The space

This spacious and airy room is in the heart of the most exciting area in Santo Domingo: The Colonial Zone. We are a TRUE bed and breakfast in every sense of the word. Each morning we serve a fresh, hot authentic DOMINICAN BREAKFAST with an assortment of fresh squeezed juices, native tea and our country’s finest…café con leche! There is always a 24 hour station equipped with tea, coffee, juice and fresh snacks.
The room is situated with cable TV, WIFI, a powerful ceiling fan, a wardrobe, a chair, and a table. We welcome you to take advantage of the common areas in the house, which includes the spacious living area, kitchen, washing machine and an iron available for your use.
You will never run out of things to do in the Colonial Zone! We are steps away from the stimulating El Conde street, restaurants, bars, clubs, museums, health centers, shops, parks, pharmacies, churches (Primatial Cathedral of America), banks, super markets. Just two blocks in the other direction, you will find yourself on the famous Malecon (a 10 kilometer boardwalk)
There is constant public transportation and affordable taxi options in the area.
A little bit about us: My husband Rafael and I are retired from our teaching professions, and passionate about showing travelers the riches of our country. On occasion, my daughter Maria Raquel (a dancer with the national ballet dominican) and her husband Ygor come to the apartment to help out when I go to my country home.
We are happy to arrange airport pick up for a nominal fee of $30 USD (not included in the rate and is payable upon arrival at the apartment).
Safe travels and can’t wait to host your Dominican adventures!

Luz is very kind and makes a mean Dominican breakfast. While these accommodations are modest, they fit my purposes excellently, all for a great price.

Luz is a perfect, great host. We are very happy to meet her. She is like your mommy in Santo Domingo. She helps you in everything you need. It is the best option to stay in SD. Even with our very beginner level spanish, we talked with her at least one hour in the breakfast, you can communicate with her even if you can not speak spanish:) Me and my husband stayed in her house for 3 nights, the room is clean, you have everything you need(towels, shampoo, body wash etc.)and you have great dominican coffee and breakfast with fresh juice in the morning. We had a very early flight when we leave (7 am), she arranged a very safe transport for us. If you go to SD, do not think much and go to Luz's home.

Luz is a wonderful host! She is very welcoming and attentive of your needs as a guest. Her home is a typical Dominican home with friends and family who make you feel comfortable and are happy to speak Spanish with you and give you advice. It's a very homey place and Luz makes you feel like family. The home is at the far end of the colonial zone, so it's a great location to walk the zone or to go into town. Uber is the easiest way to get around, and you can even try uber motorcycle if you dare. (much faster in the traffic jams, though not for the faint of heart.) And of course there's the delicious Dominican breakfast! It adds the extra touch of home that makes you feel like you're with family. Definitely a diamond in the rough, and a great place to experience the culture and heart of the Dominican Republic!

Luz is an awesome host!! You can't go wrong choosing this place. Location is really close to a walkable street that goes all the way to the heart of the Zona Colonial. But better than that is the warm welcome and valuable suggestions Luz provides. She definitely made us feel at home, plus the homemade breakfast was delicious. We would choose again this place.

Luz's Airbnb was great! Her and her husband are very sweet and loving people. The rooms are well kept and bathroom is very clean. The breakfast in the morning is really good as well. Whatever questions we had she would answer them, as well as make sure we make ourselves at home. I would stay there again in a heart beat!
