About This Listing
Hera, a building dated back to the Venetian period of Crete from the 12th A.C. century, is a small Traditional stone house.
It is located in one of the most famous old roads in old Chania town, Theotokopoulou str. in the number 58. It was named after Dominicus Theotokopoulos, “El Greco”, and is a small road running next to the old Venetian Harbour of Chania which is well preserved and of unique beauty.
Theotokopoulou street is mostly well known for its Venetian and Neoclassical buildings and it is located only 10 minutes walking from all the museums and the commercial center of Chania. It is an attractive street leading down to the harbor where Venetian mansions with strong oriental configurations in addition to Neo-classical buildings are to be found. Wooden balconies and latticed windows embellish the district. This area has been called Tophanas since Turkish occupation when canons and ammunition were stored in the area. It was a prosperous part of the town and had been a residential area for the Christian aristocrats. At the end of the street, just before you reach the harbour you’ll see the temple of San Salvadore. This was formerly a monastery of Franciscan monks and now houses a collection of Byzantine artwork.
The building of Hera is approximately 60 meters from the sea and it has a beautiful private terrace, viewing towards the sea.
The studio is equipped with bath, refrigerator, kitchenette, TV, and air conditioning.
Very clean and cosy room in the edge of the old town. Good free parking possibility nearby and the Venetian harbour is 4 minutes by walking away. Manousos is very helpful and takes time to explain you the way to nearest restaurants and highlights. All in all fine.
We arrived late at night in Chania after taking the ferry from Santorini and travelling by bus from Heraklion port. Manouslos was good as his word and left an accurate description of how to get our key. The Studio HERA was very quaint and had a huge balcony overlooking Chania streetscapes and the sea. We were stunned by Chania Old Town. Do not lose the opportunity to visit this place! Chania Old Town is perhaps the most beautiful town we have ever seen. We met Manousos the next morning and he was very charming and helpful. There are lovely quaint restaurants nearby and photo buffs will love to explore all the nooks and crannies of this spectacular location.
We were extremely pleased with this room/loft. It has a nice lodge-like feel. The location is perfect, especially if you are renting a car as it is close to the free public parking. The ocean view from the balcony was very nice. The room was cleaned daily. We were not able to meet up with Manousos since we arrived late and were out exploring first thing in the morning, but he laid out everything to make our check-in seamless and he was available the next morning if we had any questions. If we are lucky enough to make it back to Chania, we will definitely stay here again.
We had a great stay! The apartment is in a great location. You can see the water from the terrace and have really nice little cafés around. There are steep stairs going up to the room and terrace so if you have trouble with stairs, that might cause some problems. Manousos was extremely nice and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again if we come back! Thanks for a great place :)
Thank you Manousos for a lovely stay in your apartment this April. It was wonderful to be so central and in an old Venetian house but in a quiet area while I was there. Fantastic rooftop terrace with views of the sea. You couldn't have been more helpful and I really appreciated all your tips and advice. A perfect place to stay while in Chania.
Central studio in cute area and near water, with terrace, quiet.
Host helped with taxi and local recommendations. Friendly.
More of a guesthouse than a residential property, other guests nearby.
Downsides were barely there wifi and not the best bathroom.

About the Host, Manousos
Hi! I am Manousos. I was born in Chania, a romantic city to live. I love the sea and the sun and I live my life in passion. Hera, that I represent, was my father's family house and I am very pleased to preserve the family tradition.
