We have a beautiful and spacious fourth-floor 2-bedroom condo in Harlem, which we rent out on a regular basis to responsible, mature adults who'd like a gorgeous place to stay while visiting Manhattan but think that paying $350 a night for a shoddy hotel is insane.
We have two listings with the same photos on Airbnb; this listing is specifically for the master bedroom (the yellow room in the photos). This room is only available when we're out of town on vacation, and there may be other house guests occupying the smaller guest bedroom at that time. By choosing this listing, you must be comfortable with sharing the condo with other travelers and perhaps making new friends. Also, there are no reviews on this listing because it was newly created. We do, however, have more than 100 positive reviews on our other listing (same home) that you can view on the Airbnb site by adding /rooms/5135 to the web address.
One thing you should know - we're a young, professional gay couple. Not that that has any bearing on your stay with us, but we'd hate to turn someone away for being a bigot. If you're open-minded enough to accept that gays, in fact, do exist, then get in touch. We're non-discriminating kind of people - we don't care what you look like - but we do expect you to be polite, clean and easygoing.
Also, we have two little dogs named Jaxon and Luxe. They will not be here during your stay, however; they'll be on vacation with us. This is just a measure of caution in case you're allergic.
Your stay includes an air-conditioned/heated private room with a lockable door and a comfy queen-size bed; fresh (and super soft) Ralph Lauren towels; access to our in-unit washer/dryer (FREE); flat-screen LCD/LED TVs (plus TiVo - we don't want you to miss your shows); board games and DVDs; FREE Wi-Fi; Wii console and games; and all the cereal you can eat (until we run out). You'll also have access to the kitchen so you can make your own meals if you'd like.
Parking is free on the streets, but mind the signs as street cleaning may require you to move your car depending on the length of your stay.
Sold yet? OK, we'll keep going.
Our condo is only two blocks away from the 2/3 express subway trains. We're within walking distance to Yankee Stadium and Columbia University, and you can be in Times Square in 15 minutes by subway. The apartment is easy to get to by subway from Grand Central, Penn Station and Port Authority. A cab ride from LaGuardia is relatively inexpensive (about $30), but the bus is even cheaper ($2.50).
There's a supermarket just down the street, along with bodegas for other convenience items on each corner. There's a McDonald's and late-night junkfood spots, like IHOP and Popeye's nearby. Just around the corner is an excellent French bistro with delicious food and can't-be-beat happy hours specials like $4 glasses of house wines and craft beers, nightly until 8 p.m. There are several health food, vegetarian/vegan establishments a stone's throw away.
P.S. Other travelers mostly likely will be here during your stay, occupying the other private bedroom. This will be a shared-space situation (the privacy part of the listing means that you'll have a private bedroom with lockable doors), but a fun, inexpensive one nonetheless. We've already met some pretty fantastic people from all over the world, so the bar is high; don't bring it down. Oh, and there are three flights of stairs to our apt. - with no elevator. But that's all right; you can do it!
Dear Mikey & Earl... Thank you so much for hosting me. My apology for not able to write soon coz once I returned from New York, I got piles and piles of work to settle. Anyway, I'm really satisfied living with you towards my 3rd times NYC vacation. Something that I won't forget that I had experienced snowing while in New York, this will be such a memory for me to ponder. Earl and you are such a great hosts. Your house is so perfect for me, only if I had a chance to meet with your 2 dogs, I think it will be grandest. Other than that, looking onto your house decoration gives me an inspiration for my house. Your house is Super Like! I love it.
I wish you both well and warmth. In Shaa Allah, if God Willing, I love to stay with you again.
Love & Regards,
Shukor Del Eusoff
Mikey is awesome. He offered up all his fine Scotch and wine, and made me feel right at home - one of the roomies! More than accommodating, he saved my bacon! Went out of his way to make sure I could drop off my stuff coming from the airport before heading off to meetings. I'll definitely come back and stay longer. Plus, there's a lot of good Scotch to drink :) Ace host!
The apartment was great, the bedroom is big and the bed confortable. the situation is good, the subway and bus is just next to the apartment and you can be in town in just a few minutes.
We have a lovely time and won't hesitate to come back.
My daughter and I were visiting New York to support my son and his wife in the New York marathon and were having a challenge finding a place to spend one night. After several requests to airbnb we contacted Mikey who responded almost instantly accepting our request. This was my first experience although my daughter has stayed in airbnbs in Paris and Barcelona. The apartment and our room were both clean and we met the other guests in the second room who were quite friendly. Mikey's quick responses to our requests also made this a great experience. We definitely recommend staying at Mikey.
My husband and I were visiting New York and stayed a couple of nights in Mikey's home. It was extremely comfortable, roomy, clean, and conveniently located, with easy access to the subway and a short, express ride to midtown. We met Mikey briefly at the beginning of the stay and it was obvious that he he sincerely cared about the experience of his guests. He was also very prompt in his communication and always easy to reach. We would absolutely stay at Mikey's again.
Superb well-appointed two bedroom apartment in the heart of Harlem. Excellent access to restaurants and the #2 and #3 trains. Apartment is very well-kept; it appears to have been renovated in the last couple of years. Excellent A/C and hot water. Very clean and quiet. Host was very good about keeping me informed and gave clear instructions about how to access the apartment.
Our stay at Mikey's place was great, the place is as cute as it looks on the photos, comfy and quiet. The street is very pleasant and close to restaurants and the subway. We did not get to meet Mikey who was out of town but he made sure we had all the info we needed -great communication! Thanks, Mikey!
We had a wonderful stay at Mikey & Earl's place, making our trip (my daughter's first) to NYC comfortable, easy and so fun! They were out of town during our stay, but made sure we had easy access to get in the apartment and checked in with us to make sure things were going okay. Another couple from Australia was staying in the other bedroom who were very nice and great to get to know.
The bed was so comfortable to sleep in and we had all the amenities of a fine hotel but at a fraction of the cost. It was really great to get a feel of living in the City by staying there. We had such close and easy access to the Subway to connect us to all the main attractions and more.
I highly recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to NYC. We are so grateful to Mikey for making it such a memorable trip! Marcia & Gilly
