About this listing
Everyone loves the Avocado Tree House. The little reflection room up in the old avo tree, your own kitchen with organic breakfast fixins and a covered deck facing the sunrise. Located on the same 11 acres as the Mango House.
This cute abode is under and IN an old avocado tree! The main structure offers a hand made four post queen bed and a single bed loft. The Avocado House is perfect for a couple however the loft provides space for a child or friend (however not recommended for a toddler). The little front porch with its wooden shake roof is just right for kickin' back after a day at the coast or a hike across the crater. The upstairs is a magical little cubicle called the “Reflection Room” and is perched up in the tree. It sparkles with jewels, mirrors and stained glass. What a great place to read, meditate, star gaze and watch our magical sunrise!
The Avocado Tree house features an ocean view complete with a full multilevel bath. It has an abundance of solar power, wireless internet, hand painted floors and features a cool collection of funky art. The little kitchen is a separate structure just a few steps away. The kitchen boasts a monkey pod table shaped like the Big Island as well as a covered deck for outdoor dining. The kitchen comes stocked with all condiments and organic breakfast fixins (eggs, whole grain bread, fresh fruit, local honey, coffee and tea) so you can prepare your own breakfast at your convenience. Everyone who stays in the Avocado Tree House loves it!

So close to nature! Everything is amazing; the room, the kitchen, the shower! You take your morning shower outside admiring the views, the avocados and the lizards. The song of coquí frogs at night is soothing. There is plenty of fruit trees around to look at. The turkeys say hello in the morning. Elvira and Hugh are lovely people. I will rush back to this place on my next visit!
Hugh and Elvira's treehouse is magical! I spent five nights at this stunning refuge, and found myself having to tear myself away each morning to explore the east side of the Big Island. Hugh and Elvira were extremely accommodating, communicative, and helpful during my stay, and as a solo female traveler I always felt safe and really enjoyed the quiet privacy of the property. The treehouse is quirky and fun, peaceful and restorative, and a true home away from home. Mahalo nui loa!
An amazing place tucked away just outside of pahoa. It's funky and different but lovable and relaxing. We stayed here two nights but straight away felt that we made the wrong decision - we should have stayed longer!
The hosts are great to deal with and very friendly and informative. The house itself is very clean with everything you need and the outdoor bathroom and shower is a great feature.
The meditation room up the very top is funky and fun and really nice on a clear night when the stars are out.
The fact that the whole place is built aroud a big avocado tree is awesome and not to mention delicious! Elvira and Hugh left breakfast items for us in the fridge and a giant bowl of local grown fruits which we loved.
There are shops up in pahoa and for us, used to bigger distances, even hilo felt close.
We didn't have phone reception but the wifi worked well.
If you're looking for a great place to relax after long days of exploring the big island, look no further, this is it!
We are looking forward to coming back =)
It is amazing. Avocado Tree House is the best Place for holiday in Hawaii. It is beautiful and very very clean. Hugh and Elvira are wonderful hosts. Thank you for all.
The Avacado House was the most awesome place to stay. It truly is built around an avocado tree and the avocado tasted good too. Hugh and Elvie had plenty of fresh fruit from the land for us to try every day along with other breakfast fixings. We loved falling asleep to the frogs and waking up to the birds. This was the most authentic Hawaiian stay ever. Loved the hospitality and special smoothies. This was an experience of a lifetime! Thank you Elvie and Hugh!
Hugh was very kind and caring, and he explained house, farm and near attractions that we needed. Unfortunately we didn't meet Elvira. Avocado tree house is so beautiful, open-air and private in the trees. There is so many wild birds, flowers, fruits. I highly recommend to enjoy this tree house and farm.
