The Space

This spacious studio is on a residential street just off of Clark and Fullerton, half a block from Big Apple Grocery, 7-11, Walgreen's, and public transportation. The Lincoln Park Zoo is basically my front yard, and the beach is about a five minute walk from here. Everything in Chicago is accessible; the loop is less than two miles away. I have a very comfortable queen size bed as well as an air mattress, three people would fit fine for a weekend-two for longer periods. Fully furnished, very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped-feel free to use any of the appliances/food that is here. It will be tidy with clean sheets and towels when you arrive, of course. Just got air conditioning to battle this steamy summer. No TV, but a great sound system and internet for your entertainment needs... (phone number hidden)

Check In
  • The checkin was super smooth and Tyler was very accommodating. He provided us with street parking stickers and even let us use his spot.

The apartment was lovely and a perfect rendezvous point in Chicago. As mentioned in other reviews, the shower pressure was sub optimal, but all things considered - the location, apartment and price - I would 100% vouch for the value of this apartment.

  • We had a great stay at Tyler's studio! The neighborhood was beautiful and a perfect location for our purposes. Tyler's place was great for our party of two. Tyler was very easy and accommodating for our schedule. We would stay there again! Thanks!

  • Tyler is an easy going young man who keeps a very clean studio apt in a attractive (and walk-able!) neighborhood with lots of beautiful homes & trees. Clark street, packed with restaurants and shops, is minutes away. Though not luxurious, Tyler's spare, contemporary design taste gives his space a sense of style, in spite of it being in an older building. It worked out fine for a weekend stay for 1.

  • This was my first try with Airbnb and it was a great experience! Tyler was a wonderful host, his studio apartment was spacious and had a lot of character, and it was located in the perfect neighborhood. Tyler is working hard to make his guests feel at home, and the price can't be beat!

  • Super convenient location, and the studio itself is cute and well-decorated. As other reviews have said, the water pressure in the shower is pretty terrible, and the building outside of the apartment is somewhat run-down. Neither of these were enough to detract in any significant way from my stay. This made for a great base of operations, as well as an inviting space in which to relax during down time. I would happily stay here again.

  • The three of us had a one-night stay in Tyler's place, and it was great. One reason I requested his place was hoping that in our limited time, we could do the most, and it was perfect. East to get to on public transport. Plenty of places to eat, coffee cafe and tea house both nearby, grocery and drug stores very close, the play we came to watch was a 15 minute walk away, and the next morning I managed a two-hour walk-with-stops that included the Conservatory and part of the Zoo in Lincoln Park, as well as a visit to the lake. Amazing location, just steps away from so much. Tyler's place is very comfortable, small sofa and matching easy chair, as well as a table and chairs in the kichen. It seemed a bit quirky on first impression--but it works, it is a very livable space, and spacious by studio standards. The bed was very comfortable, and I didn't hear any complaints about the air mattress (which inflated, deflated quickly with the motorized pump). The bathroom is old, and so the bath/shower is pretty funky, but it worked for the one of us that used it. The apartment was clean, perhaps some of the vertical and shelf surfaces in the kitchen could have been a little cleaner, but the important surfaces were very clean. A couple of the small quirkynesses: a tempting jar of peppercorns, but no pepper mill (so we used the other spice there, curry powder, on our eggs), no small pot for heating water (but there was a microwave, and there was a nice toaster too, an item not included in the three other airbnb places we stayed in previously...).
We were met promptly by a relative of Tyler's to let us in, and Tyler called soon after to answer any questions I had. And he was very accommodating with flexible check in and check out times.I would recommend this place as a great place for those wanting a homey place, like you are staying at a friend's, and getting to have access to the great surrounds. Two in my party had to do a few hours of computer work, and the place was great for that also, quiet, plugs available for computers and devices, internet access, and a functional well-lighted work space at the kitchen table big enough for both. Great place in an amazing location!

  • Staying at Tyler's place in Lincoln park was great. The apartment is no nonsense, but clean and in a super location - one block from the park. Tyler is friendly, polite, and easy to work with. Great first airbnb experience.

  • My partner and I stayed in Tyler’s Lincoln Park studio for a week.

THE PROS: Tyler is courteous and reliable. He responded to emails and texts promptly, helped with directions, and even stocked the fridge with some groceries. The apartment itself was homey and spacious enough for two. Although the building is outdated and a bit drab, it’s safe and quiet, located in a beautiful neighborhood convenient to the park, Lake Michigan, and the Loop.

THE CONS: There aren’t many, but it’s worth noting that the shower has almost zero water pressure, the kitchen is sparse as far as cooking utensils and practical dishware, and some amenities—like a drip coffeemaker or tea kettle, for example—aren’t there. Though new towels are provided, new sheets and blankets are not (the ones he currently has aren’t in fantastic condition).

You can definitely find sexier, more stylish places to crash—and you may even find a better bargain for the price—but Tyler’s place has its charms, foremost of which is its location. And Tyler was nothing but gracious. If you can overlook some pretty minor deficiencies, this place is quite comfortable for a weeklong stay.

  • Tyler is an excellent host. His place was in an ideal location and Tyler himself was super communicative and easy to arrange the trip's details. He even met my wife and I at the airport to give us his apartment's keys. If you're in Chicago, I'd definitely recommend his place.

  • The apartment was sunny and comfortable with everything as advertised. The location was perfect and walks in Lincoln park practically next door was an added treat. Tyler was welcoming and responsive. He even stocked the fridge with breakfast items for us. I highly recommend Tyler and his apartment.
