The bedroom has a four poster bed with a very comfortable mattress and quality bed linens. The lodge has its own garden full of tropical plants and Banana palms. Easy access through to the swimming pool situated within tropical gardens and native gum tree's. The Gardens attract wildlife so sit back and watch the Parrots, Sunbirds, Butterflies and Cockatoo's fly by or go in search of our resident Green Tree Frogs!

  • Great hosts and great location. Such a beautiful apartment and such good value. We'd love to come back, thank you.

  • This place is even more lovely in real life than in the photos, and was exactly what we had hoped for, and more, when we booked. Really lovely surrounds, and fantastic location. Also really great to have a little kitchen to use, and some fun DVD's! Simon met us when we first arrived, and was also super lovely and helpful. I can't recommend this place highly enough to anyone who is looking for lovely place to stay in far North Queensland. Thanks so much Simon and family for helping to make our trip really memorable!

  • We had the best time in Simon's wonderful Lodge. He and John made us very welcome and comfortable and we wanted for nothing. The Lodge has a great relaxing ambience with lovely open living space a great deck out the back looking out to a pretty garden. Comfy bed and a lovely modern bathroom. We will definitely be back!

  • Simon and John are great hosts. The lodge was great and nothing too much trouble. Felt like I was in Bali. Would definitely recommend their little piece of paradise.

  • Simon and John are wonderful hosts. Happy and relaxed and ready to help in any way. This accommodation was great for us, as we really wanted to be able to cook our own food rather than eating out for every meal. We bought up big at Rusty's market in Cairns, stopped at the seafood market on the highway back, and enjoyed cooking with all the wonderful local fresh food, and eating alfresco on the deck with the birds, bats and butterflies.
ON a rainy day we saw a film in cairns, visited Hartleys and the Cairns Zoo on other days, and explored Trinity Beach for restaurants - quite different to the glossy Palm Cove. There's a GREAT Thai massage place in Palm Cove, near the supermarket - we left the pamphlet in the lodge for future guests.
Thanks Simon and John for being great hosts!

  • Great space and the hosts were lovely. Nice to have bikes on hand to use to cycle round the area. All the amenities of home!

  • We stayed at the Lodge for just over a week in March 2013 and have nothing but positive things to say about it!

The Lodge itself is clean, well-equipped, and beautifully decorated - even better than the photos suggest. It has everything you could need - from a gorgeous 4-poster bed, to mosquito coils, from fresh coffee in the kitchen, to two bicycles for exploring the area. The Lodge is peaceful and overlooks a delightful private garden full of plants, birds, and the soothing noises of the tropics (frogs!).

Simon and John are fabulous hosts, greeting you on arrival, leaving complimentary little treats for you in the fruit bowl, and giving you privacy while also being on hand for any questions. It truly feels like staying with old friends.

Clifton Beach is a quiet area and we were thrilled to stay somewhere with easy access to the restaurants at nearby Palm Cove without staying in the busy tourist strip. We had a hire car, but the highlight of the trip was walking home along the beach from Palm Cove to Clifton Beach by moonlight - a lovely 40min walk. There is good swimming nearby (and all up and down the coast) and a trip to Rusty's markets in Cairns on a weekend is well worth it.

Overall, completely positive experience and hope to return!

  • We had a very nice stay @ Simon's "Lodge". Was exactly as advertised and a perfect place for two. Easy to find and located in a very quite neighbourhood. No issues with the "Lodge" at all and would definitely stay again should we venture back into Clifton Beach.

  • My husband and I stayed at Simon and his partners lodge for the last leg of our trip. It is an amazing apartment. It is about a 30 min drive from Cairns so I would recommend renting a car. Their place was easy to find and was in a nice quiet neighbourhood. The place was beautifully decorated in asian style decor. It was very comfortable and serene. Our hosts were very helpful and pleasant and they even left some lychees and a mango in our fridge. I would recommend their place 100 %.

  • We were highly impressed with Simon's guest house! It has everything Simon promises and more. He even stocked the refrigerator with fresh mangoes on our arrival! The location is fantastic if you're looking to explore Cairns or North Queensland. Clifton Beach itself is a lovely and peaceful area! Even though there are houses around, it felt very private and as if we were in the middle of the rainforest (a true Queensland experience!). Simon accommodated our early morning arrival and was very friendly. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
