Hi, so firstly my stay was great. Roughly a 10 minute walk from Gili Free dive centre. Puts you a little out of the hustle of the main tourist strip. Found it a little difficult to find. Used the Mango dive centre as my land mark. The alley right after is the easiest one to use. There was no signage displayed for Rumayah.
Neighbourhood was fine. It's a little slummy once off the main strip, but don't let this put you off. The actual accommodation is great. When the owner is on, a/c works, king size bed is very comfortable. The water pressure for the shower is terrible though. Not much more than a low trickle. The girls are very nice , and the breakfast they served was great.
The local mosque , the prayer starts very early, and is very loud. Might pay to inform people of this.
A great place to stay at Gili T. The room was very comfortable with the big bed, airco and private bathroom. You also have your own little balcony where you get your breakfast every morning (lovely made by the girls of the house!). Marco and Lisa were very helpful and communicative via e-mail and the girls at the house helped us out with whatever questions we had. The island is great for snorkling, sunsets, beaches. Not too crowded at this time of year, which we liked.
We loved the place!!! Location is a bit to walk, but out of the party-night rumble, which was very, very valuable for good sleeping. Rooms are spacy and lovely decorated, safe is available and the property is very well organized and run. The ladies who took care of us even provided very early breakfast when we asked for it. Air-con and Wifi worked very well, unless one of the regular island electricity cuts occurs (property has no private generator, but that was ok for us). Thanks a lot for some excellent days in Gili! We would definitely go back there again!
A sweet little room on the top of a two storey bungalow with a balcony to catch the sea breezes. The location is great - you walk just a few hundred meters from the boat harbour and then about 100m off the main road. It's quiet at night but still close to the action. The welcoming staff helped with everything we needed like bike and snorkel hire. The room was comfortable with working AC and a safe but hot water is only available by leaving the shower running for 15 minutes. We did not find this necessary. Breakfast was good and we really enjoyed our stay here.
Great place to stay highly recommended, everything was as described. Location is perfect and the room is super clean the best we have so far in our trip in Indonesia
The staff is super friendly and they help us to arrange the bike rental, gave us tips to explore the island and a delicious breakfast everyday ;)
Thank you Marco and Lisa for letting us share your little place of paradise! My partner and I stayed a few nights here and wished we could of stayed longer. It was such a welcoming, delightful place to stay, especially due to Nani, Marshall (the cat) and the rest of the staff, they are so accommodating and kind hearted. The breakfasts are fantastic, the banana pancake a must. I know I'll dream of waking up to the smell of those pancakes! We really enjoyed the comfy king size bed, and the traditional hut style, the only fault was a petty one, in that the shower was a little weak with the flow of water but apart from that we had a wonderful time here and highly recommend a stay at Rumah Cahaya!
Marco and Lisa were away during our stay, but the other staff made us feel very welcome. For breakfast we recommend choosing the banana pancakes! The room has aircon and a fan which we definitely needed. The shower was cold but with the weather this didn't matter!
The location was a little different to what we had pictured - but not inaccurate to description. It is a short walk to the beach, however this is through streets and Rumah Cahaya is on the busier side of the island (but not right on the shore so it's quieter than the hostels would be). This has it's positives as restaurants and shops are close, but if you're looking for a quieter place then the other side of the island seemed less busy.
Marco and Lisa left us with a very helpful map of the island as well as tips for getting around.
Thanks Marco, Lisa and Nani and the team for having us and making us feel so welcome.
