We love Asheville, and we're happy to tell you why and help you find your way around. Or leave you alone. Whatever you prefer. Y ¡hablamos Español! (So does our dog, Fina.)
The public bus runs right by our house, so it's easy to hop on if you don't have a car or a bike.
Note: The apartment is below our living area, so you may hear footsteps and/or other signs of life above you, despite high-quality soundproofing insulation between the floors. We make every effort to walk softly and protect your peace and quiet.
Access to parking, patio, and the big back yard.
Walkability is the best feature of my neighborhood. So many fun restaurants, shops, and night spots are within a 10 minute walk of the studio, as well as quiet neighborhood strolls if you prefer. If you love to walk, this is your spot!
One parking place is reserved for you in my drive. There's also a public bus stop right down the road. And if you prefer to bike, Asheville is bike friendly.

Kari's studio was warm and welcoming. It is exactly as the pictures show and incredibly comfortable. The location is fantastic and the view from the studio is her incredibly beautiful yard!
Two thumbs up! A great location -- walking distance to West Asheville -- clean, well-furnished and very comfortable. We loved the privacy, convenience and the way it matched Asheville's vibe. I also value Kari's respect for the environment -- water use, recycling, etc.; her clear and concise communications; and good written instructions. I'll certainly come back to Asheville, and hopefully to Kari's place.
Great little place!
Perfect for what we needed.
Kari was great to work with .
Kari's place was great. She stayed in touch prior to and during the visit (although we did not have a chance to meet in person, which was no problem). The apartment was very inviting and private, and such an easy location to get into downtown Asheville. There were restaurants and shopping for quick conveniences just minutes away. All in all, a very nice stay!
A very welcoming experience! A great space within walking distance to downtown west Asheville! A gracious host and we wanted for nothing!
This may be the most critical review the host receives, but hopefully change can happen. Aside from enjoying the furnishings, layout and decor my experience had several minor inconveniences perhaps specific to my stay but I'll let you decide.
1. The standing shower was full of mildew on the floor and parts of the wall prior to us using it.
2. The parking was somewhat inconvenient for me with the exception of a couple days when guests were over visiting the host making parking on busy Louisiana Ave quite difficult. I had to squeeze into very tight quarters and move a garbage can to get out of my door.
I wouldn't recommend this listing for nervous drivers who do not navigate the car with confidence or who do not want to deal with navigating in and out of tight parking on a busy street.
3. There were literally 3 sheets of paper towels on a roll when we arrived and just about as much tissue. We had to go to the store to purchase our own stock.
4. The bathroom mats didn't have a fluffy pelt indicative of a freshly washed mat.
5. If you are a light sleeper and you are staying with another person be warned there is a loud electric water heater that turns on each time someone uses the bathroom or accesses water for a short length of time.
Sanitary conditions are kind of a big thing for me. And really we can stay in acceptable hotels for around the same price. For me I enjoy the uniqueness of each space but sanitation is essential for me to feel at ease in a space. In the hosts defense they don't charge a cleaning fee.
A drying rack would be nice as the host requests guests clean the dishes they have used.
The host should really disclose the parking situation carefully especially when they have guests over... It can be a real deal breaker for some.
I have had 103 positive reviews, so I was surprised to read this one, and with so many errors that I feel the need to respond. There is a dedicated, off-street parking space for our guests which is standard parking space width. I do apologize if one of my book club friends might have parked a little close to the line one evening. I don't know? According to my cleaning assistant, there were plenty of paper napkins in the cabinet and two rolls of toilet paper. There is always a drying rack for dishes under the sink and also lots of kitchen towels in drawers. Bathroom mats were clean, as was the shower, though there are some permanent stains on the shower basin. Noise from the pump is explained in the description and should be expected. I make it very clear that I am always happy to help guests when they have a need, but I never heard from this guest during his stay, so I could not know that he had questions, most of which could have been answered and problems resolved if he had just asked. I'm always available to help, so please ask! Thank you.
Everything at Kari's Sweet Studio was exactly as described and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. Communication was fast and concise, making for an easy arrival and wonderful experience.
The West Asheville location was really welcomed as we enjoyed breakfast at Sunny Point Cafe immensely. It was also very convenient to other West Asheville attractions and just a skip to downtown.

About the Host, Kari
My daughter Rosa and I share our West Asheville home with our indoor cat, Joey and our sweet dog, Fina. We have been here for almost 10 years now. We love to travel, camp, hike, and otherwise enjoy all that Western North Carolina offers. I lived in Europe for two years and have subsequently traveled extensively, mostly in Central and South America. I am a Spanish teacher and musician and love to work with children and adults. I practice yoga, love to read, dance, eat out, and socialize, and feel fortunate to have wound up in this great city of Asheville with my fascinating and fabulous daughter.
