Our room with private bathroom has a HUGE very comfortable bed. The bed measures 180/200cm with a sprung mattress and memory foam topper new as of Jan 2014. The bath has a freestanding roll top bath and the bubble bath required to go with it!
We have a three bedroom house just a short walk from Kennington tube station where you get access to both branches of the northern line. Providing excellent transport links to Waterloo, Kings Cross and the International Rail station St Pancras. There are also bus's that go just about anywhere in London from the Walworth road (three minute walk). If you are here to see Parliament and The London Eye you can walk there and stop for a bite on the Southbank. There are three rooms available this room is a double on the first floor with dresser and coat hangers for hanging clothes.
Lovely garden and patio area. The house is back from any roads so there is no traffic noise :) If you require meals this can be arranged, there will be breakfast cereal, bread for toast, jams, eggs etc available in the morning. Feel free to help yourself to teas and coffee.
There is an en-suite bathroom in this room.
There is an A-Z in the room to help you find your way about. We are happy to show you the local pub which has an excellent wine list and great menu all at a good price.
Also Parking can be arranged for an additional £10 a day notice required.
We love to meet new people and socialize however sometimes we can be busy with our work and study. We do like to travel ourselves and may on occasion be out of town but always contactable, with friends nearby if required. When we are around we do pride ourselves on our friendly Scottish hospitality and do strive to make your stay feel as close to home as possible.
Kathryn and Ben
This is your home while travelling and you should treat it as such :)
You will have full access to the kitchen and livingroom while you visit. Bens room is off the livingroom so we tend to move to the kitchen to keep talking after 10pm on weeknights.
Interaction with Guests
If i am in town i am always up for a chat etc however sometimes i have a paper due and can be busy. I work full time as a firefighter and i am studying part time for my masters so sometimes its hectic but most of the time i like a good chat. I would like to say though that it is not a hotel and its our home so the experience is very different to that of a hotel. I will try and help you in any way i can but i dont make a very good concierge. There are lots of leaflets and ideas for things to do in London on the table in the kitchen.
There is a street market and lots of great local pubs that do fabulous food.
This is perhaps the best neighbourhood in London for accessing the rest of London. There are good transport links for all of London including tube and buses.
There is no smoking in the house but we have a lovely area outside in the garden with table and chairs where that we ask you to smoke instead.
Other than that we are very easy going and ask only that you clean up after yourself if you use the kitchen, we have a dishwasher to make that easier :)
The room was pretty, clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable and the bathtube is very special. :)
Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Kathryn but Ben was really friendly. The room is close to the northern line, so it was easy to get to central london.
Thank you very much! :)
As part of my work in UCL I spend a few weeks in London every few months. For the last two visits in London I stayed in Kathryn's apartment. I used the room with the private bath which is great. It is spacious, nicely decorated and very well maintained.
Kathryn is great - very responsive to messages and always helpful.
As someone who travels a lot, it's always nice to find an apartment where you can feel at home, and I'll definitely try to book the room for future visits in London as well.
It was a lovely Place to stay! The room was nice and tidy. I didn't get to meet Kathryn but Ben was really friendly! Thank you very much for everything. C U next time :)
quartier très facile avec des bus qui vous déposent en 20 minutes dans le centre, chambre agréable avec petit déjeuner, adresse à recommander !!
Everything was fine except the start. Although we arranged an exact arrival time the key was not there and we needed to wait for 2 hours. Another couple that was arriving one day before had the same experience. The flat was perfect!
A conseiller!
The location was splendid. A five minute walk from Kennington Tube Station and from there only minutes to the heart of London. The room was excellent. Extremely clean and tastefully appointed. The bed is enormous and very comfortable. There is a large wall mounted TV perfectly located at the foot of the bed. The heating worked flawlessly and the window can be opened. The bathroom is modern and we found it meticulously clean. There is also a large well equipped shared kitchen/dinning room downstairs. We made little use of this as we ate out most days, but it has everything one might need.
Kathryn was a model host. Although she was away at the time of my stay, Kathryn made us feel very welcome and provided all the information we needed via friendly and timely instant messages. Part way through our stay she even got in touch to ask if all was well and if she could help us in any way.
A superb experience.
