This is a comfortable, charming, one bedroom, one bath, self catering, downtown apartment with a well equipped kitchen which includes a full sized (email hidden)ere is a queen bed in the bedroom and a double blow up bed if there is an extra person. There is a stacking washer/dryer unit for your use during your stay. The house itself is on the historic registry as are many of the homes on the street. Just 2 blocks away, there are shops, restaurants, movie theatres, and music venues. There are city bus stops one block over. There is off street parking for one vehicle.
Relax and enjoy the comfy furnishings and original art on view. The walls are old painted brick and there are lots of windows letting in the light. There is a patio for dining or just enjoying a glass of wine al fresco.
While the apartment is self catering, I provide coffee, tea, yogurt, muffins or pastries for breakfast. There are many restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. .

My wife and I were very pleased to stay here and would highly recommend it. The spacing was charming, quaint, clean and very cozy. It was the perfect fit for our weekend in Charlottesville.
Also a plus is it's very close proximity to the charming pedestrian Main Street (only a five minute walk) as well as a fantastic farmers market on Saturday (literally a few steps from the front door).
It also helped that Barbara was extremely warm and accommodating and has her own beautiful artwork adorning the space.
Barbara and her apartment were absolutely lovely and perfect. I could not have dreamed of a better location or homey feel. Barbara was impeccable with communication and accommodating to my schedule and needs. The apartment is spacious. The neighborhood is one block from the center of it all, and the Saturday farmers market right outside the front door is fantastic! Highly recommended all around.
If you're considering a stay at Barbara's great downtown spot, I would highly recommend it! I spent two nights there, and I have since been recommending to other friends that this great alternative has tremendous value and it's much better than staying in a hotel. Barbara is an extremely welcoming, gracious, informative, and helpful host. The kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom were clean and the entire unit has an inexplicable Virginia feel to it that's inviting and comfy. Located a short walk from the downtown mall, it's a truly tough choice whether to hang out or to go exploring.
The best feature is the location, walking distance to the downtown mall. On Saturday, the farmer's market is right across the street. Fabulous location.
The space was good too -- a lower level bedroom and a living area with kitchen. There was even a washer and dryer. A bonus is original art (mostly by Barbara) on the walls.
Barbara is reliable and friendly. I most appreciated the 1/2 and 1/2 for coffee she had in the fridge for us.
Barbara's spot was well appointed charming and we loved being able to stay so close to everything!
This place is a little gem! It is 2 blocks from the down town mall, with plenty of shopping, incredible food, and great people watching. The apartment is perfectly cozy. The bed is super comfortable. The living room/kitchen is inviting and has great light.
The Charlottesville Trolley runs a block away, which was great for getting back and forth to the UVA grounds without having to worry about parking. Cabs can find it easily, due to the location too.
And I don't know what kind of coffee Barbara left there, but it was fantastic!
Overall, a wonderful choice for us.
Barbara's basement apartment was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our 2-person, 2-night stay in Charlottesville. The location is ideal - a stone's throw from the Downtown Mall trolley stop. One aspect of our stay that we were not expecting was the freight train that passes by the back door many times through the night. We thought we were experiencing a 20-minute-long earthquake! This place is not a good fit for light sleepers.
Absolutely beautiful property. Calm, pleasant, and relaxing. Barbara greeted us and made us feel very welcome. The apartment is located in the heart of Charlottesville, just a minutes walk from restaurants, shops, and bars. My wife and I would definitely stay at the property again.
We had a great stay! The unit was clean and cute. Barbara left an assortment of breakfast foods for us to enjoy. The unit is located a couple blocks from the downtown mall and has some great restaurants even closer than that. Its a $5 cab ride to the corner and the free trolley picks up a block away from the unit. Its a great and extremely accessible location.
Our stay at South Street Pensione was wonderful! The apartment was well maintained and beautifully decorated. We were warmly welcomed and the location was perfect. Close to the pedestrian mall, the farmer's market and much more. What a quaint place to stay!
