Barbara was a great host and her place is lovely! My girlfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and had a great time being so close to the downtown mall. Barbara was more than accommodating, leaving us breakfast and coordinating with us on the day of our arrival. The place is comfortable and well decorated and fits two people perfectly. We will definitely be back in touch next time we're in Charlottesville!
My new husband and I stayed here for our wedding night, and it was perfect due to both the very close proximity to the Downtown Mall and the large size of the apartment. There was plenty of room to spread out!
The apartment is an English basement style, and there are a few steep and narrow stairs down to the front door. We arrived late at night (midnight) so I anticipated the apartment would feel quite dark the next day. I was wrong - there was so much cozy natural light in the apartment! It was lovely!
Not to mention, the property was filled with the host's personal artwork displayed in the shared foyer and the private apartment. Who knew Barbara was a professional fine artist!?
I would absolutely recommend this apartment to others :)
Barbara was a fantastic host! The apartment is very tasteful, filled with beautiful colors and artwork. The bed was so comfortable and the bedroom is very spacious! It is simply beautiful. She left breakfast in the fridge for us which was very nice! The apartment is within 20 minutes of wineries and is just a couple of blocks off the downtown mall, which made it very easy to walk to and from dinner (we went to Orzo and it was amazing!). We would definitely stay in her apartment again if we come back to Charlottesville. The location is amazing!
My boyfriend and I had a great experience at Barbara's apartment last weekend. It felt like a cross between a hotel and a house! I loved how large the living room / kitchen was! We did not take full advantage of it, as we wanted to try some restaurants in the area but definitely could have cooked in that kitchen. Everything was very clean. Barbara was an amazing host and left us pastries for Saturday morning. She was a perfect combination of friendly but not overbearing. I went with my boyfriend and we had a great weekend. The location of the apartment was perfect. A block from the mall and near tons of great restaurants. Everything felt super safe and parking was very easy.
We had a great experience staying at Barbara's place. The price was right and central to everything we needed to get to in Charlottesville. The onsite free parking is a great bonus! We also liked the feel of the room and antique charm of the shabby chic and vintage furniture and decor. We also appreciated the snacks and breakfast goodies upon arriving. We would definitely stay here again.
Barbara's apartment was great, clean, spacious and centrally located. Barbara was super responsive and communicative throughout. she left some tasty pastries and coffee as well. recommended
My wife and I were very pleased to stay here and would highly recommend it. The spacing was charming, quaint, clean and very cozy. It was the perfect fit for our weekend in Charlottesville.
Also a plus is it's very close proximity to the charming pedestrian Main Street (only a five minute walk) as well as a fantastic farmers market on Saturday (literally a few steps from the front door).
It also helped that Barbara was extremely warm and accommodating and has her own beautiful artwork adorning the space.
Barbara and her apartment were absolutely lovely and perfect. I could not have dreamed of a better location or homey feel. Barbara was impeccable with communication and accommodating to my schedule and needs. The apartment is spacious. The neighborhood is one block from the center of it all, and the Saturday farmers market right outside the front door is fantastic! Highly recommended all around.
If you're considering a stay at Barbara's great downtown spot, I would highly recommend it! I spent two nights there, and I have since been recommending to other friends that this great alternative has tremendous value and it's much better than staying in a hotel. Barbara is an extremely welcoming, gracious, informative, and helpful host. The kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom were clean and the entire unit has an inexplicable Virginia feel to it that's inviting and comfy. Located a short walk from the downtown mall, it's a truly tough choice whether to hang out or to go exploring.
The best feature is the location, walking distance to the downtown mall. On Saturday, the farmer's market is right across the street. Fabulous location.
The space was good too -- a lower level bedroom and a living area with kitchen. There was even a washer and dryer. A bonus is original art (mostly by Barbara) on the walls.
Barbara is reliable and friendly. I most appreciated the 1/2 and 1/2 for coffee she had in the fridge for us.
