Behind our family home, in a lush field of green behind a trout pond, is a cozy cottage with its own half bath; fully-equipped kitchen with microwave; living room with fireplace; air-conditioned bedroom with a queen-size bed; and broad veranda with sofa and a Weber grill.
There is a deeded right of way down to the beach on Lake Erie and a world-class Italian restaurant (Peppino's) half a block away.
To get around Fairview's wide open spaces you will need your own car, but Presque Isle, Waldameer Amusement Park, Splash Lagoon, and the City of Erie are just minutes away.
The Erie-area is beautiful and full of fun during the summer.
There are frequent (and free) musical events and festivals, to say nothing of world-class fishing in Walnut Creek, about a five-minute walk north.
There is a large pond just south of the home (and adjacent to the main house, where host's family lives). In the summer evenings, we feed the koi and listen to the bullfrogs as the sun goes down. The fireflies are everywhere. A little Skin So Soft takes care of the mosquitos - and . . . life is good.
Have fun within the bounds of the law. No fireworks. No illegal drugs. This is a quiet, peaceful place. Expect to hear only the sound of crickets and pond critters at night. If you like peace and quiet, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a place to blast heavy metal and shriek while playing air guitar, this ain't it. House-trained dogs are welcome, so long as they play well with other dogs and humans - ask us about this before your book, if you intend to bring a pit bull or Argentine dogo.
We stayed two nights at Cozy Country Cottage and it was delightful! The place looks exactly as described and is very clean. We met the host and his wife. They were very nice and not intrusive at all. The cottage is nestled back in the woods and is very private. Really peaceful at night. You can sit outside and watch the stars. The sounds of nature around you make the experience very relaxing. It is very close to the lake but the road leading to it is not really safe to walk on, so I suggest taking your car. It is also very close to Presque Isle and all of the restaurants and places on Route 5. We would stay there again for sure! Stacy & Jerry Corcoran
Spacious (living, dining, bath, kitchen, bedroom and garage) and attractive private cottage, perfect for two people, for a summer visit to Erie. Kent and his wife were accommodating, helpful, and friendly hosts. When we voiced our concern about the lack of air-conditioning for the cottage, they provided a window unit for our stay (although, in the end, the breezes off the lake negated any need for AC)! The cottage sits on a rear secluded portion of a larger estate, complete with ample yard, fish pond, charcoal grill, picnic tables and wrap around porch to enjoy the outdoors. The property has access rights to a private beach (via foot) which was quite beautiful and provided a relaxing respite from the more crowded and active Presque Isle beaches. The estate and cottage are part of a quiet neighborhood which is only a short drive to downtown Erie, Presque Isle, shopping and other area attractions. During your stay, along with Peppinos recommended by Kent, be sure to check out Teresa's Deli ((website hidden)) for a hearty nearby lunch and an excellent meal at Avantis ((website hidden)) (don’t let the unassuming storefront and interior steer you away). There is no TV or wifi in the cottage (however, cellular service is available) which is fine. The bed was very comfortable. The cottage was a great place to stay and we are looking forward to our next visit to the Cottage and Erie!
Although close to pretty much everything the Erie Metropolitan area has to offer, the cottage sits on a private, peaceful, idyllic landscape. The interior is comfortable, clean, and spacious (the hosts even appointed it with fresh flowers). We got more than we expected; great value for the money. We enjoyed our stay and will lodge there again when we need a place in the Erie area. We recommend it highly.

I recently moved my (home) office and my wife Elisa and I moved our family (five kids, two dogs) to Elisa's home town in rural Pennsylvania.
But I kept my office in downtown Chicago, where my colleagues work full time.
I now commute to Chicago, staying in Chicago for a full work week every other week, or more often, as needed.
Our home has a big pond in the back, full of fish and frogs. We love to feed them in the evening.
