We have a spare bunk bed available in a shared room, and looking forward to meeting some wonderful, creative people who are passing through the area :)
Our house is nicknamed the Stonehenge, and is located on a comfortable house covered in plants in Palo Alto.
We are located within easy biking distance of almost anything you could want: 1.7 miles to San Antonio Caltrain, 3 miles from Stanford, 2.3 miles from California Avenue Caltrain, 4.5 miles from Hacker Dojo and lots more!
Come join our wonderful community of people who make awesome things! Many of our residents are in their 20's, but we welcome people of all ages into our home. We are not all software engineers, but we share a common curiosity and sense of humor about this funny world, and many of us are highly startup-oriented.
Please spend some time with us, relaxing, drinking a beer, watching movies and playing video games, hacking on some chaos, or teaching us whatever interesting stuff you bring to the table.
We will provide bedding and towels for you during your stay. Feel free to use our washer and dryer, with laundry detergent provided. Please use our kitchen, stocked with all the items needed to cook up a meal. We provide basic food (milk, bread, eggs, random things) for free. There is a communal booze shelf, full of wines, beer and liquor that is available to anyone who pitches into the booze fund :)
See you soon, and until then, best of luck!
I love this place!! I will be staying here whenever I have to come to the area for my quarterly grad school residency. Everyone was really nice and considerate. I had a great time hanging out and chatting with the VERY interesting hostess and other residence. I was only in town for 9 days but I needed a place to stay that was within walking distance from school and had access to a kitchen so I could save money by not having to eat out for every meal, and Stonehenge fit the bill. I was easily able to take one bus to both downtown Palo Alto and Mountain View. There was a great strip mall close by with a very nice grocery store, coffee shop, and restaurants close by. Wonderful experience I highly recommend Stonehenge!!
Katy and Garrett were both great. If you need a place to stay in Palo Alto for a few days/weeks and want to meet some cool people as well, go with the Stonehenge.
I met some awesome people in this house and I'm gonna miss them all! Katy, Garret and the rest of the gang made me feel very welcome as soon as I entered the door. Great start in the US for a confused Swede ;)
If you want to meet real hackers, this is the place for you! Even the dogs can code.
Katy and Garrett were great hosts! I felt safe, welcomed, and everyone staying there was very friendly. I stayed with three others in one room and all were kind and considerate of each other. The location was perfect as it was close to my grad school and to local grocery, restaurants, coffee shops, and beautiful parks...all within walking distance. Very warm community of cool people!
Katy and Garrett were great upfront - in the communications before getting to the place and helping me figure out a logistical issue. The people in the house were friendly and happy.
To use the words of another guest, though, "the place was quite a shock". It's been a while since I've lived in a frat house, so I forgot how messy things can be.
People were happy, and I felt mostly safe, but the general un-cleanliness of things (room, kitchen, bathroom) and lack of lighting was unsettling for me. The bunkbeds are located at the end of a hallway in a room that felt like a bunker.
Hang here for 3 days. Enjoyed a good company of nice people :) Sure stay here again when will be in Valley.
A long, unlit path is the only way to reach the entrance of this compound. Smoke coming out of the low chimney hides the main door behind a dense fog. The door is often unlocked, but a menacing guard dog assures the protection of the house when the armed guard is not around with his noisy jeep.
The lodgers must complete chores to pay for their rent. They are often forced to sleep up to 5 per room and use public showers. Rumors say that past lodgers have disappeared without a trace. Letters arrive in the mail addressed to names that no one admits recognizing.
Nevertheless, everyone I met here was kind and helpful, especially the matron. They all had great stories to tell, tales of zombie hunts, long quarantines and Russian winters. The lack of privacy and crowding of the dorm rooms is easily forgotten when sitting in the comfortable sofas and enjoying the communal atmosphere of the large living room.
Good house, excellent people!
Super friendly community in a great house. It has been a great experience. Its a good place to start out if you're new to the area.
