TRIPADVISOR reviews are amazing about us, check them out!. We have 7 rooms in total: •REEF BREAK ROOM •POINT BREAK ROOM, •SEAWEED ROOM •OCEAN VIEW ROOM •FAMILY SURF ROOM •GARDEN VIEW ROOM •GREEN ROOM. We have a communal beautiful kitchen set in the teakwood garden, library and hammocks to read your favourite books. Please check all the ROOMS out on air bnb.

•Our bungalows are inspired by traditional Indonesian architecture, using local building materials and Batu Karas' builders; the roof is made from alang-alang aka palm leaves sourced from the Green Canyon river, and woven into roofing by villagers from Cijulang. The alang-alang roofing is a favoured method of roof construction in West Java. The timber is sustainably grown and milled from a nearby, certified plantation, and the bamboo used througout the bungalows, is locally grown, and of course, one of the most sustainable building materials available.

Other things to note

•SEAFOOD BBQ NIGHT •For a taste of local culture try Villa Monyet's famous barbeque night. The way we eat is unique; nasi liwet or rice cooked in a traditional wok with special spices, is served up with the freshest, most succulent local barbequed fish, crabs and prawns on huge banana leaves at one long, single table •Everyone eats together, without spoons or forks, only hands, often fighting over the best part of the fish, or the last bit of sambal, just as monkeys do. That's why our place is called Villa Monyet. Enjoy the delicious food while watching the Batu Karas' youth playing gamelan or Sundanese music and you can practise to play the instruments with them.

Wonderful place with wonderful people. Feel free to enjoy Villa Monyets slowlife and get a break from your daily routine with Nana and his friends and family. You will feel family soon. The beach is very close and you would love to go surfin early in the morning or late in the afternoon in a crowdy but family beach. You could eat there or back at Villa Monyet... feel free to act as a stranger or as a brother, no one will judge....

We had a wonderful stay at Nana's place. It is great basic accommodation that brings you close to nature. The staff were very helpful and they organised lots for us, including helping us with the rest of our trip. Motorbike rental was easy and useful as you can easily travel to the main beach. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of water. There was always someone around to help which made the stay relaxing and stress free. I definitely recommend this place for the traveller who doesn't want luxury, but wants to meet new people and embrace the culture.

Our stay at Villa Monyet was definitely one of the best experiences we've had. Everyone in Villa Monyet was so warm and welcoming and we're so happy to have made new friends there!

Pros: Warm welcome, tasty monkey feast, free use of bicycles, nice location next to reef break. Cons: Reef break bungalow is not the one as advertised as the main picture, bedroom and bathroom are plagued with mosquitos 24/7 so we left early, no sea view but a view of some overgrown hedge and trees, aircon is faulty, overpriced for what you get. Verdict: Although the staff are welcoming and happy, the reef break bungalow was really disappointing. We left early due to mosquitos, the bungalow not being as advertised and the poor facilities. We did get a full refund from Nana with no hassle too. We have stayed in Batu Karas twice before and will be back, but we won't be staying at Villa Monyet if nothing changes.

Beautiful small resort. This was a bit of a splurge for us, but we were ready for some hot showers and cold AC, so Villa Monyet provided that for us and then some. Breakfasts were fantastic, you have the option of about 5 or 6 items (sweet and savory), and hot tea and coffee are available all day. The staff is very helpful in arranging for activities or transportation. We cooked dinner one night in the community kitchen which was a lot of fun- we picked up some beautiful fresh shrimp at the fish market located just a few minutes away, and rode the bicycles they provide to a small market for some fresh vegetables. Lastly- I accidentally forgot a pair of earrings in the room, but they were very kind to offer to ship them all the way back to the States for me. Overall really lovely experience and would love to return to Batu Karas and Villa Monyet one day!
