  • My classmate and I stayed at Francesca's place for a month and had a wonderful time. Francesca is a great host who is very friendly and helpful in resolving any concerns that we had. I really appreciated her getting me a desk on which to study in one of the rooms. The apartment was very clean and beautifully decorated with a well equipped kitchen. The area is also very safe and quiet with ample parking on the street. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Chicago.

On my arrival Francesca offered to give me an orientation the following day, which was valuable to know the area and the transport links for the city.
The apartment was warm, clean and well provided.
I would recommend the Sweet Ivy House to all travelers to Chicago.

  • We started 2014 with a wonderful two week stay at Sweet Ivy (lower apartment) and would highly recommend this place for its value, location and style. The house was exceptionally clean when we arrived and the kitchen comes fully stocked with pots, pans, dinnerware etc, as well as some starter food bits. Francesca was present upon our arrival to give a tour of the apartment and remained alert, but not intrusive throughout the remainder of our stay. She was extremely responsive when we asked for the temperature to be lowered (there is no thermostat in the apartment itself), and when we messaged her to say the coffee machine was broken she hand delivered one the very next day. We also noticed that the steps to the apartment as well as the path leading to the front gate were salted every time there was a heavy snow. Although the master bedroom has a walk-in closet, we did find it a bit cramped so used the second (and larger) bedroom as a dressing room where we stored clothes etc. We found the location of the apartment perfect for our needs, as the bus from Grand Ave runs direct to downtown and the Metra is only blocks away. We never had issues finding street parking within a block of the apartment, and it was free which was a huge bonus! Small things like having two sets of keys, efficient wifi, plenty of hot water, free parking, laundry on site and all the equipment one needs to host a dinner party make this place an absolute win and great value for money.

  • Francesca really made me feel like I had a "home" away from home. The place was a nice price, equipped with everything I needed (laundry on site is a bonus) -- and it was close to a grocery store, three bus lines and the metra. I stayed for two months and enjoyed good food, friends and privacy in a peaceful neighborhood. I highly recommend Sweet Ivy for a long visit. I didn't want to leave.

It is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood. Everything you need can be accessed quickly by walk or public transport. Wicker park area and downtown are easily accessible.
The appartment is very clean and has all ameneties needed.
Francesca is extremely helpful. Any minor issues were dealt with and solved in a very timely manner.

Recommend it without doubt! Cannot beat the value for the price.

Neighbourhood is great, everything you need within walking distance.
Francesca is the best host you can get! Such a warm, nice and friendly person, very supportive.

I stayed four weeks and when I left it felt like leaving a friend that I stayed with.
If you are going to chicago stay at the sweet ivy house!

About
Hi, I look forward to meeting you! Update: please note that after years of hosting amazing, incredible people, I had my first unfortunate group of guests who turned my home into a party house, disturbed the neighbors and damaged my possessions. Fortunately, airbnb mediated the claim. In retaliation, the guest posted my one and only negative review. Please be assured there are no issues with the cable and internet! I'm an entrepreneur, world traveler, foodie, yoga fan but don't do it as much as I should, collegiate fencer, Australian Shepherd Frisbee Champion Trainer, Italy Enthusiast, and love sailing on the waters of beautiful lake Michigan. I'm a low key, drama free individual, and will give you your private independent space, but am there to help you with any questions to make your stay more comfortable!
