Ranch Getaway on the Central Coast

House - Entire home/apt · Christine Loomis Drive, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420, United States

Enjoy the peacefulness of the country without traffic noise, bright lights, or neighbors in sight. A short drive (10 miles) to Arroyo Grande and SLO for shopping, wine tasting, and antiquing. Relaxing pool available.

The Space

Our spacious pool house sits in the beautiful countryside of Arroyo Grande, not far from historic downtown (10 miles) and just a bit farther San Luis Obispo (15 miles). Beaches are close by with Pismo being 13 miles and Avila a little further up the 101. We don't have traffic like the cities do, so all are an easy drive. Access to the house is by way of a dusty, partly-paved road that branches off the main county (Huasna) road. The pool house has two air beds and two extra long twins.

Girls' retreats or fun weekends! Family vacation! Romantic getaways! A simple, no-hassle, peaceful escape from work. :)

Pets are OK if they are well behaved. I have two dogs and two cats that stay on the property and mostly keep to themselves.

Smoking is not okay inside the Pool House, but guests can smoke outside.

Guest Access

Salt water swimming pool (which is solar heated, so if the sun isn't out, it might not be warm. In Winter the solar goes off (from Nov. to April) but you have the spa, pool towels, basketball hoop, fitness room and fitness equipment, BBQ, fire pit and free firewood, wireless internet, DirectTV, a fireplace heater (not real wood burning) DVD/Blu-Ray player, flat screen television, small refrigerator (I have a large one w/ freezer in the garage for your use if needed), coffee maker, toaster oven, hairdryer, shampoo/conditioner, soap, and other basic toiletries. Coffee, tea, mugs, utensils, and dinnerware will also be provided.

Plus, I have quite a collection of movies available for all ages. I'd be happy to share!

Plus, I am certified in most fitness techniques, so if you want a fun Zumba or aqua aerobics class or a hike, I'll be happily to accommodate. I'll gladly show you some excellent hiking areas too. great hiking in all the county. You are welcome to go to my garden and pick veggies if they are there, also my fruit trees.

Interaction with Guests

I'll be present at the main house during the guest's stay, just in case you have any questions. If you want to head into town, I can help with pointing out local attractions. If you need me to point out some great hiking areas, I can help with that too. Just tell me what you want or need and I will try to accommodate.

The Neighborhood

The neighbors are friends and family. It is a family ranch. I can give you information on where to eat in town and shop (not that I am much on shopping).

Getting around

There are buses in Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo, but driving the county roads are easy. Watch out for deer...we see them every day.

Other Things to Note

The Central Coast has so much to offer. The hills, beaches, vineyards, good restaurants, and hiking. My uncle has the most amazing forest of redwoods too (I think the biggest privately-owned forest!). You can walk there too!

  • Kate is fantastic. The house is beautiful. The amenities are just wonderful. We had an incredible weekend here with our dog. A couple of things worth mentioning:
    1. Make sure you understand where it' located. It's very convenient to SLO, Arroyo Grande and Pismo Beach and a bit far from Paso Robles (even though it comes up in Paso Robles search on AirBnB)
    2. The bed is an air bed. We were completely OK with it - but possibly not for everyone.
    Overall just a spectacular experience.

  • Finding comfortable accommodations for our clan (2 adults, a dog, and an energetic toddler) isn't always the easiest thing. We came here for a little getaway over Thanksgiving weekend and it couldn't have been more perfect. Our dog had so much fun running around the property and playing with Kate's dogs. And our little one had plenty of space to explore and burn off energy.

We enjoyed our stay here very much and would highly recommend it to anyone! It's just the right mix of spacious, comfortable, quiet, and peaceful.

  • This is an extraordinary place and I feel so fortunate that Kate shared it with us. The space was larger, more luxurious and more beautiful than I expected. The setting is breath-taking. We arrived after dark and were thrilled and astonished to wake up and see how beautiful it was.
Kate went out of her way to make our visit as easy and comfortable as could be. She is a person I would be happy to meet and spend time with in any circumstances, and as a host she was exceptionally gracious and helpful.
I was there with my 2 adult children and it was plenty spacious enough for us. My dog enjoyed her stay as well, especially as there is a huge fenced area with plenty to explore, and Kate's lovely old dog Amber was quite welcoming.
This was a great spot from which we could explore the Central Coast, and it was also lovely just hanging out in the sunshine, by the pool, with the incredible mountain views. While it doesn't have a full kitchen, it was well stocked with blender, toaster, coffee maker, glasses, mugs, plates, etc. and perfect for everything we needed. At night, we enjoyed picking from the huge stash of DVDs and the big screen TV. We all wished that we could have stayed longer.

This is a very special place, and I will absolutely be visiting again!

  • I frankly felt it was rip off for my experience here. I felt this place was way different as compared to how it was advertised. I have booked many other villas on airbnb and have always had a better experience. I was very disappointed with the place and the amenities available.

The place was not well heated and the beds were way too uncomfortable(oh wait the were air beds!!). The kitchen was way too small as good as nothing.

We were informed by the owner that the water in the pool was cold but Indian can use it (and it was ice cold!! so I felt advertising this place to have a pool in this season was misleading). The owner said we could have borne fire and use the grill however both the grills at our disposal was unusable/inoperatable. We had to figure our way out and ended using the owners outdoor grill. She was not very helpful on guiding us with the amenities actually. The outdoor was badly light and we decided to use the candles outside in the cold for grilling (for which we got commented at later).

We even paid for the cleaning and got commented at leaving the place dirty(when my friends and I cleaned up the place and put stuff in the dustbin). We were even asked to leave early(but i would give this to them as the owner informed us before time)

Overall I would say that place was over priced for the amenities, comfort etc and the owner was not very helpful and unreachable when we needed help. summing things up i would say I don't mind paying 30% of what I paid for this place

  • My girlfriends and I chose this spot as a halfway point from San Francisco and Los Angeles. Kate was gracious when we arrived, even making us cinnamon rolls. The pool house comfortably fit all four of us. Kate has a wide selection of movies and the pool house has a great surround sound system. But the most magical part is the pool and hot tub. When we arrived, the pool was cool, but we decided to hop in anyway and it was well worth it. From the infinity pool view, you can a vast array of stars.

There is not much in Arroyo Grande to do so we traveled to nearby San Luis Obispo to grab lunch. It's a cute town and definitely worth a visit.

Overall, we were very happy with the accommodations. We were even discussing going back when the weather is warmer so we could enjoy the pool again.

  • What a beautiful spot and wonderful host! Kate was so accommodating, she even gave us a Zumba lesson and led me me on an evening hike.
The pool house has everything we needed for a wonderful girl's weekend - from a huge movie library to choose from to cute plastic margharitta glasses to use poolside for our water.
The beds are very comfortable and the quiet and beauty of the place was very restorative.
    We enjoyed moonlit hot tubbings!

    Thank you again, Kate!

  • Fantastic little place in the mountains. Kate was extremely helpful going as far as meeting us in Arroyo Grande and led us to the pool house. We arrived after dark and swimming in a pool with just stars above your head is a mind-blowing experience. The scenery is fantastic and there was always some sort of wildlife about, from humming birds to turkey vultures and everything in between, even their husky that enjoyed swimming! If ever we get a chance to come out again we will try to stay here.

  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at Kate's ranch in AG. Kids loved the pool and hot tub and we all enjoyed the peaceful serenity of being surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and nature. Accommodations were great and Kate and Dan were perfect hosts. They were very helpful with ideas on local attractions, beaches and wineries to visit. The ranch is in the country, about 15 min drive outside of AG - worth the effort. Already planning our next visit.

  • We had an amazing stay in Kate's guest house. Went with 3 girlfriends and had a blast lounging by the pool and taking advantage of the beautiful surroundings. It is off the beaten path, so be ready to drive a bit to nearby wineries, restaurants, SLO etc. But it was peaceful and relaxing and Kate was a fantastic host!
