Located in Coal Creek Canyon in the majestic Rockies of Colorado at 7,604 ft. Enjoy our charming mountain home that offers creativity, relaxation and romance. The cabin is close to Boulder County trails, Eldorado State Park, Gross Dam Reservoir and Walker Ranch. Guests enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, climbing, skiing and most of all relaxing. An ideal location if you are interested in a fairly remote Colorado mountain cabin experience.

The space
* Please read the full description of this this unique home and property in order to fully understand this vacation experience.

** COVID Health and Safety: We use a HEPA air purifier between guests for air purification. The comforter is changed between guests and of course, all linens. We use cleaning and sanitizing products in the home as well.

The Home:
Built in 1973 on 1.6 acres in beautiful Coal Creek Canyon, our eastern influenced home offers a romantic and peaceful mountain retreat 40 minutes from the city of Boulder, 45 minutes from Denver and 30 minutes from the quaint mountain town of Nederland. The cabin is ideal for anniversaries & honeymooners, hikers, mountain bikers, rock-climbers (world-class climbing in Eldorado Canyon & Boulder), writers, musicians, artists, or anyone looking for a few days of isolation in the mountains.

The eastern-facing, uniquely crafted wooden deck overlooks the stunning Eldorado Canyon ridgeline, Walker Ranch State Park, not to mention the breathtaking sunrises and the twinkling city lights at night.

As you enter this rustic paradise, you are instantly welcomed by the indoor soaking tub (no strong jets but warm and ready upon arrival) in the cedar spa room & a large, open-kitchen, equipped with a vintage style refrigerator and stove. Once in the main living area, your eyes are immediately drawn to the narrow spiral staircase leading to the loft bedroom on the second floor (note: this may not be ideal for children, elderly, or handicapped). The bathroom is located on the main floor.

The open fireplace is available for your use. Please bring your own firewood and kindling if you would like to use the fireplace.

Amenities for cooking include: pots and pans, cutlery, variety of glassware ( wine and beer glasses and champagne flutes), mugs, microwave, small toaster oven ( for toast and bagels), coffee maker, coffee grinder, coffee filters, large Big Chill fridge with freezer, electric kettle for hot water, outdoor propane grill with propane provided, tea/coffee, salt/pepper, a growing assortment of spices, sugar and usually coffee.

The bathroom was completely remodeled in March of 2019. It is features a custom designed tile mosaic, zero entry shower with a rain shower. The vanity boasts a marble top. The bathroom was designed and built by co-owner, Karl Manteuffel.

There is a vintage style record player with an array of records to choose from and wireless internet ( no TV or DVD player). The wireless internet works well for checking email and searching the internet.I have been told it does not have enough bandwidth if you are interested in working from the home.

The loft has a medium firm queen Satvaa brand mattress (new as of 6/1/20). There is baseboard electric heating in the loft and a small deck to the front of the home.

Typically, evenings in the summer in Colorado mountains are cool & peaceful, so feel free to open the patio door to cool down the home. During the warmer summer there is a portable evaporative (swamp) cooler, two large tower fans and a smaller fan and ceiling fan in the kitchen. There is no a/c in this home at this time, but we will have one for the summer 2021 as Colorado summers are heating up.

During the cooler months of September through May, the entire home has radiant-heated adobe floors. The loft has baseboard electric heat for colder winter nights. There are also 2 large oil filled electric portable heaters and 1 small electric heater for your use for those extra cold evenings in the winter.

The cabin can sleep 4 people when the pullout sofa couch is used ( the brown sofa in photos). It has a queen sized memory foam sleeper mattress. We charge a guest fee of $20 for each additional guest over 2 because of extra laundry and cleaning.

Smoking:
There is absolutely no smoking of cigarettes or cannabis products in the home. You may smoke in the front of the home but not on the back deck.

Special Packages:
If you are interested in honeymoon, birthday, anniversary or any special occasion packages, please let me know. My housekeeper, Joanna, has been working with guests to set up the home for guests. Some examples are rose, rose petal in the home, wine, chocolate, cake/pastries, decor and other creative ideas. I will send you her contact information and you can work with her directly regarding the event and pricing.

We have a 2-day minimum at this time for most dates but some random single night dates are sometimes available. The cleaning fee reflects the extra cleaning time due to COVID.
Sit back & relax on the deck while sipping a cup of tea, with dozens of birds cooing around you in the tree branches around this incredibly romantic, inspiring, and unique property.

Guest access
Guests will have full access to the cabin with a 1 bedroom loft, soaking tub (no strong jets), 2 decks, 2-3 parking spaces, ventless washer/ dryer combo, & spectacular sunrises. There is a detached garage on the property that is used as storage space.

Other things to note
Cell phone coverage:
Coverage can be spotty while driving through the canyon, please print out directions, door codes, and other details that may be needed before your arrival.

**Must climb stairs - Narrow spiral staircase to access loft bedroom**

Please clean up after yourself and respect the home and leave furniture in its place. Wash, dry and put away your dishes.

Fire Risk:
There are absolutely no fires outside - the area is a very high fire risk zone and open burning is banned (with a heavy corresponding fine) most of the year. If you are a smoker (no smoking allowed in the house) it is imperative that you diligently use an ashtray and properly dispose of your cigarette butts.

Trash:
Your trash and recycling will be taken away for you at the end of your stay. Please do not leave any trash outside as it can attract unwanted animals to the house. Please do not feed any of the many wild animals: hummingbirds, foxes, chipmunks, squirrels, etc. Please keep the doors closed as mice love to run into the home.

Please do not leave food in your car or your car unlocked. This will attract bears, and many know how to open door handles. They will help themselves to everything inside including the upholstery.

Parking:
2-3 parking spaces are available onsite in the dirt driveway off Juniper Heights road (it is the first drive/ house on the right). If you have a high clearance vehicle you may park in front of the detached garage which is located off of Gross Dam road, no garage access). Please check the weather during Winter months in order to park accordingly if heavy snow is on the way. The private road is typically plowed, after a snowstorm, but not 100% guaranteed (it could possibly be the next day). Please plan & park accordingly.

Safety:
There is a first aid kit in the main hallway closet. We have smoke alarms and fire extinguishers throughout the home.

The neighborhood setting is picturesque, peaceful, and most importantly private. The last 1 mile to the property is on a county dirt road offering its own unique backdrop as you wind around the mountain until you reach the property. Crescent Meadows Trailhead which will lead you to Walker Ranch State Park plus access to Boulder County Open Space trails is a short .5 mile stroll from the front door. Gross Dam Reservoir is just down the road from the home as well for fishing, boating, picnicking, & more. Plus there is a convenience store, coffee shop, liquor store, & a few restaurants near the cabin located on the main road if needed. We strongly recommend picking up groceries before your arrival since the closest grocery stores are about 30-45 min away.

Please stay on designated trails and hiking areas as there is wildlife and private property in the surrounding area.
