Hera, a building dated back to the Venetian period of Crete from the 12th A.C. century, is a small Traditional stone house.
It is located in one of the most famous old roads in old Chania town, Theotokopoulou str. in the number 58. It was named after Dominicus Theotokopoulos, “El Greco”, and is a small road running next to the old Venetian Harbour of Chania which is well preserved and of unique beauty.
Theotokopoulou street is mostly well known for its Venetian and Neoclassical buildings and it is located only 10 minutes walking from all the museums and the commercial center of Chania. It is an attractive street leading down to the harbor where Venetian mansions with strong oriental configurations in addition to Neo-classical buildings are to be found. Wooden balconies and latticed windows embellish the district. This area has been called Tophanas since Turkish occupation when canons and ammunition were stored in the area. It was a prosperous part of the town and had been a residential area for the Christian aristocrats. At the end of the street, just before you reach the harbour you’ll see the temple of San Salvadore. This was formerly a monastery of Franciscan monks and now houses a collection of Byzantine artwork.
The building of Hera is approximately 60 meters from the sea and it has a beautiful private terrace, viewing towards the sea.
The studio is equipped with bath, refrigerator, kitchenette, TV, and air conditioning.
We had a lovely time at Manousos' in Chania. The rooms themselves are a bit small as can be expected in an old town, but very picturesque and with a view from the terrace that is hard to beat. Manousos helped us with helpful information about Chania and also arranged a car rental for our time in other parts of Crete.
Wonderful appartment, best location, very friendly & excellent service. Thx to Manousos and team for this beautiful week in Chania. :-)
I only got to briefly meet Manousos, but he was lovely and very informative about how to find the place, the keys, etc. Place was nice and how I expected it to be, fantastic location and balcony was nice and relaxing. Would stay again!
We had a lovely stay with Manousos at his traditional stone house. We were in Studio 2, I believe, which has a great roof deck and view. The location is perfect - an easy walk to the harbor, various restaurants/shops, and the beach. Manousos was a great host, and we felt very welcomed. He gave us great tips on local eateries/bars, and kindly helped us set up transfers and whatever else we needed. We would definitely visit Chania again and recommend Manousos' rentals to anyone looking for a place with a great location within budget.
Lovely room and great views. Host left us fresh fruit and raki. There was one confusing conversations with the host regarding payment but I believe it was resolved as we did not see him again.
We have stayed 2 nigts in Hera Studio with Manousos's warm hostitality.
Actually we arrvied at late night, but he put the some note for us to find a key easily with a kind greeting message.
The location of the studio is extremely good for touring the city and port, and the view from the terrace is fantastic.
The apartment was lovely, airy and very clean. Also it is perfectly located in the old town of Chania, with its narrow winding streets, very close to the picturesque waterfront and walking distance to the beach. The terrace was lovely and a great spot for breakfast or a drink. Manousos was very friendly and full of useful advice, including a delicious restaurant (Dolomo) which we would never have found otherwise. A lovely few days stay, thank you.

Hi! I am Manousos. I was born in Chania, a romantic city to live. I love the sea and the sun and I live my life in passion. Hera, that I represent, was my father's family house and I am very pleased to preserve the family tradition.
