Our stay at Charlotte's Riad was very positive. She was very responsive throughout the booking process. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the place is unique, charming, and a good value. Youseff was very helpful in orienting us the first day. I very much enjoyed the traditional breakfasts and interacting with the other guests. A few things to note: there are very well decorated and traditional en-suite bathrooms, but there aren't doors between the bathrooms and the bedrooms, so if this makes you squeamish take note. And I think this is mentioned in the listing, but there is only air conditioning in the upstairs rooms. It gets quite cool at night, so it's not uncomfortable for sleeping, but if you plan to nap in the afternoons when the weather will be warm, etc., you may want to request an upstairs room. Overall, beautiful place, easy walk to the main square, very positive experience with Charlotte!

What can I say.... I felt like I was a local!! Staying in Charlottes place was as authentic as you can get!! Its literally 2 min walk from Jemaa El Fina square. The facilities were super clean, bathroom and shower were stocked and had plenty water pressure & hot water. The hosts that were there were very friendly and wiling to offer any assistance when needed with directions and/or recommendations. I would without a doubt stay here again on my next trip to Marrakech.. Thanks Charlotte for a great experience!! Mike

We had an amazing experience in this riad, hosted by Youssef, Aisha and other people from the staff, who were always smiling and happy to help. They truly made us feel at home. It's close to the Place Jemma el Fna, the heart of Marrakesh's medina, and near a busy street. However, the 2-3 alleys one has to walk from that street to the riad feel quite lonely and it's hard to get used to that feeling. However, after 7 nights we had no problem. Wifi was down, but Youssef bought a sim card with internet for us, at his expense. Breakfast was good (traditional Moroccan bread/crepe with jams and butter, along with tea or coffee). Their terrace is quite nice, the room (the blue one) quite spacious and clean. Do check out nearby restaurant Naranj!

Riad Al Faras was perfectly located from Jamaa El Fna. Yes Marrakech is a maze but if you have some sense about you then this Riad is super easy to find. Felt safe day and night. Breakky was pancakes and bread with mint tea coffee and juice - enough to start the day on. We had 2 rooms on top level, very comfy beds with heating. Lovely bathroom with good shower pressure. Yousseff was such a wonderful help. He has worked with the lady who cooks breakky for 12 years which is sweet! He walked us to a laundromat and Internet cafe and went above and beyond, always smiley!! Would recommend this riad to anyone wanting close proximity to medina. Can't fault it and its a bargain!! Tip: take the 200 dirham or 20 euro airport pick up. You will never find riad on ur own.

I booked our first night in Marrakesh at this riad as it looked the best on Airbnb. I have stayed before in 2 different riads with Airbnb and they were both such a nice experience, beautifully decorated and lovely but this one was simply a big disappointment. Charlotte was quite rude by email. Not only it took her long time to respond which made me feel so insecure that i was about to cancel the booking, she didn't pay attention to anything that i said except in relation to the money. She asked for 10 euros on top of the already expensive £34 for a room on the first floor instead of the ground floor where there is no privacy...although the riad was empty and she could offer any room simply for customer service but i doubt she knows what this word means. This experience will probably make me avoid Arbnb for booking places to sleep in the future. I am not a fussy customer and i've slept in so many far from perfect places before but when you have certain expectations, the disappointment is huge when the room on the picture is so much different from the real one- small, cold and dirty ! No character, no interesting features and just freezing ! The welcome was far from warm also - no mint tea offered as it is in the Berber villages where the poor people have so little but give so much... We were given an overprised menu when my partner went to ask for coffee although I asked Charlotte if we can have the breakfast during the day as we were leaving quite early the next morning but she wouldn't care less. The host Youssuf was really nice and smiling and served the breakfast on this day but only because we asked not because this simple request was communicated. For the price that we paid we could have at least a clean and warm place ,which is normal as we discovered on our last night when we paid exactly the same amount through a different website for a beautifully decorated room on the first floor with air con! in a riad with hammam 5 min from the main square! The location was not ideal as well-walking through the complicated maze of narrow streets is not the most pleasant experience during the night and certainly not after a glass of (URL HIDDEN) option to take a taxi so you must rely on your memory (in my case obviously not very good) and the directions- left, right, left, right... The only place which i liked was the roof terrace because of the sun and the beautiful flowers... too bad i couldn't enjoy it either because the banging with hammers and shouting from the neighbour's was just too loud to hear the birds and to enjoy a peaceful afternoon.... No wonder they had no other customers in the whole riad...

Response from Charlotte:
I'm sorry but I have to reply to these comments which are completely wrong ! Firstly about communication, from the begining and the first mail, this person communication style was led to predict that her objective was only to lower and lower the price of the only night she booked, by using argument on argument. All inappropriate. She has the same style in this comment above and she is bad faith. For example, she said the Riad was empty .She probably didn't pay attention to the 8 other guests we welcomed at the same day , during her stay . Tea mint is always prepared at our guesthouse and offer to all our customers (see the other comments on the website). We never "overprice" (as she comments ) the menu. All our prices are printed and transparent . I'm also shocked to read in her private comment that "the staff is laughing all day", ... Sorry but I prefer to have a happy team ! Money is not everything !

We had been travelling for a month and had many brilliant experiences staying in riads. Unfortunately this will be the first poor experience we had. It was lucky we had been in Marrakech a few days previous else we would have been completely stuck. We sent several messages requesting directions but was told to telephone the house keeper. The house keeper didn't respond. Eventually we manages to find the place- it is called something different on the door, as a local boy helped us. When we arrived the guy- eventually appeared and ignored us. Eventually he gave keys and then went again. Unlike other hosts, he didn't show us around or give any information on the local area. Other hosts have been fantastic and spent time showing maps, recommendations of where to eat etc. The room smelt, was damp, very old sheets and a small hand towel. In the night we woke to find the bathrooms covered in beetles. The breakfast was bread. We have stated in 29 different riads over the month and most riads provide beautiful homemade yoghurt or fruit- extremely cheap and plentiful in morocco.

I want to answer to your comments as this has been the first time since more than 10 years, that we receive such feedback. The name of the Riad doesn't appear on airbnb website, as they hide the address until the guest's confirmation. As soon as I received your booking, I sent you back a message with : the exact name,(the same on the door!), the address & all the phone numbers. I was connected in live to send you directions if necessary .I was told by you that you find the Riad by yourself ! Otherwise I would send you a map, as I have NO interest to lose my guests! The reason the housekeeper didn’t answer to your call , was because he was on his motorcycle and didn’t hear ! Regarding the team and specially the housekeeper, they have been there for years & years, they are very professional and I’m proud because they regularly win “staff” awards from international companies. I still trust them ! The breakfast is home-made by Aicha each day, with fresh coffee or tea, bread cooked by herself, home-made marmelade, fresh fruits and fresh orange juice. And additional items on request.

I live most of the time in Lyon in France. I am a big fan of the "old Lyon" neighborhood.
I love traveling, specially in Marrakech in the nice and relaxing Riad of my family. Our staff is amazing and welcome our guests very carefully when we are away.
Always happy to provide visitors with recommendations and advice ;)
