  • Although, over the years, we have had good experiences on airbnb in various countries, it is only on rare occasions that one meets a host with whom one wishes that the end of the stay is the start of a long friendship. Rita is one such host who made us feel that we were staying with a friend!

Two days before our arrival, Rita called my cell and her easy demeanor on the phone immediately put me at ease. She later sent me email instructions on how to get to the house and included a list of wineries and restaurants she likes in the Napa area. I thought this highly thoughtful as the main reason of our using airbnb is to get a somewhat local perspective of a place we are visiting.

Most experiences at an airbnb property start upon arrival. Our story though starts a little earlier and you shall soon understand why.

We spent most parts of the day of our arrival taking a tour of San Francisco. The ballet flats that my wife was wearing did not agree well with walking on the hills and her feet were so bruised that we had to leave the tour prematurely. We headed towards Napa with the plan to stop by a shoe shop on the way to buy something more comfortable for her to wear. But we completely underestimated how horrendous the traffic leaving San Francisco would be. Not wanting to arrive terribly late, we made haste directly for Rita's house.

She welcomed us at the door. Her easy manner on the phone was obvious in person. She immediately made us feel comfortable in her house and took us upstairs. The bedroom and bathroom were well appointed and clean. Our conversations with Rita was just warming up. But we sought her excuse explaining our need to buy a pair of shoes for my wife before the stores closed down. Rita asked what size shoes did my wife wear and immediately offered her a pair of new, unworn tennis shoes. We were so touched by her kindness that we could not refuse. As she put on the tennis shoes to go shoe shopping, I could the sense the relief in my wife at not having to endure the prospect of painful flats any further or having to go barefoot to the shoe stores.

Since Rita would leave early for work and come back in the evenings, we did not see as much of her in the next few days as we go busy visiting the wineries and eateries in Napa. She left coffee for us and let us have warm water for tea. The bedroom and the bathroom upstairs were comfortable and clean. I love books and was delighted to see all the books in her house. We had all the privacy that we needed. Rita's cat Boo would come and give us company sometimes.

We had a wonderful chat on the day of departure and left with warm memories!

  • We had a delightful time at Rita's house in Napa. We had a nice room with private bath, very clean and decorated beautifully. Rita gave us instructions on how to access the house since we didn't know our exact arrival time and she was coming back from a trip. Everything worked out well. Rita a little under the weather so we didn't much time to hang out but we would definitely use her residence again for our next trip to Napa!

  • Rita was a fantastic host! We got in later to Napa than expected but Rita made sure to keep in touch with us. Upon arriving we had bottled water and chocolates waiting for us. Her home is very comfortable and welcoming. We got to chat with Rita in the morning and she made us fresh coffee while talking with us more about the area. If it hadn't been for Rita, we might have missed the Oxbow Market! (Not to be missed if you're visiting Napa!) The location is a great starting point for touring the valley, and is also located conveniently to many grocery stores, coffee shops, etc. as well as just minutes away from downtown Napa. Highly recommend Rita as a host as well as her place!

  • Rita is an excellent host. We had bottles of water waiting on us when we arrived and coffee in the mornings, and I am convinced that the bed is actually a cloud. The sweet, cuddly cat named Boo was an added bonus. It was an overall great experience, and next time I'm in Napa I would definitely like to stay here again if the place is available!

  • This was a great experience. Rita is awesome and recommended us to Bottega and other several great restaurants. The house was located conveniently in a nice neighborhood. The house was 17 minutes to Yountville and less than 10 min to many of the great attractions(Wineries, Hot Air Ballon, Wine Train) in Napa. She provided us with a parking spot for our rental car on driveway for the ouse.

I will without a doubt stay at Rita's every time to visit Napa.

Thank you for the great experience.

  • My husband and I have stayed in Rita's beautiful house for 2 nights. Our original schedule was 3 nights' stay but we had faced a serious problem with our car just one day before departure to Napa so our schedule had shortend to 2 nights due to car repair. Rita understood our situation very well and she rapidly proceeded refund process for 1 night even before our arrival to her place. After we arrived, she introduced a very nice local restaurants and bakery. We really appreciated her advice on our trip. Our memory for Rita is all good thing only.

In addition, her house is very well-decorated and clean. Her house will be a perfect place to refresh after long drive to Napa.

  • Rita was very friendly. Her place is clean, comfortable, and affords a reasonable degree of privacy. This was a good option during a busy and expensive time in Napa and I can recommend this to those looking for central, convenient, and pleasant lodging.
