Francesca was an absolutely wonderful hostess. The place was just as the pictures show and it was very clean. I cannot imagine visiting Chicago ago without staying at the Sweet Ivy House. Thanks Francesca!
I had a wonderful experience staying at Francesca's Sweet Ivy. She is such a gracious host, very helpful and always available for questions (she replied to my emails within a few hours, sometimes after 10pm!). I arrived a few hours earlier than anticipated and she was at the house within 10 minutes to meet me. The apartment is very cozy, clean and the decor is lovely. I didn't have any problems with the neighborhood, it is safe and I had no problem finding parking within 1 block day or night. There is laundry available right in the house and any maintenance issues I had Francesca had it resolved the next day.
I recommend the Sweet Ivy to anyone looking for a quiet, well kept and nicely decorated apartment in Chicago and would absolutely stay there again if I had the chance.
I was very happy with my stay in The Ivy house. The house contained everything I needed, even an umbrella that saved me in the sometimes rainy Chicago weather. The most important feature of any home, the wi-fi network, was fast and trouble free. Francesca was super helpful and provided lots of good tips about the neighborhood. Very easy to get into the city using the bus on nearby Chicago Ave.
We had a wonderful experience. The apartment was wonderful and Fran was an absolute joy. She made us feel right at home and went out of her way to help. The neighborhood was charming, and close to everything.
My classmate and I stayed at Francesca's place for a month and had a wonderful time. Francesca is a great host who is very friendly and helpful in resolving any concerns that we had. I really appreciated her getting me a desk on which to study in one of the rooms. The apartment was very clean and beautifully decorated with a well equipped kitchen. The area is also very safe and quiet with ample parking on the street. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Chicago.
A fantastic place to stay and a lovely, welcoming host.
On my arrival Francesca offered to give me an orientation the following day, which was valuable to know the area and the transport links for the city.
The apartment was warm, clean and well provided.
I would recommend the Sweet Ivy House to all travelers to Chicago.
We started 2014 with a wonderful two week stay at Sweet Ivy (lower apartment) and would highly recommend this place for its value, location and style. The house was exceptionally clean when we arrived and the kitchen comes fully stocked with pots, pans, dinnerware etc, as well as some starter food bits. Francesca was present upon our arrival to give a tour of the apartment and remained alert, but not intrusive throughout the remainder of our stay. She was extremely responsive when we asked for the temperature to be lowered (there is no thermostat in the apartment itself), and when we messaged her to say the coffee machine was broken she hand delivered one the very next day. We also noticed that the steps to the apartment as well as the path leading to the front gate were salted every time there was a heavy snow. Although the master bedroom has a walk-in closet, we did find it a bit cramped so used the second (and larger) bedroom as a dressing room where we stored clothes etc. We found the location of the apartment perfect for our needs, as the bus from Grand Ave runs direct to downtown and the Metra is only blocks away. We never had issues finding street parking within a block of the apartment, and it was free which was a huge bonus! Small things like having two sets of keys, efficient wifi, plenty of hot water, free parking, laundry on site and all the equipment one needs to host a dinner party make this place an absolute win and great value for money.

Hi, I look forward to meeting you!
***Update: please note that after years of hosting amazing, incredible people, I had my first unfortunate group of guests who turned my home into a party house, disturbed the neighbors and damaged my possessions. Fortunately, airbnb mediated the claim. In retaliation, the guest posted my one and only negative review. Please be assured there are no issues with the cable and internet! ***
