Early flight out? Perfect crash pad for Sky Harbor commuters - twenty minutes and you're at your gate. Steps from hiking and mountain biking at South Mountain Park. Cheap Uber to Central Phoenix and Tempe/ASU. A detached casita with King bed, sun-dappled courtyard and fountain, fragrant herb garden, rocking chairs, al fresco dining, birds singing and twinkly patio lights. Your own private entry, come and go as you please. Great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
We are centrally located - just a few miles from the airport and downtown, but up on the South Mountain Preserve so we have a nice view. It's historically an agricultural area with a rural feel. There are horse properties on our street and it's dark and quiet at night. If you sleep with the windows open, you'll probably hear coyotes, and you'll see quail and cottontails bopping around in the morning. We see the occasional bobcat or roadrunner, too.
You have your own private casita with bed and bath and access to a gated courtyard shared with the main house. The courtyard has a fountain, a patio dining set, and rocking chairs.
Interaction with guests
Happy to loan out items/appliances you may have forgotten. Upon request I can host a happy hour for you in the courtyard, weather and time permitting, or bring a tot of tawny port and a cookie in the evening for a nightcap, if I'm home. I love Arizona so much, and I want you to have a good time in Phoenix, so if you'd like recommendations, I'm happy to share.
Other things to note
Small pets are negotiable, but only with open discussion and advance notice so as not to disrupt the current critter tenants.
- Courtyard gate *must* be closed behind guests. We have a dog and two cats and all are escape artists.
- Please bump the AC up over 80F if you're going out for the day.
- Quiet hours past 10p, please
Hi! My husband and I have a big house because of our large extended families and our love for cooking and entertaining. And we travel a *LOT* - he is a pilot - so we know what makes us feel safe, welcome, cared for, and happy. Well, we don't have houseguests all the time, but we have a lot of practice turning over guest rooms, so we thought we'd take this practical knowledge and see if we can parlay that into a little cash flow. Mama wants a new pair of shoes, y'know. Plus, we love meeting like-minded people - other adventurers and travelers - and picking their brains for recommendations and places we shouldn't miss. But on the other hand, sometimes when you travel you don't wanna have to be social. So our place lets you check in or out on your own and never have to talk to a living soul, if that's the way you want it to be this time. It's all up to you. I'm kind of an introvert, I am only bubbly in small doses, so I get that.
We are both foodies - maybe you hate that word, I am fine with it - and like to support local businesses where we can. We are active in aviation and warbird restoration. My husband also flies in the USAFR. I am a consultant, a big reader, and I do textile art (mostly quilting). We have three senior rescue animals - one overly-friendly yellow Lab, Bailey, and two giant fluffy Maine Coons (Beaker & Zeb) you may see around.
Confession time: I have always secretly wanted to run a B&B. This is my audition, come and stay and tell me how I'm doing! Maybe I will burn out on ironing sheets and decide to do something else when I grow up; who knows.
