Menlo Park has an ordinance on overnight parking (prohibited between 2am-5am). You may apply at the city for a permit. Ask me in advance if I have space in the driveway. Transportation is really convenient and we welcome you to park your bicycle in the garage.
Vic's done a great job of not only running a 'great little hostel' but also cultivating a great atmosphere of geekdom and startup attitude in this space. With a 5 minute walk to the Menlo Park CalTrain, the free Stanford shuttle buses, this is a great crashpad to meet interesting people and be in the middle of everything.
This was a great place to stay! Vic and Vinh were terrific hosts, and everyone in the house was super friendly. The house had a great mix of folks, from international visitors to recent stanford grads and even a professor. Almost everyone here had a silicon valley tech interest, and it was a great place to hang out and exchange ideas.
The layout is nice, with 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. There were a lot of bunk beds in my room, but it was no problem to get to sleep as everyone was very respectful. I didn't have any trouble getting into the bathrooms either. I'd highly recommend this place if you are interested in the silicon valley tech scene and want to stay in a place with a lot of other techies.
Great place to stay! near mostly the common places in Palo Alto and the University. They have a lot of bikes to move around (my conveyance durinf that week).
Nice people in the place to hang out!
I highly recommend HackerHome. It was a great place with awesome guests that became new friends. I found a solid sense of community there and Vic and Vihn were outstanding hosts. Check it out for yourself and see.
This is the best place to go if you are checking out Silicon Valley and want to meet people. The people it attracts are super smart and interesting, and Vic is an amazing host that has everything you need. He even left me a private message on my bunk to welcome me to the hacker home
Vic and Vinh are excellent hosts and have created an amazing atmosphere in their homes. The menlo park hacker home is the perfect location, it's a short walk to the menlo park caltrain and university avenue in palo alto. Cool cafes and take outs are only a block away. Cafe Borrone is my go to spot. The house itself is really clean, the beds are comfortable and amenities like washing machine, dryer, dish washer, detergents etc are provided.
The best thing about the home is the people. Other guests during my stay were friendly, down to earth and not snobby despite their high achievements. The guests I stayed with included a physicist working on fusion energy, an artificial intelligence expert, a DNA biologist, someone working on supersonic speed and several startups. Needless to say, the conversations were excellent. Vic and Vinh organised many events that encourage conversations and getting to know more awesome folks. House events I attended in just a week included two dinners, the academy of science museum and a BBQ/pool party.
If you've read this far, just book it! You've found an awesome space. Hope to be back here soon.
I loved staying at Vic's hacker home in Menlo Park. There was no lack of things to do, and all the people were extremely friendly! Vic was efficient and great at coordinating my arrival. A genuinely nice, sociable, and fun guy whose presence made my stay that much more enjoyable. I hope we'll cross paths again, Vic!
I was only supposed to stay in the Hacker Home for a week but ended up staying an entire month, which pretty much sums it all up. Vinh and Vic were great hosts, and the people living there were the same! Wholeheartedly recommend this space!
This has been a great experience for me! Initially I was not sure, but in couple of days, I was certain that this place was a great choice and I would have missed something if I had gone somewhere else. I managed to learn about bay area culture and made some good friends. What more can I ask for!!!
