Welcome! Come stay at our Clean, & Cute - Remodeled 3 Bed / 2 Bath Mod Beach House! Our Beach House is only 2 Blks the Beach, on the Marsh with beautiful views, & w/a Private Dock! We love our quiet beach spot & hope you do as well!
We love our Clean and Quiet Mod Beach Cottage, and hope you do too!
We are located on the Beach side of the Island - only 2 blocks to the beach, and our house has a beautiful view of the Marsh - both from the house and from its Private Dock! We think its the best of both worlds :) The Dock is the perfect place to bird-watch with your morning coffee or a glass of wine after dinner; or use it to fish for flounder or go crabbing. Eat dinner on the back deck for amazing views and see Egrets, Herons, Eagles, Kingfishers, Deer and Pelicans; watch kayaks go by, the sun set, and listen to the sea grass.
We are a very short walk to the Ocean Crest Pier for fishing and its restaurant, The Island Way - a great restaurant with a beautiful view. (BTW - AirBnB's map often shows our location incorrectly - we are really located in the "beach" side of the Island - only 2 blocks to the beach).
Our 3 bed / 2 Bath Beach Cottage has been totally remodeled with Maple hardwood floors, Maple kitchen cabinets, white appliances, Granite, remodeled bathrooms, paint, and furniture. Our beach house is very clean and also quiet. We have a washer & dryer, an outdoor shower.
Our house accommodates 6 people.
We now have linens and towels for you! Cleaning and washing linens and towels is included in the cleaning fee. We will check them out to you when you check-in. (You will need to bring beach towels, beach chairs & other beach items).
For TV entertainment, we have WiFi, Hulu Plus, Netflix & Amazon, so you can stream movies and TV shows.
No Pets or Smoking on the property - we and many of our guests have allergies so no exceptions, I'm afraid.
Required 13% Taxes are included in the total (meaning we will pay them).
We have a fully stocked kitchen with cook-wear, dishes, cutlery, coffee maker, salad-spinner, etc. You are welcome to use our private dock.
We provide linens with the cleaning fee.
**About Oak Island**
We love it here - it is beautiful with marshes, beaches and Live Oaks. Many people are out biking, running and walking on Oak Island (you could easily go for a 30-mile bike ride if you wanted). Other outdoor activities we like are swimming, kayaking, golfing, and boating. You can do most outdoor activities all year here.
We love our quiet street - we have great neighbors and its very peaceful. And its safe enough to ride your bike, run or walk on, and we are only 2 blocks to the beach (we are located on the Beach side of the Island). We are located near the 19th street walkway & the Ocean Crest Pier, a great location for running, biking, fishing or just lounging!
There are always a lot of festivals, markets and events going on in Southport, and you can also take a fun ferry ride to Carolina Beach/Fort Fisher Aquarium, or Bald Head Island. Drive to Wilmington or Myrtle, Holden, or Sunset Beach for the day; or when you are tired you can just lie on the beach or dock all day long. :)
There are Farmer's Markets and great Restaurants on Oak Island & in Southport. We highly recommend the Fish House, Flying Fish Cafe, The Island Way, and the BBQ House. We also frequent Bob's Dogs (a lot more than we should). It is great if you want a great hotdog or hamburger in a very clean place (but with Jimmy Buffet style). You have to try Crazy Cake Chicks and get a Hummingbird Cake cupcake. Yuuum. The flying pig coffeehouse has gluten-free goodies and has a great place to sit outside.
There is a pretty good grocery on the island with some gluten-free and other foods and a good produce section. There is a health-food/vitamin store in Southport and several groceries & pharmacies off the island.
Our house is located between two pedestrian overpasses over the marsh. You can walk on the pedestrian overpass on 29th to the Oak Island Rec center and rent kayaks and canoes there and go for tours. There are other boat/bike/sailing rental and tour companies as well.
Oak Island has a golf course on the island that's open to the public and an awesome Jungle Golf putt putt for folks that are not as competitive (or maybe more competitive!!). If you'd like more recommendations there are more on our Guidebook! :)
We love coming to Oak Island and hope you love coming to our peaceful beach house. It's a great place for a family vacation or a vacation just for two!
There is probably almost no public transport - but if you have a beach cruiser (a beach bike) you can get almost anywhere.
Other Things to Note
You will need to bring any disposables you need like soaps, food, TP, and paper towels. Our month-long rate only applies to off-season and changes each month. (We are sorry, but we do not have a weekly rate any longer - AirBnB apparently has a glitch and keeps reinstating our weekly rate, but its not true... sorry for any confusion!)
***We TRY to book Sat-Sat weekly rentals in the Summer Months (Memorial Day - Labor Day). However - if we have availability a few weeks before the the dates for shorter periods we will try to accommodate you.
No Pets or Smoking inside or out on the property - no exceptions. We and many guests have allergies.
Accommodates 4-5 well, could do 6 (includes kids). No more than 6 people including children please.
Please be considerate of the neighbors - many of them live there full time - plan on seeing them.
No BBQs on the decks or dock.
Please roll trash cans out to the street for Wednesday and Saturday mornings so that it can be picked up.
Have a wonderful, relaxing time!! :)
The cabin is clean and fresh and nicely decorated with IKEA style furnishings. Loved the back deck to the marsh and had fun with my 9 year old finding crabs underneath the dock. Nice restaurant just a block away and short walk to a nice family friendly beach. Very natural laid back setting. We had a fun and relaxing time.
This is a great house in a great location. Everything is clean and bright, the result of a recent remodel. The wooden walkway and dock provide a private perch on a salt marsh - and in fact the entire back of the house is very private. In the other direction, it's a 5 minute walk to the ocean beach.
Jennifer was a helpful host - we followed her suggestions on most things that we did and came away with a really fun mini-spring-break. Bring bikes!
the cottage was beautiful, serene and so close to the beach! the neighbours were very friendly and the dock was a serious highlight!
(just a note- if you're planning on cooking, there are no basic pantry supplies so make sure you bring/buy your own - salt, oil etc.)
Hey Meredith, thank you for being such good guests! You guys are welcome back anytime!
And yes we do not have any of those pantry things. We find that they get really yucky and nobody really wants to use them anyway... And we don't want to have them in the house because of bugs - it's a semi-tropical climate at the beach. We find our house stays much cleaner that way. We throw away disposable things guests leave by the way, so it stays clean here :)
Thank you for staying and being great guests! You are welcome back anytime!
This beach cottage was perfect for enjoying a relaxing weekend near the ocean! We absolutely loved it here and plan on renting again. The location is perfect because it is a short walk to the beach, but yet in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed evenings down at the dock watching the sunset- it was beautiful! The decor is so charming, it's a cozy little house. We had a great time making dinner in the kitchen one night, and we also tried out Bob's Dogs for lunch one day! Thank you for such a wonderful stay- it was exactly what we needed!
We had a great time at Jennifer's home. Only two blocks from the beach and a beautiful view of the marsh. There were four of us and we had a great time cooking in the well stocked kitchen, working puzzles in the natural light of the dining room and exploring the neighboring seaside towns. We highly recommend Jennifer's modern beach house!
We had another great stay at Jennifer's place in Oak Island. Everything is completely in order and we had a delightful weekend. The location is ideal; the marsh-side dock is ideal for morning and evening nature watching as well as star gazing. The beach is two short blocks away. We love it!
Jennifer was a wonderful host! She frequently communicated with us and gave us great suggestions on where to eat around town. The pictures and descriptions of the house were very accurate. I would love to return during the summer when we could take full advantage of the beautiful marsh area and the short walk to the beach.
I grew up in the PNW and my husband is from Europe. We live in NC now and love it. We like to hike, bike, camp, kayak & go to the beach! We try to be very considerate guests and hosts :)
