Interaction with Guests
We see our guests less frequently now that we made the space separate from the rest of the house, (Sometimes they come and go without us ever crossing paths). We miss chatting with interesting people and making new friends as often as we did before but, overall, people seem to be happy with the trade-off of less socializing but more privacy. Our typical guests seem to be in town for an event or with a busy schedule and appreciate being able to come and go without having to explain themselves.
We do still get frequent requests for info on restaurants, hiking trails, etc and we're happy to provide that.
This is not a large property, but it is in a quiet neighborhood that backs up to a large ranch. There are only two streets that lead up the hill to our neighborhood and the few streets up here are dead-end or cul-de-sac. Very little traffic as generally no one comes up here except those who live here.
Amtak Pacific Surfliner stops in Ventura at the Ventura Co.Fairgrounds and buses run regularly up Hwy 33 from Ventura to Ojai. There is a bus-stop on the 2 lane hwy at the base of the drive that leads up the hill to our neighborhood. The Ojai/Ventura bike trail goes right by the base of our neighborhood.
The "house rules" are the usual common-sense considerations: no loud noises/music please; the space is closed-off from, but still connected to, the rest of the house so we'll do our best to use our "inside voices" and ask that you do the same. No smoking inside, of course. Be reasonably neat/clean, observe the check-out time (unless previously arranged), etc.
Our hosts Ken and Candace made every effort to make us feel at home. Our room was cozy and clean and ready for us when we arrived. It turned out that they were both musicians (as I am) and this gave us plenty to talk about. They provided water, coffee, snacks, and fruit for us and they recommended places of interest for us to visit while we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend our hosts.
This couple is just awesome. First of all, they communicated with is constantly and gave us a great list of things to do in the area. The room and bathroom were so clean, homey, and loaded with character. We totally dig the skylight in the bathroom! Everything was immaculate and loaded with goodies- biscotti, snacks, water, coffee, tea- the works. We will definitely be back next time we visit the SB/Ojai area. We had privacy and peace-- totally recommend this wonderful place.
Wonderful experience! The room was beautiful and very clean. Loved the design of the bathroom in particular. Getting in and out was super easy. Would definitely return.
Our stay in Ojai was perfect. The room is nice, clean and cozy. Candace and Ken are very friendly hosts and we had a nice talk with them sitting on their wonderful porch in the evening.
This was our first Airbnb experience and we were very pleased. Ken & Candace were very thoughtful hosts. We were disappointed that we didn't have the opportunity to chat with them as we seemed to have opposite schedules. We certainly appreciated how respectful they were of our privacy, however. The accommodations were better than we expected. The linens/towels were quality and the bed was very comfortable which we very much appreciated. It truly felt like we were staying at a friend's house. When we come back to Ojai, we will stay here again. Thank you K&C!
This was my second visit with Ken and Candace. They always make it warm and welcoming. Nice quiet neighborhood. I especially like the private entrance so that I don't feel I disturb anyone when I come in late. Nice selection of things to drink and nibble on. Thank you for a wonderful home away from home.
Really calm and quite environment! We loved the hike ken told us about and he gave very good directions to get to Ventura beaches!
