Interaction with Guests
We enjoy welcoming our guests personally, meeting them at the start of our private road to ease their arrival. We are home on the property and available for recommendations of activities and restaurants in the area.
Our home and guest apartment are secluded and peaceful in a forest setting. In summer the creek is nearby for swimming, and in winter/spring our seasonal waterfall rushes down the hillside next to the house.

Paul and Sheila were fantastic! My boyfriend and I made very last minute plans. We found the Relaxing Retreat on a Friday morning, they quickly replied. And we got there Friday night.
The apartment was very clean and cozy. I loved the cute decorations. There was also a DVD player and some other activities to do if needed. The bed was very comfortable. My favorite part was definitely sitting on the deck with my morning coffee listening to the waterfall. Very relaxing.
When we were ready to leave our hideaway, Paul and Sheila had great recommendations from what to eat to where to explore. We were looking for a weekend alone and away to relax with relax with each other. And I couldn't have imagined it being any better. Thank you so much. We can't wait to visit the Relaxing Retreat again!

We had an amazing stay at Paul and Sheila's cabin in beautiful Cazadero. They were so helpful and suggestive, really great hosts. Everything about the weekend was perfect. There's plenty of trails and ocean and lots of beautiful things to see in the area - even a waterfall down the road! I would definitely recommend staying with the Juilly's the next time you'd like a quiet, relaxing stay close to Russian River.
Paul and Sheila are so very nice and welcomed us like family. Their apartment suite is very clean, cozy, and comfortable. We couldn't have asked for more to make the two nights we stayed with them even more perfect! We brought our own meals from Guerneville on the way to Cazadero and got the most delicious breakfast pastries and bread for the next day from nearby Raymond's Bakery. We were happy to eat in, relax, and all that fresh air made us sleep like babies! We got an early start the next day and accomplished all we planned to do which was explore the Jenner area, visit Fort Ross, and go hiking at Gerstle Cove, Stump Beach, and Fisk Mill Cove. We can't wait to come back! Thank you so much, Paul and Sheila!
Paul and Sheila were both very gracious and generous hosts. They made sure we felt at home and that we had everything we needed. Their apartment is gorgeous and exactly as listed: quiet and surrounded by beautiful wilderness. They're located near a wonderful bakery and just a short drive from great restaurants and hiking areas. We highly recommend this place as a relaxing and beautiful retreat.
Paul and Sheila are wonderful hosts who deeply care about their guests getting the relaxation they are seeking. The property is completely geared towards feeling relaxed. Opening the balcony door lets you hear their on-property waterfall and makes for a very calm and soothing experience.
We are a young couple expecting our first baby and wanted to get away for a weekend, for that we think we picked the perfect spot.
Paul met us on the main road and guided us to the home which was appreciated. You have the lower story of the house completely to yourself. Paul and Sheila live upstairs but you wouldn't know it. They give their guests plenty of space and are extremely considerate. We felt completely isolated and away from it all, which is what we were hoping for.
The flat is nice, the couch is very comfortable and great for watching movies or TV. Our favorite part was the mattress, we got ~12 hours sleep each night! The have a microwave, fridge, toaster oven, and hot plate with pan which can easily cook meals for two. There is a General Store just up the main road that has all your basics and if you're coming from 101 you'll pass a Safeway on the way. The home is located on a private road just up from Raymond's Bakery. Unfortunately Raymond's was closed when we went (closed in December and January turns out) but you could walk down the hill to get pastries / pizza if you pleased.
It was also easy to get around. Their home is ~25 minutes from Guerneville and ~15 minutes from Duncan Mills, both of which have restaurants and shops. In one day we had breakfast in Guerneville, went walking in the Armstrong Redwoods Natural Park, shopping in Duncan Mills, and watched the sunset from Goat Rock Beach.
Bottom line: this is an incredibly relaxing property that's centrally located to lots of great outdoor activities. Paul and Sheila are wonderful hosts and even better people. You can't go wrong here.
Beautiful clean space surrounded by lots of trees! There were some nice amenities (juice, wine, milk, water) in the fridge. Paul and Sheila were very easy to get a hold of and shared helpful information about the surrounding area. The place was perfect for our weekend getaway!
What a great experience we had here. Both hosts are very sweet, thoughtful people that went out of their way to makes us feel comfortable. Will definitely come back and enjoy this beautiful place, surrounded by forest, a running creek, and close to Russian River, The Ocean, and Armstrong Woods.
We are Paul and Sheila Juilly. We came to Cazadero weekends and vacations during our working years, but moved here full time 4 years ago when we retired. We are both from the Bay Area, Paul being born in San Francisco and Sheila in Oakland. Paul grew up in San Carlos. We met at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and moved back to the Bay Area after college when we married. We raised 2 children in San Mateo, and after they 'flew the nest', we moved to San Francisco for the next phase of our lives. Paul is a retired structural engineer and Sheila has been a teacher and an administrative assistant. Now we are lucky to be 'on vacation' all the time in this beautiful area. We enjoy hiking, biking, classical music and traveling. We have been to many countries in Europe as well as Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, Cambodia and Tahiti. Some of our travel has involved home exchanges. We enjoy meeting new people and have been renting our guest suite for the last 3 years. For French visitors, Sheila can converse/correspond in French.
We live in Cazadero because Paul's family came to Cazadero in 1918 when his uncle went to Boy Scout camp here. That was the beginning of family vacations every summer since then. Originally we stayed with the extended family in their cabin. In 1979 we had our own house built. We finished the guest suite in 2005.
