Hera, a building dated back to the Venetian period of Crete from the 12th A.C. century, is a small Traditional stone house.
It is located in one of the most famous old roads in old Chania town, Theotokopoulou str. in the number 58. It was named after Dominicus Theotokopoulos, “El Greco”, and is a small road running next to the old Venetian Harbour of Chania which is well preserved and of unique beauty.
Theotokopoulou street is mostly well known for its Venetian and Neoclassical buildings and it is located only 10 minutes walking from all the museums and the commercial center of Chania. It is an attractive street leading down to the harbor where Venetian mansions with strong oriental configurations in addition to Neo-classical buildings are to be found. Wooden balconies and latticed windows embellish the district. This area has been called Tophanas since Turkish occupation when canons and ammunition were stored in the area. It was a prosperous part of the town and had been a residential area for the Christian aristocrats. At the end of the street, just before you reach the harbour you’ll see the temple of San Salvadore. This was formerly a monastery of Franciscan monks and now houses a collection of Byzantine artwork.
The building of Hera is approximately 60 meters from the sea and it has a beautiful private terrace, viewing towards the sea.
The studio is equipped with bath, refrigerator, kitchenette, TV, and air conditioning.
Fantastic experience. The view from the balcony was amazing, Manousos was very helpful and pointed out many fun things to do, and the bed was very comfortable. If you're looking for a place in Chania to lay your head, you can't do too much better then this.
Although we never met in person Manousos is very nice and friendly person. We always had fresh fruit and a bottle of Raki in our apartment. Every evening on our return from a trip the studio was clean again :) We liked the location of the apartment and the restaurants close by. Thank you very much!
It´s been great to stay at manousos apt. Manousos is very nice and welcoming. The apt is charming, in a very old house with a beautiful terrace. Very well situated, a few minutes away from the venician harbour. Definitely the best place to stay in Hania.
The apartment is in the city centre, very close to the sea and the venetian port. The sight is great and the terrace is very beautiful. The apartment is clean and silent, very cozy; you can also cook something in the kitchen. Manousos is friendly and likeable. We really recomend this place
Great location, right next to the venitian harbour - you can see the sea from the balcony - in a charming old street with several restaurants and shops. Both charming and convenient.
The studios are very simple but clean - they are cleaned every day. They have cute balconies on which you can watch the animation of the street. There is not too much noise at night ( and you can always close the windows and put the A/C on if there is).
Finally, Manousos is a very helpful and arranging host! He took care of our bags while we were out and waited for us quite a long time.
I would definitely recommend the studios for a simple but ideally located stay in Hania.
