All are now separated from the rest of the house via lockable hall doors. Come and go as you please. House is on a quiet dead-end street in Ojai Highlands. Room has comfortable queen-size bed, K-cup coffee maker with choice of coffees or teas, fruit, granola bars, bottled water,mini-fridge and micro-wave for keeping and reheating left-overs. Small flat-screen TV (no premium channels). Full bath has hair-dryer.
Ten minutes (by car-- or 30-40 minutes on scenic bike path) from Ventura Beaches; less than ten minutes (by car--or 20 min on bike path) to downtown Ojai.
Have your morning cup of coffee or tea before you head out to Ventura or Ojai to enjoy one of Southern California's most beautiful and special places. Come for Ojai's world renown Music Festival, Wine Festival, "The Ojai" Tennis Tournament or anytime for golf, hiking, hanging.

Guest Access

Your own separate room, bath, and connecting hallway, coffee/ treat bar, mini-fridge, microwave.

Interaction with Guests

We see our guests less now that we made the space separate from the rest of the house, (Sometimes they come and go without us ever crossing paths). We miss chatting with interesting people and making new friends as often as we did before but, overall, people seem to be happy with the trade-off of less socializing but more privacy. Our typical guests seem to be one or two-nighters in town for an event or with a busy schedule and appreciate being able to come and go without having to explain themselves.
we do still seem to get frequent requests for info on restaurants, hiking trails, etc and we're happy to provide that.

The Neighborhood

This is not a large property, but it is in a quiet neighborhood that backs up to a large ranch. There are only two streets that lead up the hill to our neighborhood and the few streets up here are dead-end or cul-de-sac. Very little traffic as generally no one comes up here except those who live here.

Getting around

Amtak Pacific Surfliner stops in Ventura at the Ventura Co.Fairgrounds and buses run regularly up Hwy 33 from Ventura to Ojai. There is a bus-stop on the 2 lane hwy at the base of the drive that leads up the hill to our neighborhood. The Ojai/Ventura bike trail goes right by the base of our neighborhood.

  • We had a great stay at Ken and Candace's. The room is comfortable and quiet, and they provide lots of thoughtful touches: coffee and tea, bottled water, fruit and chocolates. The location is very convenient to everything in Ojai. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Ken and Candace's place was a great getaway spot! Their house is located in a quiet community, and the room setup is private. We did not meet Candace, but Ken was very knowledgeable about the area, and gave us awesome suggestions for places to eat and explore.

  • Thank you Ken & Candace! This was exactly what I needed: a space to get away and relax, surrounded by nature. I loved that the room had it's own entrance. Airbnb can be a bit of a risk, and it was great to know that I'd have the privacy I would in a hotel, with the charm of a real home. I loved that the space FELT like a hotel (white towels, a perfectly made bed, coffee in the morning, clean and minimal space). I'm coming back next time I'm in Ojai! Thank you!!!

  • We truly enjoyed our short stay at Ken and Candace's place (for the nearby Lavender Festival). Ken accommodated our very last-minute request, and the place was complete with snacks, coffee, fruit, etc. The room and bathroom were clean, cozy, and private from the rest of their home. The neighborhood, perhaps even the entire little town, was quiet and safe. We were surprised to find that so many shops and businesses close by 5pm or 6pm; you'll definitely have a relaxing, small-town feel during your stay here. I would recommend it!

  • Really enjoyed this AirBnB experience! Ken and Candace were out of town during our two-night stay, but they left everything behind we would need and there is a private entrance anyway. They were nice enough to leave out all sorts of snacks/coffee/water, etc. Bathroom had a really nice skylight, everything was really comfortable and Ken/Candace were really accommodating. The house is on a quiet street just a few minutes from downtown Ojai.

  • Great space for a short stay! The room is spacious and beautifully appointed -- even a coffee maker, tea, and fruit were provided! The bathroom was practical and very nice. The property and neighborhood are lovely and a short drive into Ojai. Ken was very responsive. Couldn't have been better!

  • This comfortable bedroom with bath was everything I hoped it would be. The amenities worked for me, including little touches like fresh fruit, chocolate and coffee-maker. Ken was a gracious and helpful host. I enjoyed my 3-day stay a lot.

  • Our stay was great. Even though we haven't met Candace, Ken was very inviting. The tip to go to the Ojai Beverage Company by the way was really great. The room was so clean and nicely furnished. We would definately recommend to stay at Kan and Candace place.
