive into Yosemite Village. Freshly installed propane shower and useful patio and grill for preparing all meals and sitting down to eat. Will be back for sure!

  • Robert was great! Super accomodating and friendly. The tent was super spacious although we were just two, and the bed was pretty comfy. Extra blankets and sleeping bags to keep you warm. The only drawback was that even though we were just 30 mins to Yosemite's entrance, to get to any of the park (besides the river) we were at minimum 30 extra mins away. It was our first time and we were hardly there for 2 days so that was just a lot of time driving. Other than that, Robert and his wife are great and the baby is the cutest! Recommend!

  • Robert was a great host. Great location for those wanting to spent time at Yosemite. Robert had some great stories and was flexible with our time schedule. We wanted to get up super early to catch the sunrise, so Robert gave us yogurts that night and told us not to worry about returning the spoons he gave us. It was cold out in the tent as expected, but Robert had plenty of sleeping bags and blankets to keep us warm.

  • We wanted to stay close to the entrance to Yosemite for one night and were not sure if we would arrive late and if we then would want to set up our own tent up and search for an campground. So we took the option to stay at Midpine, at Roberts "7 man-tent".
Communication was easy, and Robert and his family were kind and nice and welcomed us in a nice way.

The tent ist okay, but had its best time. The matress is comfortable (but still packed in plastic wrapping, with a linen on top).
There were enough blankets and sleepingbags provided - they looked a bit used, so we prefered to use our own.
After arriving from laundry and diner in town (at around 8 pm) doors were closed, it took a while until we got in to get a tea and use the bathroom - which is normally closed from 11pm to 7 am- but Robert agreed to keep doors open this night.
The night was quite calm, besides dogs barking, and some street noise (starting around 6 am)
Breakfast-items (cornflakes/cereals, hot water for tea, jam, bagels, bread) was ready at the right time in the morning.

All in all I would have expected a bit more for the price, compared to other airbnb places we stayed til now and compared to regular campgrounds around.

    Response from Robert:

When you 'camp', most people bring their OWN tents, the OWN blankets, go to the bathroom in the woods, cant use a kitchen, Don't get free wifi, utensils, showers ... let alone get a FREE breakfast, tea etc.... all for just 40 dollars a night. Oh and not to forget the GREAT hosts who great you and see you on your way with a smile:) We do lock doors after 11 pm for the fact that we dont want anyone in the house when we are asleep, especially since we have a new born baby. For the winter months, we are going to be providing CANVAS tents with HEATERS!!! woopie. Much better than staying at a campground where charge you 40 bucks and all you get is packed in like sardines, no wifi, no kitchen, no tents, blankets, no breakfast, no great hosts, no friendly dogs, no purring cats, no luaghing babies and all the other curious critters that greet you at your tent in the middle of the night :D
