Welcome!! Come stay at our newly Remodeled, Clean, & Cute, 3 Bed / 2 Bath Mod Beach House! Our Beach House is only 2 Blocks the Beach, on the Marsh with beautiful views, & has a Private Dock! *We are currently booking Summer weeks (Sat-Sat / Sun-Sun) and off-season weekends*.
We love our Clean and Quiet Mod Beach Cottage, and hope you do too!
We are located on the Beach side of the Island - only 2 blocks to the beach, and our house has a beautiful view of the Marsh - both from the house and from its Private Dock! We think its the best of both worlds :) The Dock is the perfect place to bird-watch with your morning coffee or a glass of wine after dinner; or use it to fish for flounder or go crabbing. Eat dinner on the back deck for amazing views and see Egrets, Herons, Eagles, Kingfishers, Deer and Pelicans; watch kayaks go by, the sun set, and listen to the sea grass.
We are a very short walk to the Ocean Crest Pier for fishing and its restaurant, The Island Way - a great restaurant with a beautiful view. (BTW - AirBnB's map often shows our location incorrectly - we are really located in the "beach" side of the Island - only 2 blocks to the beach).
Our 3 bed / 2 Bath Beach Cottage has been totally remodeled with Maple hardwood floors, Maple kitchen cabinets, white appliances, Granite, remodeled bathrooms, paint, and furniture. Our beach house is very clean and also quiet. We have a washer & dryer, an outdoor shower.
Our house accommodates 6 people.
We now have linens and towels for you! Cleaning and washing linens and towels is included in the cleaning fee. We will check them out to you when you check-in. (You will need to bring beach towels, beach chairs & other beach items).
For TV entertainment, we have WiFi, Hulu Plus, Netflix & Amazon, so you can stream movies and TV shows.
No Pets or Smoking on the property - we and many of our guests have allergies so no exceptions, I'm afraid.
Required 13% Taxes are included in the total (meaning we will pay them).
We have a fully stocked kitchen with cook-wear, dishes, cutlery, coffee maker, salad-spinner, etc. You are welcome to use our private dock.
We provide linens with the cleaning fee.
**About Oak Island**
We love it here - it is beautiful with marshes, beaches and Live Oaks. Many people are out biking, running and walking on Oak Island (you could easily go for a 30-mile bike ride if you wanted). Other outdoor activities we like are swimming, kayaking, golfing, and boating. You can do most outdoor activities all year here.
We love our quiet street - we have great neighbors and its very peaceful. And its safe enough to ride your bike, run or walk on, and we are only 2 blocks to the beach (we are located on the Beach side of the Island). We are located near the 19th street walkway & the Ocean Crest Pier, a great location for running, biking, fishing or just lounging!
There are always a lot of festivals, markets and events going on in Southport, and you can also take a fun ferry ride to Carolina Beach/Fort Fisher Aquarium, or Bald Head Island. Drive to Wilmington or Myrtle, Holden, or Sunset Beach for the day; or when you are tired you can just lie on the beach or dock all day long. :)
There are Farmer's Markets and great Restaurants on Oak Island & in Southport. We highly recommend the Fish House, Flying Fish Cafe, The Island Way, and the BBQ House. We also frequent Bob's Dogs (a lot more than we should). It is great if you want a great hotdog or hamburger in a very clean place (but with Jimmy Buffet style). You have to try Crazy Cake Chicks and get a Hummingbird Cake cupcake. Yuuum. The flying pig coffeehouse has gluten-free goodies and has a great place to sit outside.
There is a pretty good grocery (Food Lion - which is better than most Food Lions) on the island with some gluten-free and other foods. It has a pretty good produce section. Off-island there is a Lowe's Foods. There is a health-food/vitamin store in Southport and several pharmacies off the island.
Our house is located between two pedestrian overpasses over the marsh. You can walk on the pedestrian overpass on 29th to the Oak Island Rec center and rent kayaks and canoes there and go for tours. There are other boat/bike/sailing rental and tour companies as well.
Oak Island has a golf course on the island that's open to the public and an awesome Jungle Golf putt putt for folks that are not as competitive (or maybe more competitive!!). If you'd like more recommendations there are more on our Guidebook! :)
We love coming to Oak Island and hope you love coming to our peaceful beach house. It's a great place for a family vacation or a vacation just for two!
Other Things to Note
You will need to bring any disposables you need like soaps, food, TP, and paper towels. Our month-long rate only applies to off-season and changes each month. (We are sorry, but we do not have a weekly rate any longer - AirBnB apparently has a glitch and keeps reinstating our weekly rate, but its not true... sorry for any confusion!)
***We TRY to book Sat-Sat weekly rentals in the Summer Months (Memorial Day - Labor Day). However - if we have availability a few weeks before the the dates for shorter periods we will try to accommodate you.
No Pets or Smoking inside or out on the property - no exceptions. We and many guests have allergies.
Accommodates 4-5 well, could do 6 (includes kids). No more than 6 people including children please.
Please be considerate of the neighbors - many of them live there full time - plan on seeing them.
No BBQs on the decks or dock.
Please roll trash cans out to the street for Wednesday and Saturday mornings so that it can be picked up.
Have a wonderful, relaxing time!! :)
Nice little beach get away in great location if visiting Oak Island. Quiet residential area with easy walk to beach and lovely marsh view right off of the back deck. Two of the three bedrooms are small as is the main living area but if the weather was warm you would never leave the deck!
Jennifer was a wonderful host. Her beach cottage was perfect--roomy, with lots of natural light. The decor was cheery and chic and the kitchen stocked with anything we might have needed during our stay (coffee grinder, wine opener, blender, etc.). We visited Oak Island in January, so we spent a lot of time in the house versus at the beach, but the house is very close to the beach (two blocks) and I would enjoy visiting again when it's warm!
Fantastic house with a well-stocked kitchen. We loved how close it was to the beach! Neighbors were super friendly as well.
The house is super cute and very clean. We went in the off season and it was the perfect getaway. I loved the private dock and then the beach is only 2 streets away. Jennifer gave a lot of good recommendations for restaurants and shops. There's also fully stocked kitchen if you prefer cooking your own food at the house instead of going out to eat. I would definitely stay there again.
We loved Jennifer's cottage. She was very helpful in our communication, answering all my many questions before we arrived. The layout of the house is great, it's open and airy and the decks are an added bonus. The house is as charming as indicated in the pictures and was very clean, well organized and had all the amenities we needed.
I was concerned that we would miss having a house on the beach overlooking the ocean, but we did not! We loved the back deck overlooking the marsh and spent lots of time there enjoying the peace and quiet and the wildlife. It was perfect for breakfast and evening cocktails.
The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors were friendly. The beach is a very short walk away, straight down the street.
I thought this was the perfect beach house for us and hope to return. We've been coming to Oak Island for several years; I whole heartedly recommend Jennifer's cottage for a beach getaway!
Jennifer was very accommodating in answering my questions before we arrived. We and our friends all loved the cottage, which is so attractively decorated and has a delightful location. The beach is nearby, and behind the house is a wooden walkway which leads to a deck overlooking the marsh. We saw egrets and heron there. There is also a deck on the house, facing the marsh, where we had drinks, and another deck at the front of the house with chaises longues. There is an excellent restaurant, Island Way, a short walk away, next to a fishing pier. The pictures and description of the cottage were accurate, and the feel of it was clean, modern, comfortable, and welcoming. The neighborhood is well-kept and attractive. This was our first visit to Oak Island, and we hope to return to it and the cottage again!
We absolutely loved this place! Very quiet and peaceful. The house is bright and open. Has everything you need to stay in and relax, and conveniently located if you want to be out and about! Our favorite place was the private dock on the creek. Great birdwatching in the morning and just beautiful. Jennifer is great with communication and gives lots of info when you book. Can't wait to come back!
I grew up in the PNW and my husband is from Europe. We live in NC now and love it. We like to hike, bike, camp, kayak & go to the beach! We try to be very considerate guests and hosts :)
