We spent 3 nights in Abundio's wonderful house. The house is very spacious and decorated with a very personal and cosy feel. The location is in a very local neighborhood away from the touristic zone, not for everyone, but we found it very tranquil here. Abundio is a very attentive and helpful host and we definitely recommend anyone who wishes to escape the hustle and bustle of the hotel zone to consider this an option, especially if you have a car then this is a great base and exceptional value for money!
Thanks TOM for staying in our place!
The Transportation system (públic transportation and taxis) is efficient too, and take you any point of the city as the HOTEL Zone and downtown.
It was a pleasure to meet you and have you as our guest!

The place is really nice. At first, we have a hard time getting to the place but the host was really nice and helpful in guiding us there. The location is a bit far from downtown Cancun but it can be reached easily by taxi or local transportation. If you look for real local experience, you will get it. The price is fair considering that you got the whole place to yourself. Overall, our experience with this place is great.
Abundio & Beatriz were great hosts. Arriving I had gotten lost and they appears quickly and guided us. The house is beautiful just like photo indicated. You definitely need a car to get around but in overall it was great in Mexico. I will come back again.
Abundio was very responsive and got back to my emails right away. He was very kind and helpful and I was able to travel around town during the day using the local buses based on his instructions without needing to use a taxi once! I went downtown, to Mercado 23 and Mercado 28 and had a lot of fun talking to people and asking for directions.
Then I took a cab back to the house if I was out after dark per his advice. He printed maps, photos of the neighborhood and instructions in Spanish to hand to drivers. I also watched a movie one night on Abundio's Netflix account which he showed me how to find on the tv!
There was some food left in the fridge when I first arrived, but I booked the day before so I gave them pretty short notice to get everything cleaned up. One kitchen tip: don't leave food out, the ants are pretty aggressive and they will find it!
Otherwise the house was nice, only the main bedroom had AC, but if you kept the windows open and used the ceiling fans it was bearable even in the August heat. The neighborhood looks a bit rough, but there were kids playing in the street, a little store and a woman who does laundry across the street and was just a block or so away from the main road to catch a cab or bus.
I really enjoyed staying at the house and would love to come back with some friends, since it's a lot of space for one person - two bedrooms and two baths.
Abundio was very kind when we arrived. It was hard to find the house because the house did not have an address. It took us over an hour to find the house with varies maps and 4 adults in the car! . The locals didn't help much either but they tried to point us to the right direction. Find the neighborhood market. The lady in the store knew where the house was. We got lucky! We didn't have cell coverage so I couldn't call abundio but the market had a phone, for a cost.
Abundio showed us the house. Cute and spacious. The upstairs bathroom is shared with the 2nd room. One room as ac and the other didn't. Abundio explained that on his site too. The rest of the house had no AC, just ceiling fan. His fans was spun fast and worked well, but it was still very hot and humid inside too. So if don't mind the summer weather, than this house suits you. The location of the house is great for someone who would like to experience the culture. It is like a village away from the city environment. It was nice to hear the locals roaming the neighborhood playing either football water gun games, or just sitting out front talking. There were plenty to eat around his house. Good and cheap eateries! Can't go wrong with 5 peso tacos!
If you are looking for a location close to the beach around the hotel zone, this is not the place. You would have to take the bus to get their. I believe 2 transfer, I forget. I had to leave early than expected but it was a great experience to end my trip. Thank you abundio!
Lily I WAS GIVE YOU A MAP AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTION TO GET HOME BY YOUR OWN CAR , BUT YOU USED OTHER ROAD. OUR GUEST NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH DIRECTION
SUMMER IS HUMED AND WARM IN CANCÚN, THAT IS NOT A PROBLEM IN OUR HOUSE, THE HOUSE IS FRESH, WE HAVE FANS IN ALL HOUSE
THANKS FOR YOU VISIT.
There are two very distict Cancuns. One is the Zona Hoteleria...white sand beaches groomed gardens bigbox nighclubs, etc. Everyone has heard of it. Then, my preference...the real Cancun where everyone lives who work in these same places. This house is in a "barrio popular" called Rancho Viejo and has everything you need and all the extras like roosters crowing in the morning and the local "mini-super" right across the street. It is 10 minutes travel to the centro but the mini-buses (collectivos) come by every few minutes and cost 45 cents. The real Mexico for those who want a great price value and want to have the luxury of a house to themselves with kitchen, living space, all the amenities of home instead of the impersonal feel of a hotel. Two thumbs up from Maria and Herman!
Abundio was great he met us at the ADO bus station downtown. His place was nice as well. Farther away from town than we liked so we didn't stay the whole time. If you don't mind being far away then this is the place for you.
